Chapter 148 - They Got Lost

It was a child's innocent wish and yet, it brought pain to everyone in the room, especially to Xia Sinian and his side of the family who knew that wish was impossible to fulfill.

Xia Meilin was holding the handle of Xia Sinian's wheelchair and because of how tight she held it, her hand became white. Lu Yifeng noticed it that was why he placed his hand on top of hers, looking worried at his wife.

After Mengmeng and Qinqing blew the candles, the children were the only ones who clapped and it was soon followed by the adults.

"Can we go see animals now?" Mengmeng asked, her eyes filled with excitement.

Qinqing nodded his head and the look in his eyes was the same as his sister's.

"Well, kids will be kids." Mu Xijiu, Li Bingbing's mother said with a smile.

"I want to see the monkeys!" Little Spring exclaimed happily.

Li Bingbing sighed with a helpless look in her eyes, "Fine, I guess we can walk around first before we continue on the original program."

"Yey! Thank you, mama!" Mengmeng rushed to Xia Sinian, "Papa, let's go."

Xia Sinian smiled weakly at his little girl, "Where should we go first?"

"Bears!" said Qinqing before his sister could open her mouth and suggest for one.

Mengmeng pouted her lips, "I want to see the koalas... but fine, let's see the bears first!" She turned to Lu Xian Yu, "Daddy, should come with us."

Lu Xian Yu, who was quietly standing near them, smiled at his daughter, "Of course, I'll be coming with you."

"We should group ourselves by families then since our kids have their own interest in animals." s.h.i.+ Fen suggested.

"Us, old people will just stay here. " Ji Ruo said with a small smile on her lips. "I don't think that we will be able to roam around that much like the kids."

Li Bingbing chuckled a bit, "Won't it be boring for you two to stay here and do nothing?"

"You guys don't have to get worried about the oldies, look at the children, they're waiting. Just make sure to be back after an hour and a half, or else, we will start eating without you."

"Mom, can we go see the lions?" Little Melon asked while holding his twin sisters' hands in either hand.

Xia Meilin sighed a bit. She actually wanted to spend more time with her brother and to stick by his side.

"Don't worry, Meimei, I will watch over him." Li Bingbing said as she took the wheelchairs' handles from her.

Xia Meilin pursed her lips before she hardly said, "Alright."

Lu Yifeng placed his hand on his wife's waist without saying a thing. Instead, they followed their children's lead.

"Mama, let's go too!" Mengmeng exclaimed as she held her mother's hand.

"Okay, okay, let's get going."

Xia Meilin watched her children walk ahead of her and her husband. She was supposed to enjoy the day since it was the birthday celebration of Li Bingbing's children but because of her brother's condition, the happiness she was supposed to feel for the celebration wasn't there.

It was hard for her to celebrate something when she knew that her brother was dying. She didn't want to believe it at first but when she saw how different her brother looked like after so many years, she finally accepted it.

"I don't know what to do, Yifeng." Xia Meilin suddenly said.

Even though those were the only words that she said, Lu Yifeng knew what she was talking about. He actually didn't know what to do to help his wife in the situation she was in. She was about to lose her brother that she dearly loved, what words would comfort her. He wanted to say that it was going to be alright but would it really be?

The pain of losing someone important was unbearable, he experienced it himself.

Instead of saying something to her, he stopped from walking before he pulled her in his arms, he placed his soft lips on her forehead. It was his way of telling her that he was going to be by her side through it all, no matter how hard it was going to be.

At first, Xia Meilin was startled by what he did, but soon, the warmth from his kiss on her forehead spread throughout her body, comforting her troubled self.

Little Melon noticed that his parents weren't following them anymore and instead, he saw them that way. He sighed inwardly, there go his parents again, having their lovey-dovey time.

He didn't call for them, he toured his twin sisters around by himself instead.

"Mello-ge, where are momma and dada?" Little Spring asked after noticing that their parents weren't around.

"They got lost."

A loud gasp was heard from his little sister, "What?!"

"Ge ge, we should look for them..." Little Star had a worried look on her face when she said that.

Little Melon patted their heads with a smile on his lips, "Don't worry, they're grownups, mom and dad will be able to find their way to us."

"Really?" The twins asked at the same time, tilting their heads at the same time and that made them look more adorable than they already are.

"Of course! Since when did your big brother lied to you?"
