92 Town Of Monster Hunters 1

Enjoying high speed travel like it was her first time Lilly looked out through the top hatch of the closed AEHWP transport as she spotted a peculier mountain in the distance.

"What that? It looks like a dumpster…"

Training the sensors of the many drones around and above them on what Lilly saw from inside the toy box Lux was not that impressed with what she saw.

"That's because it is basically a dumpster… We can set up outside the wall."

The town of monster hunters, Eglax outpost #5, jewel of the monster hunters and collection of filth, the outpost carries many names. Build in an earth spire, an anomaly thought to have been made by an ancient dragon G.o.d, the spire resembles a mix between a giant rose and a torn made of pure rock stretching up several hundred meters in the middle of a desolate plain where nothing grows. By pure luck a single entrance had natural formed in the spire, and by an even greater stroke of luck a group of monster hunters had located that entrance, and returned to a civilized area with that information. And so the 5th Eglax outpost was established, the spires only entrance was fortified and turned into a choke point or so called 'killbox' against monsters, and a town was built inside the spire.

"Let's park over there, in the corner."

The monster killbox consisted of a long 550 meter ramp without any resemblance of cover flanked by rock faces on both sides leading up to the town's outer wall that had been constructed by transforming the extremely st.u.r.dy rock into a 20 meter tall rock wall further reinforced by strengthening magic. Driving the entire convoy of 15 different types of AEHWP's up the stone ramp created quite a ruckus initially, but after the guards realized that the strange machines carried people they calmed down, being quite used to see many strange things in the fertile wasteland of monsters. Thosing the left corner of the killbox right up next to the town wall where Zephyr immediately fell over and went to sleep after days of running, the convoy were quickly greeted by the local population after half an hour.

"Now this sure is some impressive machines."

"But sadly you're parking in our spot, so move it!"

"That or pay up! Hurry up and give us your money!"

"Yeah and hand those machines over to us too!"

3 fifty and unkempt hunters promptly showed themselves when they realized the strange vehicles occupants where all women, to promptly try and extort them for all they owned.

And why wouldn't they try? In total there were only 4 women, and two of them looked like children, with the black haired woman with red eyes looking like the only guard in her dark leather outfit, with the pale haired amber eyed woman that looked like some n.o.bel that had spent a ton of money to take some sort of sick guided tour.

"After handing over all your money you can spend your time with us, we'll take good care of you girls~"

Licking his lips the leader of the hunters walked over to the n.o.ble looking woman before extending his hand towards her chest as a dirty smile formed on his face.

"Touch me with that filthy and weak looking hand and I'll remove it from your body and reap your life. Terra?"

"They're just low ranking hunters that most likely lost their ability to return to the civilized world, no one cares if they die."

Looking at the hunter like he was a piece of filth the hunter flinched slightly before his fear and annoyance turned to anger.

"I'm trying to be nice to you, f.u.c.king n.o.ble brat! Just shut up and follow us and you won't be hu-"

"Seems like they are no worth keeping alive."

With a quick movement Lux disappeared from sight of the hunter, before reappearing right in front of him, having closed the range in an instant.

"Goodnight."

With a single strike to his tough looking leather chestpiece the hunter looked like he couldn't understand what had just happened, before falling to his knees and then falling over with blood rus.h.i.+ng out of his mouth and nose.

"Uwa!?- B-boss is dead!?"

"Run!"

Having the strongest amongst them instantly killed the 2 other hunters quickly came back to their senses and hurriedly retreated.

"And that's that.. Let's check out the town to see if we can secure any raw materials for resupplying."

With a carefree look on her face Lux turned to the other girls before suggesting their next cause of action

"You oxygen regulation is broken, are you listening Solaris?"

"Ehee~ You look funny Dax"

Inside a small room Dax looked at the arcangel called Solaris with strong disappointment in his eyes.

"Listen to me you stupid half pigeon, if you don't close your regulator you're going to die!"

Raising his voice in attempt to reach the drunk looking angel Dax looked more and more annoyed by the second.

"Ehh!? But I don't want to die~"

But to no apparent effect, she was too far gone and unable to realize she was about to die.

"... Haaaa, ICI call it."

[HYPOXIA TRAINING TERMINATED, VIP RATING: F-]

As the training was ending Dax fixed Solaris' oxygen regulator and waited for her to regain her sense of self.

"Come on Solaris get yourself together, you're looking really pathetic…."

Looking at the still partly hypoxic Dax decided to get her out of the alt.i.tude chamber and picked her up in a princess carry and exited the chamber. Outside the chamber was the large hall Dax had spent his last 4 weeks. Right in front of the constructed test chamber stood the CAS-A7 Stinger, and to the left of that was a whiteboard and a collection of chairs, walking past those the Stinger Dax found his bedroll and carefully placed down Solaris and sat down next to her as he started thinking.

(So symptoms are euphoria, blurred vision and dizziness… We can work with that. The only problem will be her own att.i.tude to this training.)

Dax had taken a personal request from Solaris to transport her with the CAS-A7 Stinger at extremely high alt.i.tude and in deep s.p.a.ce for long periods of time, and as such she need some training. Thinking back to the very first day of Solaris' education Dax's smile turned wry. Of course the several hundred year old angel was not initially open to receive education, but about 5 minutes into Dax explaining all the ways Solaris could and would die if she didn't receive that education, she quickly changed her att.i.tude. After that is was just a question of drilling information about atomic theory, biology, rocket science, simple radiobiology and practical first aid into the head of a fantasy creature that could solve all her issues with magic, needless to say Dax would have pulled all the hair out of his head if it was long enough to grab onto.

"Uuuuuu.."

As Solaris woke up she quickly flipped over on her stomach and curled up like an embarra.s.sed teen as her face flushed rose red.

"No you have nothing to be embarra.s.sed about, I do 'ehee~ look funny' when I'm trying to save your life, it's completely understandable."

"UUUuuuuu…. Don't be mean."

"No I'll be as mean as I want, I told you about the symptoms, I told you about the risks, but you said 'no I'll be fine, it's just pressing a few b.u.t.tons, I'll be fine'. Now what did we learn about this?"

Looking to Solaris for something he had repeated about a million times already, Solaris seemed to pick up on it and nervously answered.

"Always listen to your instructor?"

Showing a smile when he heard what he wanted to hear, Dax continued to inquire about what she remembered.

"And why is that?"

"Because they are trying to keep you alive."

"And if you don't listen to your instructor?"

"Then I am going to die."

"Good~ Then let's continue, if you are up for it."

Holding out a hand, Dax showed a warm smile that good Solaris out of her depressed mood as she took her hand with a determined smile.

"Yes! Let's do it!"
