15 『Rapport』

"Good Morning, Jack-sama." Ever since the appearance of hostile forces near the Village that Jack decided to visit, his tone had become more stern. His Flamboyance had become even more subtle, less noticeable. "The Warrior Troop has left the village this morning at dawn. They will be reaching the Nearest Population center in several hours."

"...Thank you for the update," his eyes settled on the undead which was standing at the foot of his bed. Expressionless at first, he would give the Overlord a soft smile. "Is there anymore activity nearby?"

"The Slane Theocracy has not retaliated. It seems they have grown cautious. Now, as based on our observations of E-Rantel, there is increased undead activity in its local cemetery and multiple persons have gone missing." Teetle turned his skull like head to the side slightly, caressing his chin in thought. A serious look could be interpreted from his fiery eyes as they danced along the dark walls of the room.

"Increased Undead Activity?" Jack would slowly sit up, curious about this. "Did the nation not cleanse the undead population with their military forces?"

"No. It seems the graveyard is used to supplement the advancement tests for Adventurers. Unlike the Baharuth Empire to the East, as we've taken note of, the Re-Estize Kingdom heavily reserves its military forces... Likely due to their economy. It's unlikely they'll be unlikely to survive a war." The undead made an imitation of a sigh, clearly judging the inept.i.tude of the Kingdom. "The use of wide scale divine magic or rituals have not been detected in the area. However, from what we've seen is that less than half of these undead are naturally occurring."

"Oh…?" Jack smirked slightly hearing that last bit, finding that it was likely someone was making these undead rather than them sp.a.w.ning in from hatred and suffering. "What are your thoughts?"

Teetle turned to face his master, bowing his head as he was given the opportunity to speak his mind. "As to be expected of you, Guild Master, to be perceiving my capacity for insight."

"Go on," Jack gestured towards the skeleton as he would s.h.i.+ft off the side of the bed, looking over himself for a moment, before shrugging. Standing up beside the bed, he would begin to adjust his load out as he changed into his World Champion-cla.s.s armor robes.

"At the rate of undead growth, the city maybe overrun in al least seven days or at most a fortnight." Teetle didn't sound grim though as he was giving this information, if anything he sounded exhilarated. As a far superior master of the Undead, Teetle could steal this subtly built army of Undeath.

Jack knew this too, both of the brothers could easily take the army of dead under their control.

A grin formed over his own lips as he shook his head though. How were they going to get all of those undead out of the City? He was sure he could open a portal for the brothers to use, but he was sure there would be many questions as to what happened to the undead head count.

"Keep an eye on it and have your brother focus on the Slane Theocracy with the scrying tool. I want to know everything they're up to." Jack nodded as he gave this order to the Overlord and walked over to his dresser, resting his hand on the sleek black staff which was resting in midair an inch from its surface.

"How is the village doing after the troops left?"

"Peaceful. The Guards have reported no abnormalities in the area. There were no Theocratic survivors." Teetle said with much glee as contrast to his more serious tone he used before.

"Good," Jack nodded to himself as he would scratch the back of his head with his free hand as he lifted the staff to have it at his side.

"Where will you be going this morning?" Teetle inquired without delay.

"Carne Village," He'd say in haste, "Is there anything that needs my attention?"

"Toma has done as you asked and has reverse engineered the production plants technology for further uses. Silva gave him the order to begin designing the machines required for automated ma.s.s production of material goods, equipment and weapons. Do you approve?"

Jack nodded to this simple input and question of verification as she had acted on his own, a.s.suming what he wanted. "She has the foresight to catch onto my next move."

"I shall let them know the moment you leave," Teetle gave a light nod as he tapped his chin, "Is there anything else in particular you'd like us to do, Jack-sama?"

"We need to acquire some of this world's currency, so we can mint our gold coins for international use. The Village Elder showed me the appearance of the coins they had, they're similar to Ancient Greek Drachmas." Though he was sure the Overlord wouldn't know much about Jack's world, he watched as the highly powered Elder Lich nodded in response to his words.

"Perhaps we can have Lannec learn to use a Mirror of Remote Viewing..." They were low-cla.s.s scrying tools and since there were several members in his Guild, they had plenty to at their disposal. "To find a nest of bandits."

"Bandits?" Teetle questioned as he looked over at him.

"If there is a corrupt society, in a medieval realm, then there are destined to be outlaws and highwaymen. Find them, learn their base of operations. Then, I will eliminate them after we've dealt with the cemetery problem... As I've revealed myself, I should make a name for myself as to not be easily attacked without a common people's revolt."

If Teetle could grin any wider, he would, but all that he had was a skull. He had no cheeks, nothing to make such an expression other than his permanent smile of pearly whites. "As you command."

Jack watched as the undead Guardian made his way out of the room. A small chuckle leaving his lips once he was alone in the room. His eyes resting on the holographic projector which displayed an image of his true little sister, which was rotating around in a semi-circle on the writing desk on right side of the room.

