154 Visit 2

After clearing out the more problematic elements of their own respective escorts, Dax and the crown princess of the central Kingdom finally started their talks.

"There have been raised concerns over your defence project, some of the n.o.bles were quite concerned after they were explained about it after they learned what a 'railgun' is, and asked why you would need 50 of them on our city walls."

Understanding that railguns Dax had proposed could be pointed inwards on the city of Kingstead instead of defending it, some of the n.o.bles had raised quite valid concerns.

"Yeah I get their concerns, but let me clearly state I wouldn't need even a single railgun to kill every single person in Kingstead if I needed."

"Yeah I understand that, believe me, but what do I tell the n.o.bles to get them to stop complaining?"

Having dealt with Dax a lot over the last half year or so, Teresa had come to be quite familiar with how the immortal orbital marine operated.

"Tell them I've found a colony of dragons nearby that might threaten the town in 5 years, and it would be nice to be able to still target them if they get into/above the city."

And Dax had come to understand how the n.o.bles worked too, the only real thing they cared about was themselves, which made them quite easy to handle.

"That could work, but I have to ask: Why do you really need those defences?"

"You don't want to know, trust me."

"... Okay then, I will try not to have that ominous premonition affect my sanity or sleeping schedule."

"Just trust me on this one."

"I will try too…. Then onto the next issue."

While Dax and Teresa went over their important business the two people that had been sent outside spend their time skulking, while still leering at each other of course.

"I guess that's the end of your career? So sad being a knight that p.i.s.sed off the only person they absolutely shouldn't."

"That goes for you too, granny."

"Yeah not really. Unlike you I am a commander, that means I worked my way to this position, not slept my way to it."

"... Take that back."

Haven taken serious offence to that remark Marie almost growled her response as mana started leaking from her body.

"Make me."

"f.u.c.king take that back!"

In response to Marie's genuine rage Lux remained extremely calm as she spoke out in an almost mocking manner as she slowly took off her jacket.

"No you don't understand, I want you to make me. Go ahead and try, it'll be the last thing you do before I rip you apart."

Understand where she was going Marie also regained a bit of her calm as she dropped her sword and slowly started getting out her armor.

"You're on! but don't regret this granny, this was your idea."

Making their way to the practice fields the bloodl.u.s.t emitted by both Marie and Lux worked to scare away any student population nearby.

"Don't worry I won't break anything too important. You're free to use magic, it won't change anything anyway."

"Oh don't worry granny, I won't need to put you in your place."

Separated by a distance of 10 meters the beastkin and human had both said what they needed to say, and so silence filled the area as they both took combat stances. Marie had left behind her adamant.i.te armor that was inscribed with countless runes which normally boosted her strength immensely, all she had was her fists, and she felt that was enough as she slowly inched closer with a bloodthirsty smile on her face. Lux had also abandoned her kali system out of a mix of respect and wanting to personally beat the s.h.i.+t out tigress in front of her, but unlike Marie Lux had padded her fists with some cloth, to reduce the damage she would cause.

"Well? What are you waiting for brat? Come and get it~"

With the invitation offered to her Marie pounced at the opportunity. Closing the 10 meter gap in an instant, Marie went for a low tackle moving just a few centimeters from the ground. Lux responded by sidestepping the attack, but didn't forgo offence as she exploited the gap in her opponents defences and went for a kick. The kick landed without issue square in Marie's side, but Lux had underestimated her opponents tenacity.

"Get down here!"

Twisting her body using the recoil of the kick she suffered, the beastkin grabbed her opponents knee and used her lower center of gravity to first fling her opponent into the air, then slam her to the ground. With her plan having worked out Marie instantly mounted Lux and started to pummel her as the orbital marine put up her best defences.

"Not so hot now are you!?"

Marie was fully confident she had her opponent as she continued to pummel Lux's arms, thinking it would only be a matter of time until she got through them, but suddenly she felt something hit her back which completely knocked the air out of her. Lux had used her extreme core strength to knee the beastkin in the back, creating a tiny opening, which was exactly what she needed. Abandoning her defences Lux got her hands under Marie's legs, then lifted as she flipped the mount.

"Pay attention, this is how you do it!"

"Lastly I have misplaced a viscount's son, would you know where he is?"

Having finished with the more important business Treasa switched over to more casual matters, taking a more relaxed manner.

"Andrew?"

"That's him yeah…. Did you kill him?"

Seeing Dax's face sour when she confirmed the name of the n.o.ble in question, the crown princesses mood also turned slightly grim. Even if the missing person was mostly useless, him being killed by Dax would be problematic.

"No I didn't, even though I really want to."

"Please explain."

Seeing there was more to Dax's dislike of the viscount's son than just his act at the academy, Teresa asked for an explanation. After she was told of what he had tried to pull along with a few monster hunters doing the expedition the crown princess was also of the opinion that he was no longer worth keeping alive.

"So in the end what happened to him?"

"No clue. Lux was the one that misplaced him somewhere, I haven't bothered to ask where."

Now having a full understanding of the current circ.u.mstances Teresa took a few seconds to gather her thoughts before speaking out once more.

"We need to find him. His problematic behavior here at the academy aside he has gone too far, I need to make an example out of him for going against you directly."

"That's fine, but as I said it was Lux that misplaced him, I have no clue where he is or if he's still breathing."

"I would love to hear where he is then."

With Teresa indicating she wanted to talk with Lux Dax focused on the surrounding environment to find her.

"You'll need to take that up with Lux then, she's out back at the practice field, currently beating the s.h.i.+t out of your escort."
