Lu Xian Yu turned to Li Bingbing after hearing her apologize to Xia Sinian.

What was she apologizing for?

He released Lu Mengjie from his hug before he stood up, "Bibi."

Li Bingbing's tears were flowing uncontrollably and this made her children worried.

Xia Liqin tugged on her clothing, "Mama?"

"Why is mama crying?" Asked Lu Mengjie, she looked up at her.

Their mother's heart was throbbing in pain as she stood in between two men. The more she looked at Lu Xian Yu and Lu Mengjie, the more her heart was being torn.

Why? Why can't Lu Mengjie be Xia Sinian's daughter instead?

Xia Sinian turned to Lu Xian Yu and when he saw the way he looked, Lu Xian Yu understood that Xia Sinian wanted to be alone with Li Bingbing for a while.

Even if he wanted to be the one to comfort Li Bingbing, Lu Xian Yu knew that Li Bingbing would just end up pus.h.i.+ng him away.

He turned to the kids, "Say, Mengmeng, Qinqing, do you want to have ice cream with me?"

"But mama is..." Lu Mengjie trailed off.

"Your mother is fine, her eyes are just sweating." Lu Xian Yu tried to lighten the mood for the kids.

"Eyes can sweat?" The little girl asked innocently.

Xia Sinian chuckled lightly, "Yes, they can sweat a lot. Just look at your mother."

Xia Liqin took his handkerchief from his pocket before he reached it out to his mother. "Mama! Wipe! Shweat!"

Li Bingbing pursed her lips, she took a glance at Lu Xian Yu before she turned her gaze to her son. She bent down to accept the handkerchief he was offering, "Thank you, Qinqing."

"Well then, I will be treating you two some ice cream!"

"Daddy, I want strawberry ice cream!"

"Choco!"

After the trio left the room, Li Bingbing turned to Xia Sinian, "Why did you call him here? Why did you tell him that Mengmeng is his daughter?"

"Bingbing, he deserves to know the truth."

Li Bingbing pursed her lips. The only reason why she wanted to distance away from Lu Xian Yu was because of his annoying persistence. Why can't he just give up on her?

"Come here."

Li Bingbing stared at Xia Sinian for a while with her red and puffy eyes before she went and sat on his bed. She leaned and hugged him from the side, "Sisi."

"Be good, Bingbing." He whispered softly as he gently stroked her hair.

She buried her head at the crook of his neck without saying a thing.

"Our children need a father as they grow. You know that I wouldn't be able to be with them for long."

His words reminded her of his short days. She may have accepted the truth already but it was hard for her to let go of him. The agonizing pain she felt was so intolerable, she felt suffocated by it.

Li Bingbing looked upon her withered husband. He grew thinner with each day; looking as though he had all his meat gone from his body. His face had lost is healthy fair color fading to an ashy grey, looking as though dust had begun to gather on his rotting body. Xia Sinian had lost his youthful and handsome looks. He was clean-shaven and the hair from his head was gone. He was wearing a beanie to cover his bald head.

Li Bingbing was hurt when he looked at how he changed. She wished to remember the healthy man he had been; the gentle and caring man, the adoring and pa.s.sionate husband.

Xia Sinian reached out and gently touched her cheek, "Crying doesn't suit you, you know. It hurts me to see you like this."

She leaned and rested her head on his shoulder, she had been crying for days and it seemed that her tears were endless when she thought of him.

"I love you, Sinian, I love you so much."

"I know." He smiled softly, resting his head against hers. He closed his eyes after wrapping his arm around her.

"Daddy, are you going to attend Mengmeng's birthday?" Lu Mengjie asked as she paused from eating her ice cream.

"Of course, I will definitely come to your birthday." He wiped the cream from her lips. "What do you want for your birthday?"

"Puppy!" Exclaimed Lu Mengjie happily, her eyes sparkling.

His lips curled up, "I heard from Sinian that your mother doesn't want one."

His daughter frowned and pouted adorably at him, "But it's Mengmeng's birthday! Mama can't say no, right, Qinqing?"

Xia Liqin blinked a few times, he wasn't listening to their conversation since he was enjoying his ice cream a lot but as he did, he was making a mess.

"Ah! Qinqing is a messy eater!" Lu Mengjie quickly took her handkerchief out of her mini sling bag.

"Let me." Her father took it from her before he turned to Xia Liqin, he started wiping his face gently. "Both of you should meet your cousins one time."

"We have cousins! Mama showed us photos of Xiao Xing and Xiao Chun! Mello-gege is cute too! He looks a bit like daddy."

"Oh, so you have seen them..." He trailed off. "That's nice."

"Da! More ice cream?" Xia Liqin said after he finished his chocolate ice cream.

"Eh? More ice cream? Your mother will definitely scold me if I buy you another one, Qinqing. One per day is enough." Lu Xian Yu said before he wiped his lips and hands clean.

Lu Mengjie took the bottled water and handed it to her father, "Daddy is right, Qinqing. Mama said that too much ice cream in a day is bad."

Xia Liqin pouted cutely at what they said, "Ice creeeeam!"
