26 Chapter 26:

"What...? What's h-"

"Come. You've rested enough. Time for both of you to leave." She says, turning away and leaving the room. Her gorgeous deep red cape following her every movement flawlessly.

"Zavier. I'm confused. What h"

"I don't know." He admits, still waking up when standing up and slipping his s.h.i.+rt over his head. "Here." Zavier handed me my cape as I thanked him and stood up.

We quickly collected our few things while I blinked back and felt a surge of power from within me. It was as if I was drinking the very power from the coven. The power causing me to feel more energized and more aware of my surroundings.

Surely, I'd have to speak with Jerson about another plan to come back in another disguise. However, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to find my revenge or just to figure out why I felt so powerful here all of a sudden.

"I don't have all day." A sharp, cold voice cut through my thoughts when I glanced up and found Archmage Seria watching us. Though her eyes seemed to linger on me more than Zavier.

"Come on, love." Zavier grasped my hand and pulled me through the door. She took the lead, bringing us back to the door while my eyes looked around. Seeing all the mystical things and magic that was streaming around this place.

It felt like I was finally home.

And yet I hated that feeling since I was thrown out of here as a child.

"Please do not return here. Just because we allowed you in this one time doesn't mean we won't attack you the next time." Archmage Seria told us, the young mage opening the gate as we stumbled out of the coven area.

I turned back to look at her, unsure of what to say when the gate closed back. Seria watching us intently as Zavier pulled me along.

Something about that place made me rethink my previous intentions.

That place wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. It just seemed like a place where mages and wizards were safe from prejudice.

Why would the league want the leader of this place?

Clearly, Seria was some kind of leader but I felt that she wasn't the overall leader of the coven. The mages respected her and she will prove as a problem in our plans to figure out the overall leader and my biological parents.

It all happened so quickly that I wasn't even sure how or if my parents were even still there. I was so confused to why she was so quick to throw us out, but I was determined to get back in there and find my answers.

"So? Now what?" Zavier finally asks when I pried my hand from his and ran my hand through my hair.

"I'm not sure. Let's find Jerson for now. He will probably have a few ideas." I said and glanced over at him. "Why did you come?" I finally question as he shrugged and stuffed his hands into his pocks.

"Because I refuse to let you go again." He says like it was the simplest thing to say making me roll my eyes and continuing walking. "Why did you change your appearance?" Zavier caught up with me, walking close beside me.

"Because it adds to the innocence of my character," I answer half the truth, knowing that if I didn't that he would have found me out.

"Oh." He didn't look like he believed my answer but I didn't bother to try and convince him. That was one of the reasons I changed my look.

That and the fact that Seria and I looked alike which would make me look like an imposter.

We walked in silence, just soaking in the sunlight that was streaming through the trees above us. I wasn't sure where Jerson was, to be honest, but I was sure that he'd eventually reveal himself.

I noticed a large meadow and in the middle of it there was Jerson under a large umbrella and sitting on a beach like a chair. The sight irritated the h.e.l.l out of me when I nudged Zavier and nodded to the meadow.

This man...

"I am going to kill him," I mutter under my breath, walking quicker than before to where Jerson was. Zavier followed behind, his caution making me grow alert since his wolf senses were greater than my witch senses.

"How lovely for you to finally join me! Would you mind making it dark for me? I hate the sunlight sometimes." Jerson yells happily, setting his phone down while I shook my head and snapped my finger causing the cloud to create a barrier from the sunlight. "Thanks, darling." He winks making Zavier snarl at him.

"Stop," I warn Zavier as he huffed and glanced around the meadow. "What's plan B?" I ask Jerson with an exhausted look when he smirked and stood up from the chair.

"There was no plan B, darling. However, I did, in fact, contact the league for some advice and they told me in order to go through with this plan is to subdue you." He says as both Zavier and I shared a look.

"Excuse me?" I watched him step closer to me, not backing down from him but knowing I should right at the moment.

"Silly girl. My a.s.signment was to grow closer to you and get your weakness. The league was very excited to know that I was able to pull you away from that stupid pack. You were very adamant about protecting it." He grabbed my chin harshly when Zavier shoved him hard, holding onto me as he glared at Jerson.

"Jerson. You must be idiotic. I don't have any weaknesses." I chuckle, watching him stand up.

"You must be in denial. That man is your weakness. I've seen it in your eyes ever since I was given this job. You love him." Jerson states out loud while I narrow my eyes at him.

