Chapter 273 - Guilt

Chapter 273 - Guilt

Sei's gaze was locked onto the woman holding his son. It was suspicious for his son to embrace a stranger like this. He wouldn't even hug his own father so dearly but he was hugging her as though he never wanted to ever be separated from her?

At that moment, Sei's heart was starting to feel something strange. He couldn't see the girl's face. It was as if she was purposely trying to hide her face from him. Curious, Sei moved towards her to have a closer look. The woman was wearing a mask covering her lower face but looking at those eyes, those brows and all those facial and physical features, Sei couldn't help but freeze in place. His dying heart felt like it was struck by a thousand thunderbolts, resuscitating every nerve in his body that had been on the verge of death from the day she disappeared.

Without saying a word, he walked closer to her. The soldiers including Zaki thought that he will go and take his son from her, however, to everyone's surprise, the man suddenly raised his hand and removed her mask.

Everyone was shocked. But the one who was shocked the most was her. She tried her hardest not to look at him these entire moments but because of his sudden action the girl looked up at him in shock and the moment their gazes met, Sei's world, enveloped by glaciers for the past five years, started melting down.

The world seemed to halt in place.

His wife, his dearest wife was now in front of him and he could hardly believe it. Am I dreaming?

Ever since Davi disappeared that day, Sei had never stopped looking for her.

Zaki who was watching on the sidelines was also so shocked to the point that he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. They had searched for Davi, and were still searching for her to this day, but they couldn't find a single piece of information. It was as if she simply disappeared off the face of the earth. They even infiltrated every underground organization in existence to find her.

d.a.m.n. No wonder we couldn't find her anywhere. Who would have thought that this girl would actually enter the military, let alone the special forces? She had been so close to us all this time?!

Fate was indeed very unpredictable.

Zaki could only shake his head in disbelief. No one would have thought that what would bring them together again was none other than their own precious son.

After some moment, Zaki immediately spoke to the captain.

"It seems like the young master is reluctant to let go of your medical sergeant." He said and the captain nodded.

"Seems like it."

"I would like to ask you to let her accompany the boy. I promise to return her to your camp after this." Zaki said and after some negotiation, the captain finally spoke.

"Sergeant, you can accompany the boss and his son home. We will go back to the camp first." The captain said, startling the two.

Davi could only follow her captain's order and after a few moments, she entered the car with Little s.h.i.+n still embracing her.

Sei's gaze was locked onto her while Davi was gently caressing the boy's head as she felt him slowly dozing off.

If not for little s.h.i.+n, Sei would have yanked her into his arms by now. This entire time, Sei's fist were clenched so tight.

No one spoke for a long time and neither of them broke the silence.

The two were deep in their own thoughts. Davi was thinking about what she should do now. She longed for him so badly, she wanted to hug him as tight as she could but the moment she looked in his eyes, guilt clouded her heart. She remembered just how much suffering Sei went through for ten long years because of a sin he never committed and thinking about it, she felt that she didn't deserve to be with him. Her guilt haunted her day and night and it never ceased to break her heart, especially now when she saw those eyes of his looking at her with intense longing, without a hint of hatred. He was the one who suffered on her behalf and she definitely would have understood if he hated her for it. If not for the boy in her embrace, she wouldn't have agreed to follow them. All she wanted in this life was to let these two live in peace.

Due to their year long isolated and secret mission, Davi wasn't aware about the events that happened last year. She still didn't know that her father's name was already cleared and that Sei put all the blame on the Blackleaf. She didn't know that the case was solved and that there was no need for her to hide and worry anymore.

Little s.h.i.+n fell asleep in the car so Sei immediately led her towards little s.h.i.+n's room as soon as they entered the mansion.

Davi entered the room and finally put the boy down on his bed. There were still no words that were exchanged between the two of them. She looked at the sleeping child for a long while before she kissed his forehead. Her heart was breaking at the thought that she would be leaving him again, knowing she couldn't do a thing about it. She knew she couldn't stay by this angel's side and it hurt her so much all over again.

She then stepped out of the room with her hands clenched into tight fists and walked pa.s.sed Sei as though he was invisible.

However, before she could take another step away from him, Sei suddenly moved and grabbed her from behind, hugging her tight. Davi gasped as she bit her lip. She finally felt the warm embrace that she had been longing for for five long years. Her heart was beating wildly as Sei's hug tightened before he spoke.

"Now that I've finally found you, did you think I'd let you go again?"
