169 Incident At The Magic Academy 11

"Good, wipe them out completely! Mare cut them off, Lilly maintain defences!"

""Understood!""

Having succeeded in drawing the elven defense too far out Lux switched up tactics the moment she saw them hesitate, then without mercy she smashed through them. Rus.h.i.+ng forward out from behind cover Lux closed in on a group of elvers that were taking a firing position inside a second floor cla.s.sroom, suppressing them first, then she charged. Jumping into the second floor room from ground level Lux drew her pistol and a knife as a rifle would be ineffective in close quarters. Finding the closest target as she landed on a pillar Lux discharged her pistol and maimed the elver she sank her knife into and used him as a s.h.i.+eld while charging the next target, wreaking havoc as the screams of her victims rang out in horror.

"She really is ruthless.."

Hearing the screams from outside Lilly muttered sarcastically as she advanced, acting like a vanguard as she was surrounded by multiple stone bulwarks that shattered incoming fire. With her glowing golden eyes Lilly clearly saw the elvers shooting at her, Lilly's expression turned cold. Forming blades of highly compressed air, Lilly tapped the ground and sent waves of mana through the ground which activated behind the hostiles.

"Wha!-"

Without warning spikes of rock emerged from behind the elvers attacking Lilly, ending a large part of them as they were too preoccupied with trying to wear down her defences. Those that survived had their focus broken for a split second as they avoided the rock spikes and emerged from their cover, something Lilly took full advantage of. Either they were skewered by rock spikes, slashed to pieces by blades of compressed air or ma.s.sacred by the ferocious creature which called out commands covered in blood with a smile on her face. Feeling quite drained of morale by their oppositions effectiveness and ferociously effective strategies a small group of elvers chose to retreat, a smart by ultimately fruitless effort as they were observed by a pair of clear blue eyes that shone coldly in the dark. Before they knew it Mare charged, instantly closing the range as she drew a pair of knives she wielded with ruthless efficiency.

"... Clear."

Taking a second to wipe blood spatter off her face Mare took a deep breath of the cold night air to calm down slightly.

"It's clear over here too."

Sitting on top of a chair she had made of bedrock as she emitted a sense of superiority, Lilly had also long since wiped out her opposition.

"Good work, then let's move up!"

Seeing how reliable her teammates were, Lux couldn't help it as she bloomed a slight smile.

"He's behind the wall over there."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm positive, the mana signature is insane, it is definitely angelic in nature."

Looking from cover at a school building, Victor could clearly feel the intense mana signature radiating from the angel that was conducting some kind of ritual.

"I'm going to crash his party."

Forming a complex rune formation in mid air, Victor stealthy gathered an absurd amount of mana, then pointed his hands at the building.

"Spell 0023: Howl."

Muttering the incarnation of his own original spell Victor formed another spell right after.

"Spell 0011: Battering ram."

"Well isn't that just adorable?"

Having completely seen through Victors attempt to overwhelm her, Melisha waved her hand while she still worked on ritual.

"Rampart formation: Bulwark."

Even as the 3 winged angel was confident of her superiority she still took the attempt to attack her seriously, making sure her spell was properly constructed by visualizing it first as she spoke out its name. A split second later Victor's spells landed, the first one was a powerful wind spell that hit the outer wall with hurricane level winds, weaking the structural integrity by a considerable level. Then right after the first spell hit the wall, it was completely shattered as the second spell lived up to its name.

"Interesting.."

"No that's not interesting, it's bad!"

Seeing how Melisha completely negated the spell, Victor couldn't help being fascinated with how she weaved the its construction, even as Terra tried to dissuade him.

"I'm busy, parish like the pests you are."

Still keeping up her defences Melisha formed a offensive spell to deal with the distractions, not even looking as she send over a hundred fist sized crystals flying towards Victor.

"s.h.i.+!-"

Seeing the life flash before her eyes Terra started shooting fully automatic with her Rex-0999 in a futile attempt to shoot down the incoming projectiles.

"Spell 0012: Phalanx."

Victor however kept entirely calm as he had expected such a response, forming a formation of golden crystals s.h.i.+elds which took full advantage of knowledge he had learned from Dax.

"What!?"

Seeing her spell being completely deflected instead of skewer the pests, Melisha's eyes widened in shock for a second. But after the brief surprise the angel realized that the human's defences were so effective because the s.h.i.+elds were highly angled and deployed in interlocking layers so as to maximize their defensive potential.

(Fascinating, but still ultimately futile..)

Even if the human could construct a defence that was st.u.r.dy enough to hold back her half a.s.sed attempt at killing him, it would make no difference.

(All you have achieved is making me take this a bit more serious.)

"Javelin formation: Righteous cleansing."

Flapping her wings as she channeled mana trough them a formless presence formed in front of Melisha's outstretched hand, making Victor hurriedly construct another defensive spell.

"Spell 0013: Refraction!"

Out in front of the phalanx s.h.i.+elds another defensive spell took shape according to Victor's desire and clear mental picture. The second Melisha completed her spell, a blinding pillar of light shoot out towards Victor, vaporizing nearby rubble as it sterilized everything it touched. The righteous cleansing didn't hit its intended target however, as right before it melted Victor the laser refracted before it was pa.s.sed through a crystal prism and was reduced to a rainbow which was deflected away.

"Holy s.h.i.+t!!"

While Victor flawlessly handled the spells Melisha threw at him Terra wasn't idle, even as she was in awe of the display. Finding a elevated firing position Dax's disciple set up her Rex-0999's bipod, releasing a precise burst of fully automatic fire at the angel. The standard anti personnel ammunition she fired did very little to angel's defensive barrier however, but cracks were gradually forming which increased Melisha's irritation as she was forced to almost constantly supply the formation with more mana.

"f.u.c.k off!"

Switching her attention to the annoying bug that kept on pestering her, the black winged angel pointed her hand towards Terra, collecting mana into an array of golden crystals.

"I don't think so!"

However by neglecting Victor for even a split second the angel left herself extremely vulnerable, and Victor was not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

"Spell 0023: Howl!"

Sending a boulder sized ball of compressed air hurling towards Melisha she was forced to abandon the construction of her offensive spell, instead coalescing the half done crystals into a single ma.s.s which she used to counter Victor's offence.

(f.u.c.king h.e.l.l!)

Feeling her irritation spike as she was forced to deal with the 2 pests, Melisha briefly contemplated using ascension to increase her avalible mana so she could overwelm them, but ultimately abandoned the idea as that would disrupt the ritual she was currently still maintaining.

(Too little mana in the area to deal with them… But the ritual is almost complete, I just need a little more time!)

Seeing the large spell formation pulse in an ominous red light around the unconscious Dax, a faint smile formed on Melisha's lips as she prepared another offensive spell.

"Javelin formation: Lightning spear of the prophet."

As if filled with bloodl.u.s.t, the new arm sized golden crystal Melisha formed cracked with holy lighting it had been blessed with as it rushed towards its target. This time the angel didn't even check the effect the spell had on the human mage, instead she immediately reinforced her defences before turning her attention completely to finalizing the ritual.

"AWAKEN TO DEVOUR THE WORLD!"

Seeing the ritual responding as her new master had taught her, Melisha's smile bloomed fully as a truly unholy presence was ripped out of Dax and gained material form.

(My master's prediction did come true! It was one of the old ones possessing that demonkin~)

Feeling delightful bliss as she gained a truly reliable teammate, Melisha started to work out how she would make the pests that had tried to interrupt her suffer.
