112 Rochdale Aftermatch 4

As the commentator announced the nights 'entertainment', the upper echelon of Deltas cheered before calming down to allow him to continue.

"Tonight's contestants have all been properly 'educated' and their hearts and minds are in this fight! Please look over the fighters and bet on your winner, good fortune."

(This is a ploy.)

Lux realized that fact immediately and looked towards Terra with slight panic.

(Don't you f.u.c.king move you hot blooded morron!)

But to her surprise Terra weren't acting up, she just sat in place with a perfect smile on her face while she silently digged her nails deep into her one hand. When that proved to not help her temper Terra excused herself by striking up a conversation with a n.o.ble that had problems with monsters in his domain, and returned to the main hall with him to discuss countermeasures.

"Do you not have gladiatorial matches where you're from miss Lux?"

"Or are you perhaps feeling unwell?"

Stepping right at the second of weakness count Storm showed a slight smile like he expected Lux to act up.

"Gladiatorial matches is it? Please don't disappoint me, it will be bad for your health."

This was not the response count Jonathan Storm had hoped for. When a new power suddenly made contact with them he taught it a great chance to increase his own standing, but instead of visiting them himself the so called representative of the 'galactic empire' had sent these women to meet him and the other leaders. Like they weren't worth his time he had responded to the kingdom of Deltas with the minimum amount of courtesy while pressuring the emerging war faction that Jonathan had secretly been supporting, and then he made these women show up at this party he himself had been organizing, what's more one of them even claimed to be his second in command! Having a female commander was unheard of, so he instantly decided to teach them a lesson. If the representatives behaved rudely or in any way inappropriate he could use that to unite the n.o.bles go to war, and if they made a scene he could demand compensation.

(What!? Disappoint? I've prepared the best fighters I own, there's no way I would disappoint. Besides how would this harlot even know how to judge a fight?)

"I'll be sure not to disappoint, we've prepared the best fighters there's available."

Showing a friendly smile count Storm hid his real intentions perfectly as he kept up the conversation flawlessly.

"What do you think Miss Lux? I'm sure you have seen plenty of fighters in your life, who here is you favorite?"

"That would be the one on the left, behind the big one with the scar across his face."

Giving an instant response Lux caught count Storm slightly off guard.

"I-Is that so? In my eyes there's nothing special about that brat."

"It's the eyes."

"Eyes?"

"Yeah, she has the eyes of a fighter, unlike the others that look like they have died already."

Of the 8 fighters Lux picked one of the two females, a short brown haired demi human that wielded a pair of short swords. Like Lux said she had a resolute look in her eyes and didn't even glance at the spectators above, she only looked ahead with firm resolution.

"Ah that one, that's because she's been promised she can return home if she wins this nights fighting, but in the end that's utterly hopeless."

Showing a slightly s.a.d.i.s.tic smile that he quickly hid being his hand count Storm gestured for the first fight to start. At this point Lux would like nothing more than starting a war, or just slaughtering everyone in the room (something she had already planned out down to the finest detail), but there were numerous problems with just doing that. The biggest problem with just starting to kill n.o.bles were that they might take offense to it and make their travels harder, not to talk about starting a war when Dax were making other preparations that couldn't be delayed more than they already had. While battling complex emotions the first 3 fights ended with only a single fatality with 2 other serious injuries performed by what could be basically described as battles between corpses as years of torture and forced substance abuse had taken a toll on the slaves.

"Time for the last fight of the evening. It's your favorite's turn now miss Lux, but what did you think of tonight's entertainment so far?"

With a somewhat smug smile on his face count Storm still expected Lux to act up in some way as he asked her about the fights she had just witnessed.

"There's really nothing to say about them, other than the so far poor and obvious attempts at match fixing there was nothing outstanding about them."

Showing a perfect smile that hid an extremely toxic tongue Lux showed a bit more of her true self as she accurately pointed everything count Storm tried to hide so far. As the halort had correctly pointed out all the imperfections that had been there so far in the entertainment Jonathan Storm had prepared he found it hard to outright criticize her, not that he needed to snoop so low.

(She will definitely act up in a moment, then we can use that to get the war we need, or just demand a ridiculous amount of compensation.)

While count Storm continued scheming the last fight came and went, ending like Lux had predicted it with the beastkin teen winning against her opponent without issue. After the fight the beastkin flicked off the remaining blood from her blades and walked out in the middle of the blood soaked arena where she looked at the spectators for the first time.

"I won, let me out now."

Remembering what she had been promised the teen spoke out in a resolute voice filled with determination the crowd of n.o.bles quieted down for a few seconds before they erupted in laughter.

"What? She wants to go home!? Hahaha!~ That's a good one!"

"Hahaha! Is the comedy part of tonight's entertainment?!"

"No one told her yet? That's so sad!"

While the ridicule continued all around the beastkin teen still looked at the crowd with determination, but everyone of the so called 'n.o.bles' she locked eyes with only started laughing louder, with the only exception being a humankin lady in some sort of strange black suit that only looked back at her with an empty expression void of any emotion. After the laughter eventually died down and the spectator stepped out on the blood soaked field, completely ignoring the contestant still remaining there.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for the final match of the night. On one side we have the most prominent up and coming fighter, a female caught to the south skilled in using dual short swords. She have been promised her freedom if she could defeat our champion and 20 other fighters, and she just won her 20th fight in a row!"

With the crowd of n.o.bles erupting in cheer while some shouted how much they had won or lost betting on her Lux's frown only grew larger.

(They're not even treating her as a living being! It's just entertainment in their eyes!)

Having come to a internal conclusion Lux reached up the chain of command while the commentator continued to introduce the last fight of the night.
