Chapter 155 – The Embodiment of Truth

As carriages of materials and objects were moved into the new house, Glanny Truth's settlement  in Flower Town formally began.

Liszt hosted Glanny for lunch in the castle.  The town's upper and middle cla.s.s n.o.bility came together, but the banquet atmosphere was quite sloppy.

The mage did not mingle with the others.

He couldn't find anything to to talk about with the people in attendance, so most of the time, it was just Gort and the others enjoying themselves while Glanny just ate and drank, not really immersing himself in the crowd.

The materials needed for the black pearl magical equipment were lacking.

When the party ended that afternoon, Mr. Glanny's work focused on teaching — he also had the task of building crystal lamps, but he was in need of a crystal craftsman, since mages do not sculpt the crystals themselves.

The Flower Caravan then invited Brad, a crystal craftsman, to come to Flower Town tomorrow if he wasn't busy.

"Qi is a form of magic."

Glanny cut the nonsense and went straight to the lectures, " The world is a triangle, with matter, spirit and magic in its corners. We mages believe that those three make up the nature of our world and is also the source of all magic. For us, the mages are the matter, meditation involves the spirit, and the combination of both creates magic. "

"So, what about knights?"

"As I said, magic and qi both deliver spiritual strength to conjure all sorts of fighting techniques. What differs a magician from a knight is that the knight treats himself as a triangle, while the mage integrates himself into the bigger triangle of the world. ”

He then asked, " Do you understand?"

Liszt nodded, "Triangles? Because it's the most stable structure.."In truth, he was confused about the idea of the small and bigger triangles.

Moving on, Glanny continued to talk about this triangle, just as Taoism considers the universe to be the interplay between five elements (i.e. metal, wood, water, fire and earth), and Buddhism's great elements are land, water, fire, and wind, the mages believe that the world is spiritual, material, and magical.

The concept was vast and filled with mystery, but at the same time boring.

Glanny was not an engaging teacher, even more boring than the concepts he was teaching. The whole afternoon they talked about the triangle theory and Liszt couldn't help but doze off several times.

Liszt couldn't stand it anymore and interrupted, "Mr. Glanny, I've understood the theory of triangles, and I can skip it. Now I want to know how magic is released, and why magic is divided into water, soil, thunder, ice and others. And I want to see real magic.”

Glanny frowned.

It was displeasing to have his long lecture interrupted.

However, he knew that Liszt's element was fire, so he raised his left hand, his fingers spread slightly, and quickly rubbed them together to form a fireball. Fireb.a.l.l.s were created out of thin air, from small flames to that the size of a fist. With a sharp push of the hand, the fireball flew out of the castle window and bursted mid-air not from them.

“Fireball, the lowest level of fire magic.”

“Do it again.” Liszt squinted his eyes to cast Magic Eyes. He had to observe carefully-he had to witness how the mage released magic. It was the condensed magic in the body that spewed out and naturally formed magic.

Glanny nodded.

He raised his hand and rubbed out another fireball.

This time, Liszt could see everything clearly. Glanny only had traces of magic inside his body. The magic aura inside him had no color, however the moment he released the fireball, the magic in his palm quickly turns red, which meant that fire magic was present. The air was filled with fire magic, all drawn together to the mage's palm, condensed into a ball and out come a fireball.

Whooos.h.!.+

The fireball blew apart outside the castle.

Using Magic Eyes, Liszt could see all these magic at work, but without it, it would've been impossible.

He  now knows the process of releasing magic.

However, it remains unclear why it can fuse into a fireball, for the Magic Eye cannot see what drives it to do so.

Perhaps, as Glanny says, it is the power of the spirit.

He thought maybe it was similar to that of a human body's process. One simply needed thoughts to commence movement. As for why the body follows what the mind wants, it was a little unclear.

At this time, Glanny was still casting magic.

“Meditation, it builds a bridge between magic and your spirit.” His voice was a bit erratic, his eyes stared at his palms, like his whole body fell into a certain state. “Magic is the third existence beyond material and spiritual. It has emotions, you can feel it, nurture it, and even use it for your own desires “

Moments later, a gray-brown substance emerged from the palm of his hand, which looked like magical clay.

The clay ball grew bigger and bigger, and Glanny could be heard saying, "Meditation is necessary to build the bridge. Only when you have a calm spirit can you grasp magic. It is everywhere! It cheers and moves around and when you find it, build a bond with it so you can experience it fully. Then, you can understand the world."

Finally, the clay ball expanded to a size of a fist, hardened and reformed to a rock with sharp edges.

Glanny continued to cast magic, he compressed and hardened the rock until it cracked.

His hand shook and the rock shattered completely.

But unlike the earlier  fireball, the broken rock did not disappear, it was still present in the form of debris. " This is the Flying Rock technique, a form of earth magic, a low-level one like the Fireball. I couldn't master Earth magic, and only focused on water, fire and wind. I have been slightly involved, but I have not mastered it for sure."

"How about thunder, ice, light and darkness ?"

"Those are four spells I have not studied yet, and therefore cannot cast it."

“But I've heard that mages can master and release every type of magic. “

“If I would venture closer to the truth and became a Great Mage, maybe I would have enough energy to study thunder, ice, light and darkness. But I'm too far from the truth now, and my spirit is not broad enough to master them all. It's hard enough.”

“What kind of existence does a mage have?”

  “I do not know.”

  “You do not know?”

Granny lifted his head, his hawk nose tilted up to the sky, " Great Mages are the world's walking embodiment of truth. It is the existence every mage must look up to. Baron Liszt, why would you think I know everything about Great Mages? How about you, do you even know what a Dragon Knight is like? "

Liszt could not answer, he has always thought that a Dragon Knight is just a knight on a dragon.

Above a Sky Knight's qi, is a Dragon Knight's, it's level must be that of a same level of a dragon's qi. But no one knows anything about a dragon's qi, Liszt does not know, and not even the great Sky Knight , Marquis Merlin has an idea.

All n.o.ble knights have dreamed of becoming Dragon Knights.

However, reaching the Dragon Knight level is an extremely hard state to reach – for even the n.o.ble with a dragon, the Grand Duke of the Sapphire Duchy does not know what it's like. The original Sapphire Grand Duke was a Dragon Knight, but now the Sapphire Grand Duke is just a dragon companion and breeder.

There was no chance of riding a dragon anytime soon.

“Well, let's change the subject, the magic rock, why didn't it disappear?” He asked a question that has long been in his mind.
