The door opened and a middle-aged man appeared before Aron. He looked at the Aron and said.

"I won't give you any food. SCRAM!" He chased him away with the move of the hand. The boy didn't give up and shouted.

"I am not here for food. I am looking for work. Could you let me work in your carpentry?"

He asked with confidence, the man was surprised this boy wasn't able to even look into someone eyes and now he is trying to persuade him to something.

"Let me think. You probably will be hindering my work more than helping me. Go somewhere else!" He said and closed the door.

"Whatever, I will go to next place. Someone will let me work.."

He walked from house to house and most people chased him away before he could say anything.

The entire village knew him and none wanted to have someone useless near their lifeline. After visiting almost all inhabitants, he was ready to give up but there was still one place to check. The farm on outskirts. It was quite an isolated place from the rest and its owner seemed like a weird person.

"Get out, I don't have anything for you." The hoa.r.s.e voice shouted from inside.

"I am not here for food. I am searching for work." Aron tried to prevent a situation that happened to him every time.

"Interesting. I actually need some hands on my fields and in my coop." The door opened and an old man with ragged appearance appeared before Aron.

"I will do anything!" Said desperately, Aron. The man scanned Aron with his eyes, he was quite disappointed.

"Ok, let it be. I am Roger. You will start by cleaning the coop, and we will see if you are useful in any kind of another area."

They entered the coop the hens and roosters were outside so it was empty.

Roger handed him a wooden bucket and spade and said.

"Start from cleaning their s.h.i.+t and move it to the pile next to fields. When you clean it, check nests if there are nests in bad state clean them up and go to the barn and take some hay to replace it." After this, he left.

Aron started cleaning and it wasn't easy to do. Chicken's p.o.o.p likes to dry and become hard to clean. The boy was weak, and he couldn't even move full bucket, so he was filling half of it every time. A few hours of work and his stomach started to growl but work wasn't in half-way.

"I need to finish it." He was determined, none would let him work if he couldn't do such a simple thing. A few buckets later the Roger came and invited him for a dinner. Before they entered the hut, he pointed at water well and said.

"Go clean yourself, are you pig?"

Aron cleaned himself, it's good that Roger prepared a bucket of water next to well because he wouldn't be able to get it himself.

The boy entered the hut and it was quite messy. It looked like none was cleaning this place for very long. Their meal was some simple soup from vegetables and black bread.

"Sit." Roger was already sitting next to the table and there was a prepared spot for Aron.

The youngster sat and didn't actually know what to do. He knew that most of the villagers believed in G.o.ds and normal tradition was to thank the G.o.ds for food before eating.

"I am sorry but do we thank G.o.ds for this food?" Aron asked with a concerned voice as he didn't know about tradition much. In his memories, the previous owner saw it through the window in one of the villager's houses.

"No. G.o.ds didn't do anything to get, this kind of treatment..." Roger uttered with little anger in his voice.

Aron didn't want to anger him more, so he stayed silent and ate. After he finished, he thanked for food and wanted to go to coop but Roger stopped him.

"This is all for today. Hens need to lay eggs. So come tomorrow if you want."

Aron came back to his hut and time was something around 4 PM. His body was dead tired, and he collapsed on his bed and fell asleep.

He woke up the next day before dawn, and he was very hungry. This time he decided that he won't go to Rose and went to Roger. He finally reached his house and the man was already awake.

"Good morning." Aron greeted him but Roger only uttered some words without real form.

"It's too early to clean the coop. Come later." He said and came back to his work.

"I can do anything." Although, his body muscles were still sore, and he was barely walking. He was determined to work.

"Ohhh. Okay, do you see these pile of rocks there?" He pointed at pile rocks in few meters away of the field.

"I plan to make expand this field and these rocks need to be moved from there." After this, he pointed big rock hundred meters away from the fields and came back to his work again.

Aron wasn't really efficient. He could move a few rocks in every course. It didn't stop him, around two hours later. Roger invited him for breakfast and they ate together.

"You are a weak kid but I see little potential in you. Keep this up and maybe you will become real man someday." He said and they began working again.
