168 Incident At The Magic Academy 10

Finally having completed the gigantic and ultra complex spell formation that spread out all over the lecture hall Melisha increased her concentration as the entire room started glowing in an ominous red light. While a large part of her focus had to be on the spell formation the angel was not over confident enough to believe she wasn't open for attack, therefore she was guarded all around inside the lecture hall by armed guards. Not a single one of the elvers noticed the grenade that was tossed into the room before it was too late however, as they were not familiar with that kind of warfare. What followed immediately after was a hail of precise and lethal automatic fire from a concealed location the elvers couldn't locate. Looking up as they were either hurt from the blast, or looking for a target to shoot back at the elvers made for easy targets that Lux picked off with ruthless efficiency. Only the 3 winged angel seemed to immediately locate the shooter, with an annoyed look on her face Melisha used her bare hand to deflect a bullet that about to hit her in the head, before she grabbed the rifle of a nearby elver and pointed it in the right direction and gestured for him to shoot. After the initial short burst Melisha felt mana from the directron of fire as the shooting ceased, and her mood worsened.

"Not when I am this close..."

With a simple handwave the angel commanded the ambient mana in the air without affecting the large scale ritual she was currently working on, making the atmosphere vibrate violently as it compressed unnaturally and smashed apart the wall.

"Don't let them interrupt the ritual! Kill them all for good this time!"

Feeling rage overtake her being, Melisha took a deep breath as she calmed her nerves slightly before muttering to herself.

"Not when I am this close, to my freedom, to life once more."

---

"It's time."

"Yeah."

"How confident are you?"

"Would you like to know?"

"... Nevermind, let's do this."

Deciding it was better not knowing her odds, Terra breathed a deep sigh as she focused on the current task at hand. Priming her weapon she challenged mana through her entire body, unbeknownst to her the stretching magic was far more powerful than it ever had been strengthening, due to the changes her body had been undergoing for the last few years. Approaching the site without any attempts to hide or conceal their presence Terra and Victor had the unenviable job of directly disrupting the angel's work while Lux, Mare and Lilly cleared out the other hostiles. With Terra up front and Victor right behind with a hand on her shoulder, the duo from Black Hollow made the best use of the training they had both received from Dax.

"Contact, pattern bravo."

Terra being the more experienced fighter called the shorts as Victor followed, responding to her first command by tapping his foot on the ground below, making multiple builders of rock float around them as they compressed in kites.h.i.+elds.

"Bravo online."

"Threat front!"

"Threat front confirmed!"

Glowing brightly as complex runic formations spread all over them, the s.h.i.+elds made of rock formed into a barrier in front of Terra, leaving a gap for her to still engage hostiles.

(Payback is a cruel f.u.c.king mistress, and so am I.)

Hardening her resolve Terra singled out a single elver then squeezed the trigger, watching as the elvers head exploded.

"Pattern charlie!"

Seeing that they were getting slowly outflanked, Terra called for Victor to take a more active role. Responding immediately to the callout Victor secured the front by transforming the wall of floating kites.h.i.+elds into a stationary barricade, channeling another spell with impunity. Having completed the complex spell in under a second, Victor smashed his foot into the ground as deep cracks spread out in the stone below.

"I see all."

As a golden film of runes formed over his eyes Victor saw the pure life essence that all beings which interacted with mana radiated, and so he saw clear trough all cover. With his new all seeing sight Victor's eyes turned cold as he let the masks of emotion fall, forming attack spells with no hesitation. Invoking his spell thin golden crystals formed in the air, and after a second they ruthlessly seeked out their targets, aiming for the medulla oblongata, the lowest part of the brainstem.

"Charlie online."

As about 6 elvers fell to the ground lifelessly the crystal needles returned to Victor's side, ready for new targets as countless more formed. Terra meanwhile were not idle as she charged the defenders position, using a combination of fully automatic rifle fire, superior agility and grenades she shattered the elvers poor attempt at a defence.

"Hostiles wiped out… Victor are you good?"

"Good."

"Good then, let's go kill ourselves an angel."

"Useless f.u.c.king things…"

Sensing her allies fall by an ever increasing rate the 3 winged angel only showed disdain and disappointment, how useless and inferior those creatures were in aiding with the mission that would grant her freedom.

"Seems like you should have considered your allies more carefully~"

Hearing Dax's voice Melisha was startled, with the ritual underway Dax should be excruciating pain and it would be impossible for him to speak, let alone remain aware.

"What!? How are you still-"

"Conscious? That's easy. Like I said, pain is an old friend. One that I welcome and embrace with open arms, such are the way of my people."

Speaking with a bit of difficulties Dax sat in the middle of the spell formation that was supposed to, among other things, increase the effects of the curse he was under by several magnitudes, yet Dax smiled as bloodl.u.s.t radiated from his body. In that moment the mortal qiton looked like something else entirely, if Melisha knew of his nickname he had obtained in his crucible she would agree that it was fitting.