I didn't say anything, unsure of what to even say as I felt Zavier s.h.i.+ft and look the opposite way as if there was someone. Jerson grinned darkly and cracked his fists.

"I've been waiting a very long time to do this Xenon. It's time for you to return with us once and for all." I felt Zavier snarl loudly, letting me go and s.h.i.+fting into his wolf. I spun around, seeing several people coming from the forest. Many of them I recognized from the league and remember from the training I was sentenced to go through.

"a.s.shole," I growl, through a flame of fire at him when I dodged it easily. "Zavier be careful. They are trained a.s.sa.s.sins." I warn him knowing he could take a few but not the six coming towards us slowly. "Celeritate gloriabor," I whisper, placing my hand on top of Zavier's head and boasting his speed so he could match a vampires speed.

I was slammed to the ground, Jerson trying like h.e.l.l to get some of my blood but Zavier was quick to throw him off me. His wide green eyes looking at me when I nodded and stood up.

"I increased your speed. You'll be just as fast as that a.s.shole." I smirk, dispersing the cloud and allowing the sunlight to come in and slow his movements.

Zavier nods to me when going over to the other a.s.sa.s.sins, leaving me with the harder guy. I turned to Jerson, cracking my fists and stretching my arms.

"I knew you'd turn on me. Enough money and anyone can make you their slave." I insult as Jerson stood up again, looking like he was ready to kill me rather than bring me in alive. We both knew the league wanted to deal with me themselves and if he killed me here, then the league would personally murder Jerson.

"Oh, and you weren't the same? I know of the rumors of what you've done. You call me the monster when I know d.a.m.n well you are the darker one out of the two." He scoffs, reminding me of what I did back when I was apart of the league. "Give up this nice facade you have. We both know you want to kill just as much as me. Maybe even more than me. I can see it in your eyes. You are a very open book to me Xenon." He said with a growing grin making me growl and throwing a flame of fire.

"You don't know me! You don't know what I am capable of! You may think you know everything but you don't!" I yell at him throwing a burst of electricity at him, causing them to reach the skies above us.

He ran out of the way before speeding over to me and landing a sickening punch to my jaw. I jerked back, grasping my jaw when he held onto his arm, the lightning I threw at him had caught him in the crossfire.

"I know you well enough that if your boyfriend over there gets harmed that you'll stop everything to help him." He says truthfully while I recovered from his. .h.i.t.

I didn't say anything other than calling upon a dangerous thunderstorm, knowing that the storm served as a way to use more spells with lightning and rain with less energy. The vicious winds caused the fight between Zavier and the others to cease for a moment while I caught Jerson's eyes.

"I don't come to play the game Jerson. I come to win." I admit to him, referring to this battle as a game when he hissed and ran up to me. He wasn't quick enough to knock me off my feet as I spun around and kicked him in the back.

Jerson was lucky enough to get a scratch on my arm before he was knocked down to the ground. I laughed out loud, throwing down a gust of lightning but he jumped out of the way in time.

Both of us were panting before he came up to me, tearing away my cape while I tried reaching out to him but he was out of the way before I could touch him. I snarled under my breath, spinning around as he rammed right into me.

He knocked us to the ground while I tried pus.h.i.+ng him off me, though there was no way to get out of this position. I heard Zavier whimper out loud causing me to snap my eyes over to where he was.

He was getting cornered, two of the a.s.sa.s.sins on the ground in a pit of their own blood when the other four closed in on him. I struggled underneath Jerson's grip, trying with all my strength to get up. All my sane thoughts leaving my mind.

"Let me go! Zavier!" I scream, thras.h.i.+ng underneath him while he grabbed my face and forced me to look at him.

"Weakness." He simply sneers as I felt my heart beat increasing.

"Get off me! Get away from him you b.a.s.t.a.r.ds!" I scream once again, ignoring his words when looking out to where Zavier was. Trying to think of something, anything to help him.

"Why must you make this hard on yourself?" Jerson sighs before I felt him pierce my neck causing another scream to leave me. A crackle of thunder rang through the skies as a flash of lightning hit the ground beside us.

It didn't phase Jerson at all while he continued to lapse at my blood, my body growing weaker by the second. I watched helplessly as the a.s.sa.s.sins think of ways to harm Zavier more.

My vision started to blur before Jerson pulled away, blood coating his satisfied lips that turned up in a smile.

