34 First Mission

When Chris went back inside the cla.s.sroom, everybody stared at him

"Here comes the special kid," Chloe said as she approached Chris.

Chris awkwardly laughed and went back to his seat. Chloe followed him and started to stand beside him.

"So how was your test?" Chloe asked.

"It wasn't bad," Chris said trying to quickly end the conversation.

"It wasn't bad?! That test was one of the hardest test I have ever taken! There wasn't as much Calculus as I thought there would be, but still..."

"Wait, not as much Calculus as you thought there would be... Wait, Chloe, did you get that one question with the old man pouring water in the pail for the math section?"

"Old man? What are you talking about?"

"For the science section, did you get that one history question about the birth date of Voltaire?"

"No, the question was about what he believed in,"

"Ok, then final question. For the english section, was there a pa.s.sage from Brave New World by Aldous Huxley?"

"Nope, I had Great Gatsby,"

"Alright," Chris said. He stood up and went around the room and asked 5 other people the same questions he asked Chloe.

...

'I had a different test from the rest. Even if she create different versions of the test, there's no way that 6 people all had the same tests. From the looks of it, my test seems to be harder as well. That sly fox!' Chris thought angrily.

After around an hour, Sarah entered the room holding a paper. Everybody including Chloe went back to her seat.

"Well, I have to say that the scores were in the predicted range! Most were average, but some were greater than I antic.i.p.ated. Only one person in the cla.s.s scored a 180 or above. I'll say the scores out loud in the cla.s.s from last names,"

Hearing this, everybody in the cla.s.sroom except for Chris held their breath. They all hoped that they were the one with the 180.

"Eddie Ang: 156/200"

A boy in the cla.s.s frowned.

"There's no way! I predicted my score to be around 175 or higher. There is no way that I got so many questions wrong!" the boy screamed.

"Eddie, I am 100% sure of your score," Sarah said calmly with a smile.

"You corrected so many tests in only an hour. The test also had short answer questions! There is no way that you corrected all the questions accurately!"

"Eddie, let me tell you once again that I have corrected every single test with accuracy. Let me tell you a question that you got wrong. In the history section, you put that Machiavelli talked about how Christianity was bad, but that is not the case. Machiavelli wrote The Prince and he advocated that a good ruler should be feared rather than loved if they cannot have both. I can talk about all 44 questions that you got wrong," Sarah once again said calmly.

Eddie quieted down.

"Now that Eddie has calmed down, next, Marie: 150/200,"

...

"Chloe: 179/200! The highest score so far! Congratulations!" Sarah said with a smile. "However, it is quite unfortunate that it's not a 180,"

"Come on Teach... Can't you give me 1 point?" Chloe asked with puppy eyes.

"Nope, the decision is final. There is no rounding up or anything. Or else, I'm going to be owing a lot of people favors," Sarah said.

"Stingy!" Chloe said while sticking her tongue out. The entire cla.s.s except for Chris laughed and Sarah moved on.

...

"Well Chris Kim, you did quite the good job. 181/200. You barely made it! However, a deal is a deal and like I promised, I'll owe you one favor as long as it isn't too much," Sarah said as she winked.

'Why is it him?! Why is it not me?!' Everybody in the cla.s.sroom thought at the same time.

Chris glared at Sarah to which Sarah ignored. After about another 5 minutes, she finished reading all the scores.

"Well, many of you did really good. No one went below 140 which made me extremely happy. Tomorrow, I'll give you your tests back so that you guys can review it. I will also write down all the right answers and for math, I will also put the method of how to solve it in the shortest amount of steps. That's all from me. You guys can relax for the rest of the day. Chris you have until tomorrow to tell me what you want," Sarah said as she sat down on her desk and took out her phone.

The room started to get noisy and only seconds later, Chris' reward came.

-Host has finished the Immediate Quest: Do well on the Test. Host has received 10 Intelligence Pills, 25,000 Hacker Points. Host now has 197,418 Hacker Points. Congratulations Host has leveled up to a Level 2 Hacker.-

-Congratulations, Host has finished a Journey Quest: Level up to Level 2. Other world transfer system has been unlocked.-

'Other world transfer! Finally I can go to other worlds. Oh man, I can see Saitama! I can kill Teemo with my own two hands,'

-Host, I'll explain the other world transfer system to you before you get too excited. The other world transfer system is obviously used to go to other worlds. In order to go to another world, Host has to obtain World Tickets. There are two types of World Tickets: Silver Tickets and Golden Tickets. Using a silver ticket would allow Host to spin a wheel and whatever Host gets is the world Host goes to. A golden ticket allows Host to choose any world of Host's choosing. Once Host goes to that world, Host has to finish the World Quest in order to come back to this world. A world quest is basically the final quest that the Host has to complete. To get the World tickets Host has to spend either Hacker Points or Lottery Tickets or Host can get it by landing it on the Hacker Lotto. For a Silver Ticket, Host has to spend either 50,000 Hacker Points or spend 2 Regular Lottery Tickets. For a Golden Ticket, Host has to spend 100,000 Hacker Points or 2 Golden Lottery Tickets. This is the basic information for the Other World Transfer System. Any further details will be said later on when Host utilizes the Other World Transfer System.-

'I knew this wasn't going to be as good as I thought,' Chris thought as he sighed. 'Getting one Golden Lottery Ticket is hard enough, spending 2 to choose a world is way too expensive. The missions that gave me Golden Lottery Tickets were fairly simple for now, but I know that it's going to be much more difficult in the future. I was going to try some of the Hacker Lotto today, but it looks like I'll have to refrain from doing so. Not to mention the Hacker Points. Even for the Silver Ticket, that's a fourth of my net worth. I'll have to save up more,'

Chris started to despair as he started to realize that the 200,000 Hacker Points that he thought was a lot was mere change compared to the amount he needs to fully make use of the System.
