"I understand sir. Um, are you going back home, sir? Shall I prepare the car for you?"

Jun Kai hesitated for a moment before turning down the offer, "No, not this time. I'll just go back to my condo first."

"Yes, sir."

When Lin Cheng looked like he was about to go and prepare the car like always, Jun Kai stopped him, "It's alright, I'll drive this time. Just send me the files."

"Oh, alright sir, I'll get on to it."

Jun Kai stopped Lin Cheng who was about to open the door for him, "You don't need to send me off today, I'll just leave from here." He then brushed off with a wave of his hands and left his office room.

Lin Cheng watched as his boss' back was going further away. Sigh, there had been many things on his boss' shoulder, if there could be just one person to help lift some of the burdens away would be great.

These days although he had not been home, he had been overlooking his family's well being and safety. However, he would always become distracted as he watched the other person. Luckily nothing bad had happened with his family and she had been taking care of his family better than he had thought.

Everything was going smoothly in his house, but he was still uncomfortable leaving it with someone new, especially her.

Jun Kai had just arrived at his flat.

He had brought this place only for conveniences with meetings that were held in the city, nothing more. Jun Kai decided to take a shower after all his work.

Once he was finished recharging himself, he turned on his laptop and began looking through his inbox and then at the doc.u.ments sent by Lin Cheng. As he was going through them, he thought of his meeting with his father.

Both he and his father were never on good terms.

They were drastically different but at the same time similar. The only things that they had in common were their stubbornness and cold indifference to the world. Maybe that might be why they never quite got along.

However, his dad was more brutal than him and his poor mother had been coping with it for years. His parents were never together because of love but a business connection. Well, it had been like that on the surface. It was the only thing that had been tying them together all these years.

Today, he had dinner with them. It was just a normal dinner as always. His dad only stayed to tell him about his mission with finding the leader of Xuan enterprise, but what made him quite confused when he began talking about his marriage.

It seemed like his father was trying to find another match for him. For his wife, he was lucky that she had a great background and they had been best friends since university. However, it looked like it was only the beginning process, his father did not look like he had found a match for him yet.

Sigh, he only wished to finish this mission and then take Qing Qing away from this kind of world and stay with grandma Feng.

At first, he was like those other rich boys, but only when he had met his wife, his temper changed. The world he used to play with changed.

The more he thought about the past the sadder it was, thus he had to refocus and begin going through with his plans. Jun Kai went through all the files until dawn, but could not take the tiredness any longer and fell asleep on his couch.

...

The sun rose and fell, but the man laying on the couch with a laptop beside and doc.u.ments on his lap showed no signs of waking up. Not long, a ringtone rang from his phone, his eyelashes fluttered as his eyes slowly opened. His deep black eyes came in sight and the dizziness slowly went away.

He got up and reached out to his smartphone on a small table.

---Qing Qing

His eyes finally became awake and picked up the phone. "Qing-er?"

"Papa, when are you going to come home. Rong jie has been taking care of me and great grandma all the time, she should get some rest by now. Quickly come, I'm starting to miss you."

"Oh." Jun Kai looked over to his watch and saw the time, it was already 6 pm, it would take around 2 hours just to reach home. Sigh, "Qing Qing, pa will come straight home, but it'll take another 2 hours. So, prepare yourself for bed and I'll come and read you a bedtime story. Okay, ma?"

"You promise?" Qing Qing's little voice spoke over the phone.

"Yes. You have my words."

"Alright, deal! I'll see you soon, pa."

"See you, honey."

After the call, Jun Kai quickly took a shower and put on a sweater and pants. Although it was just casual clothes, he made them look high fas.h.i.+oned and his muscularity was highlighted. He was taller than the standard height and could be compared to a model, with long legs and wide shoulders.

...

At grandma Feng's house

Grandma Feng was on the bridge with Mi Rong by her side. She was looking out in the pond and looked like she was thinking of something.

Most of the time, Mi Rong would see grandma Feng reminiscing the past. She would sometimes talk about the late grandpa Feng. Grandma Feng would tell her stories of her family and especially Jun Kai when he was a child. Jun Kai was raised up by both grandma and grandpa Feng and they were mostly attached together.

When Jun Kai was young he was a very sweet boy, just like any other kids. However, when he grew up, he was sent back to his father and mother and when he came back, he was never the same. He must have taken his father's side in too much.

Today, was just like any other days and grandma Feng had her walking stick in one hand to support her and began telling stories. They had already finished their dinner and Qing Qing had been doing her homework at the tea table behind them. Xiao Bai was also lazily laying under Qing Qing's feet.

All of a sudden, a strong wind blew pa.s.sed where Mi Rong and Grandma Feng were standing. Mi Rong was fine, but grandma Feng had felt slightly dizzy from the strong wind as she trembled and looked like she was about to faint. Mi Rong quickly ran towards her and supported grandma Feng.

"Grandma Feng, are you alright?"

"Cold, Mi Rong, I'm very cold."

"I'll take you to bed now, stay with me okay?"

"Hmm."

Mi Rong then took grandma Feng inside with Xiao Bai and Qing Qing trailing behind. All the maids quickly made way for their master. The housekeeper tried contacting a doctor to come and give a check up on grandma Feng.

Everyone was in a hurry and then the front door opened. When the workers saw who it was, they all showed a sign of relief. Mi Rong had her back to the door, so she did not see the newcomer.

As she was trying to take grandma Feng up the stairs another figure came to support grandma Feng's shoulder. He did not realize from his panic that his hands had also grabbed the other person's hands as well.

"Grandma, how are you feeling?"

Grandma Feng seemed to recognize the voice and slowly opened her eyes, "Hm? Jun Kai?"

"Yes, grandma."

Qing Qing who had just arrived finally saw her papa, "Papa!"
