38 Krav The Hero

The civilians and those newly awakened stared in awe before cheering loudly but shortly after starting they stopped as they remembered the ones they had just lost. Some began to cry as they rushed out to find a loved one that had fallen while other's mourned in silence having lost no one but respecting the sacrifice that was made. However there were those who began to panic as they realized that there senior most Guilder that had been leading their caravan had died as well, Draig did nothing while these people began to feel terror at the lack of a strong backer.

Though it didn't last long as people began to look at the young man who had managed to triumph over the beast that had slain their former leaders. In the hearts of these people and awakened that youth was their salvation, the strong backer they would need to place their foot in the world and start a settlement.

"Sir, thank you. It is only because of you that any of us are alive after this tragedy, I can tell that sir is a busy person so I will cut straight to the point. We are in need of someone with sir's capabilities, of course we would naturally put sir in charge as you are the backing we need to hold a place in this new world." started a skinny lad with gla.s.ses. He was a former Guilder, his specialty was strategy thus he knew both the what and why when it came to his reasoning for doing this.

As a former Guilder he was aware that normally it would take at least four gold Emblems to deal with regular trolls but this person in front of him defeated one by himself and it was stronger than a normal one to boot. Thus he was planning ahead by gaining a powerful benefactor, if he could convince this man before him to a.s.sume the leader position then they would be set.

Draig could practically read what was going through the kids head and thought for a moment, he did want to start his own forces again though in the form of something far more permanent. Something he could allow to grow in the dark until the moment it would overtake the light, however he couldn't allow his image to be foiled by his notoriety. After what seemed like an eternity Draig looked back to the boy and nodded.

The boy stared at Draig and smiled brightly before thinking of something.

"Sir I never got your name" started the boy

"Krav" lied Draig as the boy ran off the inform the others, coming back quickly with an older man.

"Krav, Liam has informed us that you would be willing to take over in the protection of this caravan. While we do appreciate the offer, I can't help but raise some concerns." started the old man.

"Concerns?" asked Draig with a raised brow as he internally sneered at this old mortal.

"Surely you can understand the doubts many of us would hold for someone who just appeared out of the blue and rescued us. It's not easy for us to just leave our lives in a stranger's hands. However by that same token we have few choices other than to accept your offer but I would at least like the guarantee that you will ensure our safety until we can settle" continued the Old man.

Draig stared at the duo before him as he listened to the old Man he started to get a better idea of the person this kid would become, truly a devious little mortal. He couldn't recall offering to protect this group, instead he remembered the child accompanying this old man asking for him to a.s.sume the leaders.h.i.+p position.

Draig then began thinking over the words that had been spoken and smiled, it seems that he would be able to have some fun with this game after all.

"I promise that I will guarantee your safety until you can settle" stated Draig

"I am glad to hear you say that but I would prefer a oath" started the Old man as he pulled out a rustic looking dagger from some forgotten time.

"What is this" asked Draig warily as he inspected the item.

'Blood Oath- ancient tool used to seal pacts between individuals disallowing either of the one's making the pledge to renege or act in opposition of their Oath'

Draig was a bit impressed but it raised more questions, how was someone without a cla.s.s able to use an enchanted weapon. Even the weapons he had sold to the Knights had an additional formula to allow them to be self sufficient for their energy cost by using the outside Mana.

"Interesting blade, may I ask how you are able to use it without Mana" stated Draig as he stared at the knife.

"It's an old heirloom that is from the times before Guilds, back then they had a cla.s.s called Enchanter. This Cla.s.s was the true reason that humans were able to turn the tides in the war with the other races, allowing even those of us without a cla.s.s to wield magic as if we were Guilders. The blessing they left on their crafts were usable by anyone who possessed the items." answered the Old man as he looked at the knife cheris.h.i.+ng it.

"Interesting" chuckled Draig as he held out his hand.

"You must repeat your Oath" stated the Old man as he swiped the Blade across his own palm.

"I promise that I will guarantee the safety of you and your people until you can settle" stated Draig as the blade slid across his palm paying no attention to his Vampire physique.

As the Blade finished it's trail a red glow burst out before a red mark was posted onto Draig's hand.

"Now you must speak your name" stated the Old man.

"Krav" stated Draig as the red mark on the back of his hand turned black.

"Excellent then that settles our arrangements, Sir Krav I ask that you guide us" said the Old man with a bow.

"Of course" smirked Draig as he walked to the lead of the group and began handing out orders.

'This time I will do things right' thought Draig as he watched everyone pack up and begin getting in position.

However far away in a desolate range of mountains a black castle had taken shape, there men in black Armors could be seen moving about, sparring, or just about anything. At the base of the Mountain castle was a medium sized settlement, there you could see young men lining up by the dozen to enter the Dread Knight Academy. It truly seemed like something precious was taking shape in this wasteland but it couldn't be further from the truth.

In the center of the mountain a memorable youth could be seen though he looked taller and bulkier than before and a ghostly green fire could be seen burning in his eyes.

"Sir we have acquired a few more jobs from the outposts and are currently underway with completion" started another knight in a Dark Leather Armor.

"Enough, get to the point. Has there been any sign of the Leech" asked the Dark Knight

"No sir, we are still searching for him though. However many rumors claim him to be dead already" answered the Leather Knight.

"He's still alive, I can feel it. It's only a matter of time before he lands in our clutches" stated the Dark Knight as he turned his back revealing something odd happening to his body.

His back was no longer the healthy tan skin it used to be, instead giving way to a tougher scale like skin. The leather Knight s.h.i.+vered slightly at the sight.

As the Dark Knight walked away a sort of sc.r.a.ping could be heard along the hallways until he made it to his sleeping quarters.
