10 Chapter 10:

Nava s.h.i.+fted into her wolf before attacking Dylan, forcing both of them out of the door that Faye had just opened. Zavier snarled at them both, holding Faye close to him as I hurried down the stairs.

What was Nava thinking?!

She was already in critical condition and now she's s.h.i.+fted?!

"Levi? Who was that attacking Dylan?" Faye questions me when I rushed past her, not bothering to stop and answer her.

"Nava! Stop it! You're only going to hurt yourself!" I yelled at her as she bit down on Dylan's arm. He growled at her, close to s.h.i.+fting as well.

"Brother. Do not s.h.i.+ft. Whatever you did to p.i.s.s her off, say sorry." Pairs, Dylan's sister, tell him from the perch in the trees while picking at her nails with a twig.

"I didn't f.u.c.king do anything! Only telling her the truth about her pathetic mate!" His words caused Nava to snarl and bite down on his thigh causing a shout in pain.

I thought over the spells I knew before holding my hand out to them. "Cessabit," I whisper, the winds around us blowing towards Nava and Dylan. Both of them seemed to calm down immediately as I thanked Archmage Seria for the handy spell.

"Nice one, kid." Pairs nod to me when I sighed and hurried to Nava's side. She was still panting hard and I could tell she was in a lot of pain but wouldn't admit it. Her eyes were still trained on Dylan's, daring him to do something.

"Hey. It's alright, Nava." I cooed, running my hand through her matted fur and forcing her to tear her eyes away from the other man. "You're alright. He won't hurt you. I will protect you okay? No need to keep me safe." I promise as Dylan chuckled humorlessly, the action making Nava snarl at him.

"I wouldn't laugh, brother. Levi is quite powerful even if he doesn't look the part." Pairs comments from above causing Dylan to shot a glare at his sister.

"Shut it, Pairs." He growls when I snapped for Nava's attention.

"Come on. Let's get you some clothes and something to eat. After that, I'll take you to High Priestess Dawn so you both can talk." I a.s.sure her, my words catching to her as she blinked back and nodded. she leaned into my hand unconsciously, her wolf in control and enjoying my touch.

A smile played on my lips, happy that she defended me so diligently and that her wolf adored me. I never thought of having a wolf as my mate, but I am truly loving Nava's wold side.

Or should I say her tame side?

I stood up, leaving my hand on her head since her wolf form was tall enough to reach my waist. Nava's wolf rubbed herself up against me, a small purr coming from her and making me laugh more to myself.

I had a feeling if she knew I was laughing at her, her wolf would be hurt.

"f.u.c.ker." Dylan murmurs to himself, Nava turning around and snarling darkly at him.

"It's okay, Nava." I patted her head again, drawing her attention back to me and brus.h.i.+ng herself against me. We walked over to the coven doors, noticing Faye and Zavier standing there with different expressions.

Zavier seemed grim at the sight of Nava while his mate was close to bursting with excitement. I wasn't sure which one I was truly ready for, but with Nava beside me. I knew I could get through both of them.

"She still hasn't gained control?" Zavier questions from above when I glanced up and saw him leaning against the banister on the second floor.

"No. She seems content." I told him as Nava's wolf messed with her paw as if it was a toy. It was the cutest thing I've ever seen.

"Well then. I'll be back later. Call me if anything out of the ordinary happens." He tells me, walking away once again. I sighed, glancing over as Nava's wolf form rolled over on the ground like a puppy.

He's checked on us four times ever since we came in and it was starting to get really annoying.

Nava wasn't doing anything wrong. She was just sitting there like a puppy and he is thinking she is the big bad beast.

It was growing irritating that he and practically everyone else thought the same thing.

I turned back to the skillet of vegetables and shook my head, adding the small pieces of chicken and adding seasonings. Nava's favorite meal I made for her before was my homemade fried rice with vegetables and chicken. Her face always lit up at the sight of the meal and made her smile every time.

If she'd let me, I'd make this for the rest of her life.

I glanced over at her as her ears perked up and looked over at me with an excited look. She slowly got off the blanket, I laid down earlier and sniffed at the air around me.

"I'm making you your favorite meal," I inform her, though I had a feeling she already knew that.

