5 Chapter 5:

It's horrible enough without them here... just imagine them involved...

"Seriously? You're trying to keep us from being here ag-" I noticed something s.h.i.+ne in the corner of my eye before s.h.i.+fting into my wolf and das.h.i.+ng for the dagger being thrown in her direction.

A yelp left me as the knife sliced into my furs and into my skin, the poison crawling within me as I shook the knife away and guarded the shocked girl. The a.s.sa.s.sin narrowed his eyes towards me and revealed himself from his camouflage form.

"Always so in tune aren't you, Navalina?" He asks, balancing a knife on his finger when I licked my aching canines.

I swat the girl with my tail, indicating she'd leave because this was only the beginning to his fight. This man was completely insane and was not afraid to take things to the next much like my Luna.

"Hayden, Harley. Come on. This is her fight." The girl finally takes a step back but the action only seemed to amuse him more and the thought of hurting them was more than what I could take.

"Chasing away my prey already, Navalina? Now now. Must you always be trouble?" He questions me and closed his eyes with his hand outstretched towards them. Within seconds, his dark magic tried enveloping around them but thankfully from our last fight I still remember all his moves.

I slammed them on the ground, feeling the sc.r.a.p of dark magic on my back and causing my skin to wither away. A low snarl leaving my lips when I jumped off the ground and dove for him.

"Oh come on. You've tried this before, Navalina." He reminds as I leaped from another of his attacks and s.h.i.+fted back within a flash. I slammed my fist into his surprised face while he jumped back and threw another sharp blast of dark magic.

My reflexes were quicker than ever as I ducked underneath the blast and dove side to side to throw him off his trail. He was trying to keep up with me, the crowd now screaming his name and forgetting all about me.

"You son of a b.i.t.c.h!" I yell, jumping off the ground a few feet from him and giving him a swift roundhouse kick that made the people around us grow insane. The mage coughed up some blood while pressing a hand to the ground, his dark magic covering the ground and causing both of us to fall through the ground.

A scream ripped through my lungs before I even hit the ground, the ground coming up to me fast and unexpected. The air within my lungs being thrown out at the force of the ground, my ribs aching with a burning pain that told me I broke a few ribs.

I gasped for breaths, rolling over on my back and staring up at the hole above me when another low groan resonated a few feet away from me. My head rolled over to the struggling, bent over figure on the ground.

"You..." I hiss, slowly following suit and struggling to sit up with my arm cradling my aching ribs. It felt like my whole insides were turned into slush and there was nothing I could do. Not even time could repair an injury like this one.

Not with everything that I've been withstanding for the past month.

The mage slowly got off the ground, his right eye b.l.o.o.d.y and his hand held onto it tightly. Blood oozed from his fingers and I could by the frightened look on his face that he could barely see me.

"Looks like we both lost tonight," I comment, finally getting to my feet and hold onto the nearby ruble from our fall. He narrowed his one eye before lifting his hand once again.

"No way in h.e.l.l. I would never lose to the weak like you." He snarls while I leaped from his direct attack and out of the hole. My sides burned in agony, forcing me to collapse on the ground and hold onto my breaking ribs.

"Navalin"

"Stay there!" I shout at the twins and girl before the mage leaped from the hole as well and tore a piece of his s.h.i.+rt.

"Always so heroic, just like when Barack and Lily died." His words sent a dagger through my heart while the crowd watched us silently. I felt my renewed anger rising from within me before I stood up and glared daggers at him.

"Shut up. You have no right to bring them up!" I scream dangerously, watching him wrap the fabric around his bleeding eye with a horrifying smile.

"What? You must have felt so much despair watching your poor Barack die while protecting you and Lily. You must have felt like you died when you watched your little Lily die from starvation." He crept over to me and brushed his lips over my trembling face. "You had your last ounce of sanity ripped away when we caused you to have your miscarriage... What a terrible experience." He sighs, pulling away with a s.a.d.i.s.tic grin on his lips and I knew every person in the arena heard his words.

The memories resurfaced and I felt something rise within me that I haven't felt in a very long.

"SHUT UP!" I snarl, speeding over to him and grabbing him by his dirty black hair and throwing him to the ground. The crowd once again starting screaming, whether, for me or the man, I didn't care.

I wanted him dead.

My fist flew into his face, over and over again. He tried to attack me back but his attempts were futile, whether my skins burned away at the feeling of his dark magic or not. I didn't care.

The only thing I did care about was getting revenge for exposing my darkest secrets to the pathetic crowd.

I felt my teeth lengthen with the thirst to tear his throat out, to murder him in cold blood much like how my family was.

He deserved this.

This man didn't deserve to live.

Without another thought, I sunk my teeth into his neck and his blood gave me a much-needed refreshment. I didn't care what they knew, I wanted him to feel as much pain as I did watch my family die.

I released my venom into him, knowing I'd lose control of myself if I continued my onslaught. The man's screams finally broke through my heated anger as I let him go and threw him to the ground. He withered on the ground, the darkness crawling into his body and around his blood.

The sight oddly satisfying.

The crowd was going crazy for the new discovery of my power, not realizing that I was a hybrid.

One that the mages created.

I was Navalina.

A wolf where her bite would poison anyone...

Even a second chance mate.

I slipped on the baggy t-s.h.i.+rt, hearing my door click open but I refused to look over at it and continued dressing into comfy clothing. My bones and mind were broken from the fight earlier, and if I knew any better.

This was their way of breaking my spirit down.

h.e.l.l, it worked.

