The staircase was not long, but it wasn't short either, thus it was not hard for Jun Kai to catch up with her.

When they both arrived downstairs, they seemed to have arrived correspondingly together.

Grandma Feng and Xia Yun turned to each other with sparkling eyes. They seemed to enjoy seeing the pair together.

However, the other person who had been waiting for Mi Rong to arrive stood up from his chair.

"Mi Rong." His eyes were full of happiness, but it didn't last long. When he saw that another person was walking behind her, his eyes turned a shade colder. Nevertheless, it was quickly covered in a split second.

"Doctor Li! Long time no see." Mi Rong was happy to be able to meet an old friend.

Doctor Li or Li Zhen was the doctor from her old hospital where she and Xia Yun had come from. Ever since they left the hospital, they had never been in touch with the doctor for a very long time. Throughout the years, it had been Doctor Li that had helped Mi Rong with all the modern medical terms.

She was really grateful towards the doctor as he was another person who had helped her so much in this world.

Jun Kai's eyebrows slightly furrowed. He recalled seeing this person on the day he and Feng Min fought in the hospital. However, he never thought that this doctor would be this close to Mi Rong.

After a short greeting with Mi Rong, doctor Li turned to Jun Kai and warmingly greeted him, "Oh, mister Jun Kai, I never would have thought that I would be able to see you in person."

"Hm, nice to meet you. But...who are you?" Jun Kai didn't give the doctor any face.

Doctor Li gave out a dry laugh to cover up his irritation towards Jun Kai, "You can call me doctor Li or Li Zhen. I'm Mi Rong's friend."

When Li Zhen said the word friend, he seemed to have put in some emphasis on the word which made Jun Kai feel slightly annoyed.

However, it was the only two that had felt these particular emotions, the rest that had not felt anything odd from their greetings towards each other.

Maybe only a man could understand another.

When they all sat down, Mi Rong was curious as to why the doctor had arrived in Shang Hai.

"Doctor Li, did you have any business in Shang Hai?"

"Hm, some business to handle, but nothing much."

"Oh, how long are you staying here then?"

"For around three weeks maybe."

The two seemed to chat along closely, at times Xia Yun and grandma Feng would also join in with the conversation. However, the only person who did not seem to be in the mood to join was also the person who sitting coldly on the corner of the table.

There were no reactions coming from Jun Kai as he only sipped his tea away.

Although Jun Kai looked like he didn't care about their conversation, he was actually listening to it closely.

Even though Mi Rong seemed close to the doctor but it didn't look like she had any further feelings towards the other. The only one that seemed pa.s.sionate was most likely the doctor, such a clingy person.

A really irritating bug.

Nevertheless, Jun Kai did not say anything.

They looked like they were going to carry on chatting further when Qing Qing who was sleepily walking down the stairs with a teddy bear twice her size had requested for her Rong jie to read her a bedtime story. She came straight up to Mi Rong's side and sweetly looked up to her jie, "Rong jie can you read me a story please?"

Another white and fluffy ball came right beside Qing Qing and looked up at his master lovingly. If the outsiders saw Xiao Bai then they would've thought that he was such a cute being; however, only Mi Rong knew that he was doing it to tease her. He knew that she wouldn't reject if Qing Qing requested anything from her.

She gave a half despise look towards Xiao Bai who was acting with all his skills. Mi Rong couldn't help but tease, "Aiyoo, you're this old and you're still asking for attention from me? You should find a partner already; else it would be too late."

Talking about a partner, Xiao Bai's eyes turned sour. He did have one, but she was trapped and waiting until the curse is lifted also his big brother who was locked up in the ten chains of heaven.

Sigh, all because of that incident…..

When Mi Rong saw that she had seemed to have touched a soft spot of Xiao Bai, she immediately felt guilty.

Although she loved teasing him, she didn't like seeing him hurt. Mi Rong reached out her hand to pat his head. Xiao Bai felt her apologetic feelings from her and began enjoying her care.

Jun Kai who was looking as Mi Rong was patting her dog affectionately felt even moodier. She had been completely ignoring his presence this whole time. What a way to go…

The exchange between Mi Rong and Xiao Bai only happened briefly and Qing Qing was still sweetly waiting for Mi Rong's answer. Mi Rong then turned back to Qing Qing, "Of course! Which one should it be tonight, hm?"

"Hmm, maybe the story of the snow princess and her kingdom?"

"Oh, that one, sure! Grandma Feng, we'll be leaving first then. Doctor Li, it was nice seeing you again. :) See you, Xia Yun."

After everyone exchanged their goodbyes, Mi Rong held Qing Qing's hand and walked up the stairs together with Xiao Bai walking behind them.

Late at night

Mi Rong slowly opened Qing Qing's bedroom door and quietly came out from her room.

Qing Qing was sleeping soundly with Xiao Bai sleeping right next to her. She didn't have to worry about the pair any longer since there was Xiao Bai right beside Qing Qing. Mi Rong took a glance inside one more time and finally shut the door quietly.

As she was walking back to her room, she saw a black figure of a person standing beside her room. However, it was fairly dark; the lights were dimmed and everyone had long gone to bed, she couldn't make out who it was.

Only when she walked closer, did she find an ashen face from no one else other than young master Feng Jun Kai.

He was holding a pile of books in his hand. When Mi Rong looked closer, she found that the books were all the ones she had picked out from his bookshelves. It must have been quite heavy holding all of them, and she didn't know how long he had been here.

She was slightly surprised inside. Had he been waiting to give these books to her?

Mi Rong was only staring at the pile of books and did not look like she was about to say anything, so Jun Kai reluctantly opened his mouth, "Who was that doctor from earlier?"

Once Jun Kai spoke, Mi Rong came out from her daze, "Huh? You mean doctor Li?"

Jun Kai was quiet and only waited for Mi Rong to tell him who doctor Li was.

Mi Rong really hated the arrogance from Jun Kai and half-heartedly spoke, "Just a benefactor, nothing to do with you."

When he heard her answer, he was left speechless.

What else could he ask her? Jun Kai then strode back to his room, he didn't forget to pa.s.s the book to her hands and leave.

It looked like when a wife was mad at her husband for not understanding her, only this time it was the opposite and the husband was mad at his wife for not understanding him.

But who could Jun Kai blame Mi Rong for her indifference, she wasn't his wife...

As for Mi Rong, she was completely dumbfounded. She only stood there with a pile of books in her hands.

What was wrong now?