"Jesus. If I knew you tasted that good I would never let the league have you." He said in a darker voice before standing up and pulling me up off the ground. His hands feeling like burns that touched me as he practically dragged me to where the other a.s.sa.s.sins were.

My mind was foggy and I felt like I needed to pa.s.s out, but I knew that if I did I would lose Zavier and my freedom. I strained my eyes on the ground, trying to keep myself from pa.s.sing out.

"This wasn't that hard. I told you that this man was her weakness." Jerson tossed me to where Zavier's wolf was bleeding making me growl at him. "Even after drinking much of her blood she's like this. I swear, she never goes down." He sighs, talking more to the other a.s.sa.s.sins than me.

"Her wolf was fairly strong. You said he was an Alpha? Tsk. What a lie." A woman said while I cradled Zavier head in my lap, struggling to sit up on my own.

"It's alright. Stay awake." I whisper to him, hoping he could hear me.

"Look at that. She's such a weak being now. I can't we ever called her our best. Pathetic." Another man spat when I growled at them and glared up at them.

"You have no idea who you are messing with." I snap as Jerson knelt down and smirked at me.

"Of course we do. It's one of the reasons we've hurt your little wolf so badly. The only way for you to come with us is if we leave him alive. That is if you come with us without a fight again." Jerson's smirk turned into a s.a.d.i.s.tic grin while I held onto Zavier more before standing.

He stood with me, the a.s.sa.s.sins smiling in victory and looking at me like I was going to comply. I stared at each of them and started to laugh which surprised them all.

"Why are you laughing?" Jerson questions when I wipe a tear from my eye and felt the surge of power that the coven was giving me. Even from this far away, I could feel their power radiating through me.

"Because you truly thought I would agree to this. It's just pitiful." I said and closed my eyes. "Ventus, aqua, ignis, et ignis. Tantum hostium pellamus venite ad inferis. Et ibi vivant, ut in aeternum non-videbit lumen die iterum." I felt all the energy inside of me release out of me as a large explosion circled us, Zavier protected in a s.h.i.+eld I set up around him.

Colors and winds circled all of us, fire licked at the a.s.sa.s.sins while lightning spewed from above and harmed them. The fire and wind barrier keeping them in the chaos of all of the magic coming from me.

I could see the water that I called upon suffocating them and preventing their bellows for help. Jerson glared at me, lunging towards me as I ducked underneath him, making him hit the wind and fire barrier.

He roared in pain, his face burning as the wind helped the fire spread his face. I couldn't help but smile and call the last part of my spell.

Several of their screams were cut short before the elements of the storm took hold of them. A large gash in the ground caused the a.s.sa.s.sins to fall through the cracks, Jerson trying like h.e.l.l to keep from falling but it was a lost cause.

I could see the fear within his eyes, the fear that I was used to seeing in several of my victims before they died in my hands. I could tell he ever regretted going against me, but I was taking to much pleasure in killing him in front of me.

"WHAT THE f.u.c.k?!" He roars, falling into the everlasting pit of fire while the explosion of elements I called upon burst into the sky, causing an even larger explosion. I stared at the burst of colors and elements in the sky like it was a firework, the storm disappearing and leaving the sun to peak through the dispersing clouds.

In a flash, I was at Zavier's side and looking at him in fear. My hands shook terribly while he s.h.i.+fted back into his human form, cuts, and bruises littering his body.

"No. No no no no. Zavier. Please. Wake up." I whisper desperately when he stayed asleep and was unresponsive to my touch. "It's okay. I'll use the last bit of my energy to save you. Yo-"

I felt something covering my shoulders causing me to jump up off the ground and get ready to throw more spells at the person but they grabbed my hands.

"Archmage Seria..." I blink my shock as a few other high mages came to our side and knelt down to Zavier. "Don't touch him." I snarl, shoving her away and blocking Zavier from them. Even if I don't have the power to fight them, there was no way I was going to let them touch him.

"Rest a.s.sured. We aren't here to harm you. Allow us to help you both." She says, taping on my head when I felt my energy leaving me quicker than before.

"You b.a.s.t.a.r.d. You-" I dropped to the ground beside Zavier, trying to stay awake as she peered down at me. Her cold eyes still looking at me before she barked orders at the other mages that I couldn't hear.

My eyes were betraying me when I felt myself being lifted up, Zavier beside me as I weakly grasped his hand. Not wanting to let go before I pa.s.sed out.
