16 Chapter 16:

"Faye!" Claire slammed the door open making me drop the dirty dish in my hands and watching it shatter on the ground. I sent a dark glare in her direction as she hurried over to me with horrified eyes.

G.o.d d.a.m.n it.

That's the fourth dish this month.

"What's wrong? Did something happen?" I ask her, snapping my finger while the dish reconfigured and put the dirty dish in the sink.

It's such a waste of magic to reconfigure these dishes...

"I need your help. This young girl was in an accident and I can't heal her alone." Claire said, her large blue eyes pleading for my help as I nodded and untied the ap.r.o.n around my waist.

I guess being a housewife for a day can't ever happen with these stupid people being in accidents.

"Let's go then." I nod, changing into Xenon when grabbing her arm and teleporting us into the hospital room where the young girl was. I could feel her energy and soul slowly leaving her body before the parents and doctors look at the both of us in distraught.

I wasn't sure whether they were happy or upset to see me.

"Oh! It's Xenon!" The mother cried out in glee, rus.h.i.+ng up to me and grabbing ahold of me as tightly as she could. "Please... My daughter fell down the stairs and she can't even respond to the doctor! Xenon I'm begging you please help us!" The woman sobbed, her eyes as dark as the aurora around her while I smiled softly and patted her head.

"I will help you both. Let me look over her injuries alright." I ask in a comforting tone, brus.h.i.+ng past the doctor and closing my eyes. "Reperio quod est nocere," I whisper, a golden light coming from the girl and my hands as I felt her body and her wounds. "Claire, get ready for emergency healing. The girl is suffering from several internal lacerations and fractures." I inform Claire and the others, feeling several of her bones broken and some internal bleeding that her body won't be able to regenerate in time.

Even if the young girl was a wolf, her body won't heal as fast as a grown adult wolf s.h.i.+fter.

It was common knowledge and the doctor d.a.m.n well knew that I was the only way. Just like the other countless cases I've helped him with.

I'd like to think we grew this love-hate relations.h.i.+p with one another these past few years. Though he didn't really like the fact that I kinda stole some of his patients, it was out of my control.

If they were dying and requested my help, I'd gladly come and give any a.s.sistance I could.

"Please do anything you can to save our daughter." The father told me, holding onto his weeping wife while I nodded and glanced over at the doctor, who was holding a clipboard. He stared back at me with a blank look when I smirked and cracked my knuckles.

"Will do," I said in a confident tone before glancing over at the doctor and Claire. "I'm going to need gauzes, something to put her asleep to ease the pain, and a coffee," I order, clicking my tongue and warming up the room to help ease the pain already hurting the young girl. Filling her thoughts with warmth and comfort of things that she loved and cherished.

"You heard her. Go grab them." Claire chuckled, disappearing and reappearing with my coffee as the doctor rolled his eyes and left the room to grab what I needed. I sipped on the coffee before handing it back to her.

"Thanks. Stand back I'm going to summon a healing cast over the room. It should help calm the atmosphere so the parents won't worry too much. It should also improve her inner healing skills to help with the recovery." I told her as she mentally took note on how to handle a situation like this. "Et locus ad sanandum atmosphaera" Another bright gold light s.h.i.+ned in the room, the parents relaxing immediately.

"Here. I'm back." The doctor walked in, his dark eyes circling mine when a large smile rose on my face.

"Thank you, Doc. Should we start then?" I glanced at both Claire and the doctor, both of them unsure why I was smiling.

"Yeah. Let's start then." Claire nods proudly as I stepped in front of the bed and started barking orders and casting off some healing spells. I knew this was gonna take a while but I was not ready for how long it truly took.

My hands shook slightly while a beat of sweat dripped down from my forehead when Claire pulled away with a trembling body. She wasn't used to working so carefully to st.i.tch up an internal wound so I was pulling more of the weight.

The doctor stood back, watching the both of us as we used careful strands of light to switch the girl's insides.

"Almost done..." I mumble before a small green light s.h.i.+ned from beneath me making me stop for a second then continue on trying to ignore the presence that was slowly getting closer.

"I'll be back. Continue healing the young girl, Xenon." The doctor told me when I nodded and concentrated on my task. Claire snuck away with the doctor, probably for the same reason.

I pushed away all my incoming thoughts and pushed the healing process more trying to help smooth the pain over for the young girl. Her wounds were fairly healed but after my working on her for about three hours she'll need extensive rest since I needed a lot of her energy.

Good thing I ask for her parent's permission.

"Is she almost done...?" The mother asks me for the first time when I held onto the strand of light and wiped my forehead.

"Yeah... It's taking a lot more work then I expected but she'll be okay." I said without looking away and manipulated my fingers to finish the sowing process before closing the wound with a bit of the girl's own power.

I grabbed ahold of the gauze beside me and sat down on the bed to lift the girl up and lean her against my shoulder so I could wrap up her bruised ribs. Tying it off tight enough to not bother or make her too uncomfortable.

It would definitely be sore for a while but I'm sure she'll be awake once the drugs we put her on left her body.

"She will need a lot of bed rest. But she should be perfectly fine within a few weeks." I told her with a long sigh and glanced up at her with a tired smile. "She will be okay," I promise, tears welling up in the mother's eyes before she hugged me tightly.

Oh no.

Even after all these years, I don't like people touching me at all.

But... I'll make an exception.

Just this once.

"Thank you so much! I don't know what we would have done if you weren't here!" She sobs when I smiled softly and patted her back, the charm around my neck burning in pain.

"It's alright. I have to leave before your alpha comes in. Ask Claire to contact me if you have any questions or issues with the healing process." I bowed to the parents in curtesy before waving goodbye and disappearing.

Appearing in my bedroom, I fell on top of my bed and sighed. My face was pushed up against the pillows while I s.h.i.+fted to be laying on my back, the charm on my neck as dark as it usually is. The color that was there hurt my heart a little bit but I had to let go of him.

He has finally let me go and I was happy for him even though it still hurt me to never get the answers I still wanted.

But it didn't matter anymore.

He was getting married anyway and he was finally happy...

It's time for me to finally move on...