Just as he did so, another body came walking in through his bedroom door, or more like darting in and jumping onto his bed!

Jack nonchalantly glanced over towards the bed, resting his sights on a silver haired brat rolling around on the mattress. A small suppressed laugh escaping his throat as he didn't open his mouth.

"...GOOD MORNING!" The little witch shouted, before glancing over towards Jack with a wide grin across her lips. "Oniisama!"

"Good Morning… You caught me right before I left. I see you finally left the meeting room," His head tilted to the side slightly at her, no smile across his face.

"It's been five days and I didn't see anyone appear… It doesn't seem like any of the other fifty four are returning home..." She frowned, as if the grin on her lips had never existed. "At least Oniisama stayed."

Jack shrugged, it wasn't the fault of the others who had never come back. If they knew this was going to happen, he was pretty sure a handful of them would've stayed. "Should they have known... I'm sure if they had a choice, they wouldn't have left."

He did miss the rest of his team, especially a select few he actually saw as true friends. Ones he wouldn't want to hurt with his words, his actions or his fists. But right now, they weren't here.

"Mmm.. If you say so, Oniisama." She muttered quietly as she laid sprawled across his bed, on her side, swirling her finger around on the unsettled blankets and sheets she had disturbed.

Pitching his head down, as he heard the tone of voice she used, clearly showing how she was disappointed that they hadn't stayed for her to play with and to obey.

Jack would make his way towards the door, "I'll see you later," he rested his hand on the bedroom door and pushed it open. Exiting into the corridor, he looked both ways before using the Guild Ring to teleport down to the Castle Plaza.

When he emerged onto the Plaza in front of the Castle's front gates, he rested his sights on the City. Many of the Honor Guard units which had remained here, were now populating it with their presence.

They had still been collecting waste and trash which was laying around. Unique items were stored in the foyer, for Jack to look at. Though he still hadn't gotten around to it since he wanted to mainly focus on the Village for the time being while the others looked at the world around them.

For the time being, he didn't think it was safe to venture too far away from 'home.'

Anika who was standing at the bottom of the steps leading up to the castle plaza, glanced up towards the direction of Jack's presence. "As he woke?" She asked herself aloud as she began to stroll up the steps, behind her was Alfred.

Jack watched as the two appeared before him, "Oh."

"Good Morning Jack-sama," the two of them spoke in unison as they gave full bows to him with their hands over their abdomen as they did so.

"Morning," Jack acknowledged as he would begin to walk down the steps, both of them flanking him on either side. "I'm going to be heading to the Carne Village. Is Silva available?"

"She is currently occupied with a task, she ordered us to wait for you."

Jack nodded as Anika gave him this answer and he turned to look at her, once over. "I will only be needing one of you with me. There are other Guards still at the Village."

Alfred looked to Anika, then back to Jack, before nodding. "I will report to Silva's side at once."

Jack gave a thumbs up as he tapped the sleek staff against the stone grounds beneath his feet. His eyes then drifted towards the architecture around him. Most of the buildings were simple, rectangular or square, with flat roofs. Most of them were two or three stories tall. The usual fifteen feet per floor, making each building roughly between thirty to forty five feet in height.

That didn't at all come close to how high the very ceiling of the underground city was. It dwarfed all of the hundreds of buildings below it. Being well over two hundred feet high.

The City was ultimately separated in two by a ma.s.sive glowing body of water, an artificial lake, which acted as a never ending source of water. After it had been cleaned by the restoration project, no longer polluted, the water became drinkable and transparent.

As he looked to the west and to the east, even to the south directly, there was semi-ovular rings which were elevated slightly more than the next. Each containing homes only two sides of the paths that travel along the center of these rings. High hanging decorative arches separated the city into various districts.

Letting out a soft sigh he then turned his eyes towards the direction of the exit. He didn't feel like watching and he didn't want to be seen just yet near where the entrance was.

Waving his hand, Jack would use『Gate』 in order to form a portal in front of himself and Anika. "Shall we go?" He gestured for her to enter first.

Anika nodded to the supreme being, entering the portal ahead of him before he followed behind.

Seconds later, the two would appear in the very nexus of the Village Center. Human villagers were all crowded along one another, talking. In the very middle of this crowd though, seemed to be Enri.

Blinking several times, he raised a brow, curious of what was going on at the break of dawn. "What's with all the people gathering? Teetle said nothing of this."

Anika shrugged lightly, "Perhaps you can ask her?" She pointed towards Enri who was wadding on over towards them with the people in left behind to watch on as she pa.s.sed through them.

Jack's eyes rested on Enri's lips as they were curled into a half-smile, she was a bit red around the eyes, as if she cried herself to sleep and had yet to wash her face. His eyes trailed along her arm, noting the young Nemu at her side, her eyes were the same.

It seemed to him that after the party and his departure, they mourned in private. Then his gaze went to Enri's face as she was now standing in front of him only a couple steps away.
