"What....? Where.....am....I?"

"Ah! You finally woke up! You were laying in the backyard and you even caused a big mess around the place you collapsed. The gra.s.s and flowers are growing out of control"

"I'm sorry for the trouble I caused you. Where exactly are we located at?"

"We're near the Fire Burning City. We are a small town that gives tributes such as livestock and crops to the families in the city yearly in exchange for protection."

Jiang Chen sat right up on the bed and saw the blood on his mouth was dry.

"Thank you for helping me when I was wounded."

"It's no problem. My mom and I just saw that you were a bit wounded and I just patched you up a little. My name is Shu Ding. What's yours?"

"Jiang Chen."

"Now that you are all healed up, you can repay me."

Shu Lin innocently smiled at Jiang Chen. Jiang Chen started to feel guilty since he didn't have any money on him.

"Sorry, I don't have any money on me currently."

"No worries, you can repay me by doing some tasks."

Shu Lin guided Jiang Chen out of the room and into the living room.

"Dingding, has the injured person woken up yet?"

A woman in her mid-40s was in the kitchen was.h.i.+ng the dishes.

"Yes, Mom."

"Thank you for saving me."

"Don't worry about it."

Shu Ling jumped in front of Jiang Chen and said.

"Now, you can repay me by doing some of my ch.o.r.es."

"Dingding, are you trying to make him collapse again?!"

"Don't worry about it. madam."

Shu Ding led Jiang Chen out of the house and into a farm.

"Usually mom wants me to water all of these crops, but you can repay me if you water all of these. Then we will be even."

Jiang Chen looked at the ma.s.s amounts of crops from carrots to cabbage. He felt oddly reminiscent of an anime where the MC had to till the ground for training. Jiang Chen though to himself and made up his mind.

"When are we starting to water these?"

"You can start right now if you want to."

"Alright."

Jiang Chen circulated the Qi inside his body and directed at the water inside of the well. He pulled it out and waved his hand as if he was tossing something. The water followed the movement and right when they were about all of the crops, they exploded and showered onto the crops. The entire time, Shu Ding was dumbfounded.

"What did you just do? Are you a cultivator?"

Jiang Chen just smiled and nodded.

"Wow, that is so cool. My mom said one time that my dad was also a cultivator. He was able to break rocks with only his bare hands."

They walked back to the house as Shu Ding kept talking about cultivators and the moment they were about to walk through the door, they heard a loud shouting.

"You slow pigs, can't you f*cking give us more? The amount you give us every year is decreasing! By this rate, it cost more to let you guys stay here!"

"I'm sorry, Master Lan. I promise that next year will yield more."

Shu Ding looked over at the commotion and told Jiang Chen.

"That's one of the young masters of the Tai Family. He has been a jerk to us ever since he was given control over this part of the land and its production."

"Tai Family?"

Jiang Chen frowned and muttered under his breath.

"All that this family given me was one trouble after another."

Jiang Chen and Shu Ding walked over to the crowd.

"Now if next year, you don't give me enough of the resources, I'll pick out one of the women again and see if they like being....!"

Tai Lan looked at the crowd as he spoke and stopped when he saw Jiang Chen.

"What! Tai Yang, what are you doing here?!"

"I don't know who you are but you are bothering the people that just saved me."

Jiang Chen stepped forward and stopped right in front of Tai Lan.

"You think that you are so much better than me right? Being an adopted son of the family head! You can do anything about it since I have control over this land!"

"Look, I don't know who you are but I don't like arguing with somebody whose name means "too bad."

"You adopted sc.u.m! All you is mooch off of your adopted father isn't it?!"

Jiang Chen stared at Tai Lan and said.

"You must have horrible parents that name their child. They knew that you would be bad in life so they had to resort to naming you this. I would just go kill myself if I were you."

After that Tai Lan charged at Jiang Chen with his hands aiming for his head. Jiang Chen responded by kicking Tai Lan's stomach which sent him across the entire town. Jiang Chen looked down at his body and thought.

"Wow, I broke through into Body-Tempering Stage 4 when I was injured!"

After that incident, the servants all carried the Tai Lan away and the entire town started to avoid Jiang Chen. Many just walked off without another word and some just stood there and whispered to each other.

"What's happening? Shouldn't they be happy?"

"What is there to be happy about? You just angered the young master of the Tai Family. They can appear any moment now and wipe our town away. Don't worry though, they probably won't come before we pack everything and leave."

Shu Ding walked up to Jiang Chen and spoke. Just as she said that a thundering sound came from the main entrance of the town.