"What is it you want, a.s.sa.s.sin? Can't you see I am getting changed?" I ask in a small voice, not having the strength to speak any louder and glanced over my shoulder and noticed a lone a.s.sa.s.sin standing in the middle of my new room. "What?" I snap, not really in the mood.

The a.s.sa.s.sin stepped closer and I felt myself stepping backward, the aching in my ribs returning and making me double over the dresser behind me. I noticed the flash of sorrow in the a.s.sa.s.sin's blue eyes while they stepped closer once again.

"If you-" The a.s.sa.s.sin reached up to their head wrap that covered their face and unwrapped it. The frenzy of light brown being released with the familiarity of the blueness in their eyes. A sharp breath entered into my body when I realized who it was, but the adrenaline I had escaped me within seconds.

"My Nava. I am here now. It is okay. I will-"

"You shouldn't be here," I said sharply, looking around for something to distract me from the long aching within my chest. For once, I knew the ache wasn't for my broken ribs.

It was for his comfort...

A mate's comfort.

The mage took a step and outstretched his hand with a small smile, "My Nava. I am here to bring you home and away from this place." He says with a brilliant smile that nearly cracks me.

"I don't have a home, mage. Also, don't call me yours. We are nothing." I growl deep within my throat though the action only made him laugh and take another step towards me.

"The name is Levi once again." He introduces once again but I only narrowed my eyes at him, his demeanor changed however as he cast his eyes down. "I heard what happened with your... previous relations.h.i.+p. I a.s.sure you that I am more than capable to protect y-"

His words caused me to lash out. I lunged towards him and slammed him against the wall, my eyes watching him with hurt and pain that I couldn't understand. My hands gripped his s.h.i.+rt tightly, but my hands were trembling terribly and I knew why.

He was bringing up memories that wanted to be long forgotten.

"My Barack protecting me with his life! He protected me, Lily, and his future child!" I scream, feeling my tears rush to my eyes. "You have no right to say a word about him! He was the strongest warrior and the love of my life! He was my mate! Not you!" I hit the wall beside the mage's head, my breathing in short spurts of breath while he stared down at me with a masked emotion.

My body was shaking terribly from the memories that threatened to come back, from my injuries, and from his words. His words hurt me most and I knew that a low-level mage like himself shouldn't have such an effect on me but it did.

And I felt like I was betraying my Barack and our family if I felt the mate bound with this... this witch!

Witches were what tore my family apart in the first place!

They took everything I ever loved away from me!

What makes him think he is any different?!

"Nava let him go." A stern, authoritative voice spoke as everything within me shut down and listened to him. I released the mage, glaring daggers at him before glancing over at the ruffled mess of an Alpha.

"My Alpha, is my Luna alright? Has she been taken care of?" I ask him in a calmer voice while he nods with a small smile stretching on his face.

"Yes. Faye is safe because of you." He informs making me sigh with relief and look back at the mage then at him.

"Why are you both here? If they know you are here then you both will be captured as well." I point out, not caring for the mage but only for my Alpha.

"We came here to save you." The mage speaks up before I bursted into laughter, the sound unfamiliar to me.

"I don't need saving, mage," I comment, the thought of a meek mage saving me sending me into another round of laughter. The action causing my aching ribs to hurt even worse.

"Why don't you let me do the talking, Levi?" My Alpha tells the mage when motioning me to sit down on the bed, probably noticing my pain from standing too long. I followed his silent order and sat down, holding my arm over my aching ribs.

I noticed the mage's gaze at the dead body that was still in my room, Wyn laying in a pit of blood after he disrespected my Luna in such a way. He deserved everything that came for him.

"We came to stop your suicidal plan. My mate told me what your intentions were." My Alpha says while I grit my teeth and looked away from the dead body.

"How would my Luna know anything? I didn't tell her any of my plans." I said not even realizing how rude I just sounded.

He simply narrowed his eyes at me before shrugging, "Women's intuition I guess. I'm not sure, but you aren't denying the fact that you are remaining here to kill them for what happened." My Alpha notes and I stood up from the bed and glared at him.

"Don't you dare mention that. I will not have you disrespect them in any manner." I snarl. Not caring if my disobedience would cause for my place in the pack.

I lived as a rogue once, I don't mind going down that road again.

"I'm going to let you off the hook for you speaking to me in such a manner this time. I wasn't trying to anger you, Nava, but you can't keep going like this." My Alpha took a step towards me and rested his hand on my shoulder. "If you keep going at this rate you will end up dying and there's nothing we can do if you don't let us help you." He says seriously when I removed his hand and rubbed my shoulder.

I looked away from his green gaze and down at the ground.

My Alpha had no idea of the horrors that I've been through, what I'd done to people here. I slaughtered the helpless and hunted the strong. There's no other place for me other than here.

I'm a monster and this is my den.

"I can not leave." I simply say and turned away from my Alpha and towards my bed. "They've made me into something I can't come back from. If you thought I was bad before... They've only caused the beast to come out now. I don't want to return and treated like a monster. At least here, I'm wanted." I admit more to myself while leaning against the post of the bed.

Neither of them said anything and that only proved my thoughts making me think back to how everything was a lie. How the pack accepted me, then rejected me, thinking that I'd finally find something only to have everything derail once I found out my Luna was an a.s.sa.s.sin and witch.

Everything I've ever done for the pack only for their benefit and how I was just something to be thrown to the side.

How I've been used repeatedly...

"Please... Y-"

I heard the clacking on the ground from the a.s.sa.s.sins boots making me react quickly. Before either of them realized what was happening, I shoved them into the restroom and closed the door quickly.

Can't I get a f.u.c.king minute to rest?!