Nava nudged my arm and forced me to pet her head. I was happy to comply, stirring the roasting vegetables with one hand and my other on her. Her tail was wagging happily, the thumping on the ground louder than the frying of the food.

She was so lovely to watch.

It made me wonder if our children would be the same way as Nava in their wolf form if they had one. Would they be just as playful as Nava's wolf?

"Aww. She's so cute." I heard a woman say as I looked up and noticed Ajax's mate sitting on the arm of the couch, watching us.

"Yeah. She is." I agree when Nava leaned her head on my leg. "I'm sorry, but I never caught your name before. Mine is Levi." I introduce to her, not having any hands to offer her.

"I told you a while back, but you had other things to worry about. I am Alex." She introduces and laughing at the lack of hands.

"Yeah sorry. I'm kind of mult.i.tasking." I mumble, motioning at Nava and the food in front of me.

"It's quite alright." She a.s.sures me, glancing over the counter at my mate. "I've never seen her this way." Alex points out with a happy expression.

"How was she before coming here? In your pack I mean." I correct myself, changing hands so I could keep the chicken from burning and in order to please my wolf.

"Oh, she was very cold to others. Her wolf hated anything that moved to quickly and wouldn't hesitate killing anything. If it threatened her then it was as good as dead." Alex tells me and smiles at me. "Her wolf as never been this way until now. I think it's because of you, Levi." Alex admits to me when I smiled down at my mate.

This playful wolf couldn't be the same one that Alex is describing.

There's no way.

"How long have you known her?" I ask her when Alex leaned on the counter and thought back.

"Maybe three or four years? She was apart of another pack before ours and turned rogue. Though she never told us what pack it was and no one came looking for her, so we a.s.sume that she wasn't from any neighborhood pack." Alex informs me while Nava chewed onto my s.h.i.+rt, trying to get my attention once again.

"Do you think that her pack thinks she's dead?" I ask, thinking back to Nava's past and remembering that she was captured by a.s.sa.s.sins and that she escaped on her own.

Alex didn't answer me, thinking about it herself before looking at me impressed.

"I didn't even think of that. My Alpha tells me that Nava was taken by a.s.sa.s.sins and her family pa.s.sed away. But never specified if she was rescued or not." Alex notes as I looked down at Nava, making her stop tearing my s.h.i.+rt.

"I remember hearing that she escaped without any help. That she killed the a.s.sa.s.sins in pure anger." I told Alex when she nodded and stood up.

"I guess I have some packs to call. Thanks for the information. I may be able to find Nava's pack." Alex smiles but her words made Nava's eyes widen and shake her head as if she was getting in control again.

"Why don't we wait for her to decide if she wants to make contact with them or not? It's clear that she didn't want to return since she became rogue." I said quickly, turning off the stove and smoothing over Nava's tense muscles.

"Good idea. I'll wait then. I'm gonna head back to my mate. He's back from the pack house. Bye Levi." She waved off, walking away as her mate entered into the coven with a little girl squealing on his shoulders.

I ignored the new presences and knelt down to Nava who was growing more and more restless.

"Hey. It's okay. I'm here." I a.s.sure her, wrapping my arms around her as she s.h.i.+fted back and s.h.i.+vered against my hold.

"How long have I been a wolf?" She questions fearfully. "Did I hurt anyone? Where are we? Are you h-"

"You've only been a wolf for a few hours. And if you mean by biting Dylan, then yes. But you didn't hurt anyone else. We are in the kitchen and I just finished making you some food." I answer her questions, pulling my s.h.i.+rt over my head and handing it to her. "Take this." She took the s.h.i.+rt and pulled it over her head.

I stood up and grabbed the small bundle of clothes on the counter when handing it to her once she stood up. She was eyeing the food in the skillet, surprised at the sight.

"You make this?" She asks me while I nodded proudly.

"I make all your meals. You've only eaten mine ever since you've been here." I said as she held onto the bundle of clothes.

"I didn't know that..." She mumbles, her body tense making me swallow the tightness in my throat.

"That's alright. I never told you." I told her but she didn't seem troubled by that. "Hey. Your wolf didn't do anything bad. She was actually adorable." I a.s.sure her softly while running my hand on her arm.

"That's what I am afraid of," Nava confesses, her dark eyes growing more frightened by the second.
