Chapter 156 – The Dragonlance Chronicles

"You mean these rock debris?", Glanny poured the rock fragments on a table. "These are ordinary rock particles, they're no longer magical."

"Why is that so?"

“Why won't these magically condensed rocks disappear?” Granny stirred the fragments on the table with his hands. “Your question is too broad, it's like asking how dragons can produce gems and metals and why sprites can cultivate plants. "I don't know anything about dragon breeding Sir, I am just a mage, " Glanny said in a regretful tone. "However, I can recommend to you the book, 'The Dragonlance Chronicles : Dragons of Autumn Twilight' by Master Odom Truth. It describes dragons in great detail. "

“Did you bring this book?”

"No, I actually do not have a copy. I just read it when I was younger and was just a mage's apprentice. It was one of the books my former master had in his collection. He sought more truth in order to find the truth. He traveled to the mainland and I haven't seen him in years. “

Without a book, Liszt could only let Glanny tell him the book's contents.

When a dragon is more than eight hundred years old, it is considered old.

During this time, most of the elderly dragons will leave their home and go to the Valley of the Dragons, a legendary place."

“Some say that the Valley of the Dragons is in the Devil's Sea, some say in the Whirlpool Sea, and some say that it is in the Molding Mountain, but no one has actually seen it, after all, it is a legendary place. They say that dragons bury themselves in the Valley of Dragons. They do not actually die, for they will be reborn after hundreds of years."

There are three major dragon types. Elemental Dragon, Gem Dragon and Metal Dragon.

"Metal dragons can influence metal ores of  gold, silver, copper, iron, aluminum.. etc. The book I said earlier recorded all twenty-three kinds."

“Bra.s.s dragon, bronze dragon, purple copper dragon, white copper dragon, white mouth iron dragon, makou iron dragon, gray-mouthed iron dragon, white heart iron dragon, black heart iron dragon, golden dragon, platinum dragon, silver dragon, mercury dragon … Those are all the metal dragons I can remember. 

Gem dragons can influence gemstones ores, which are roughly divided into blue, red, yellow and green.

There are sapphire dragons, ruby dragons and the like, as well as light sapphire dragons, deep ruby dragons, light emerald dragons and so on. The gems produced by Gem Dragon have extraordinary magical powers. They are low in yield but their value is much higher than that of metal dragon ores.

The monstrous dragons are usually those of the elemental dragon type. They are incarnations of the elements. Fire dragons can influence volcanoes, water dragons can influence oceans, wind dragons can stir up storms, earth dragons can move mountains, and so on.

Master Odom Truth once fought a wind dragon and its blood was spilled across a plain. That place is now called the Wind Roar Valley. At the Glorious Empire, strong winds blow all year around. mages who master the wind element all aspire to reach the valley to feel the dragon's roar in the wind."

“How many years ago did this happen?”

“It's been 4,000 years, according to the life of Master Odom Truth, before the time of the Glorious Empire.”

It has been three thousand years since the founding of the Glorious Empire.

“For four thousand years, the wind dragon's magic in the Wind Roar Valley has not dissipated?”

“Yes, this is due to the power of the dragon. They have the ability to change the world. Unfortunately, not even mages can understand this mystery," Glanny said regretfully while shaking his head.

Liszt was equally shocked.

He has read many knight stories about dragons in low-cla.s.s fiction works, and those portray dragons as magnificent creatures but having the IQ of a puppy.

The records kept by the mages are sure to be authentic for it is true that the magic of the wind dragon has not dissipated for four thousand years.

All these new information made him dizzy and eager to head to Wind Roar valley immediately to see and experience the magic himself. He might as well observe how a wind dragon's magic is different from others. 

Moments later, Liszt's eyes flickered and he asked the mage, "Mr. Glanny, I have read in some knight novels about another dragon type aside from elemental,metal and gem dragons called the Sacred Dragons. Is that true?"

"The Dragonlance Chronicles does not mention such, but I have heard of it. Huh, this is why I do not like knight novels. Most of them are loaded with nonsense ! Nothing is truthful, only lies!" Glanny made it clear he hated knight novels.

"Can you tell me anything about Sacred Dragons? I have only heard of one kind, the Invisible Dragon."

"People who believe in Sacred Dragons say that there are five types."

For someone who's dismissive of knight novels, Glanny sure knows a lot about them. 

“The Fairy Dragon represents life and is believed to be immortal, which is obviously false. The Twilight Dragon which represents time, they say can stop time and that's all I know about it. The Emerald dragon, which represents dreams, can sneak into dreams. I've seen lots of emeralds and jades. What does it have to do with a dragon?", Glanny said despised.

Liszt listened to all this information carefully.

“The invisible dragon representing s.p.a.ce can make a s.p.a.ce ring, which is the kind of ring that can hold a lot of things. It's like a cup storing an elephant. And then there's the last, the Smoke Dragon representing destiny, which I read in the knight novels. They say it looks like a cloud of smoke."

After sharing about the five sacred dragons, Glanny summed it all up scornfully, “No one has ever seen a sacred dragon and no country has such a dragon. It is made up by those who have never seen a dragon and can only dream about it. There's nothing more to say, let's keep talking about magic. “

“Okay.” Liszt said absent-mindedly..
