4 Chapter 4 - Rabbit's Den

With his camouflage ability, he was literally at one with the forest at this moment. He remembered when he first left the pups, some tried to follow him but his ability immediately made him disappear into thin air.

After completing two full circulations around the pups, he stumbled upon a hole in the ground. This hole seemed extremely deep but he could sense numerous amounts of creatures lurking underground. With an evil grin, he sneaked inside the tunnel but just as he was entering it, he could feel a thin layer of air scan through his body, it was as if he just walked through some cobweb.

Once he entered, he was surprised to see that the tunnels inside the hole were actually quite big and were lit up by some glowing leaves. The tunnel began opening up more and more until he was forced to stop due to some sort of a dead end but in Zaro's experience a dead end was an opportunity.

Thus he stretched out his claws and attacked the wall which caused his paw to get stuck on the wood. When he drew his hand back the wall began collapsing on him and just in time he freed his paw and jumped away. The wall was like a drawbridge which revealed a s.p.a.cious room on the inside.

It was filled with spirited rabbits, some with gems and some without. They all jumped up alarmed when they saw their door being opened suddenly but because of Zaro's ability, he was fully hidden from them even though they were staring right at him!

He just discovered a rabbit hole filled with cores! Another evil and bloodthirsty grin appeared on his face once again. The only escape route was blocked by him and all that these rabbits could do was pray for a sliver of hope.

With this in mind, Zaro's smile widened, he slowly removed his camouflage and emitted an extremely large killing intent at the rabbits. This scene had easily caused a few rabbits to faint from fear while the stronger ones stared in horror and helplessness.

Zaro did his puppy growl and begun the ma.s.sacre.

Meanwhile, Koh and Kia were preparing to depart with the rest of the pups as they felt hungry once again. It must've been an hour since Zaro had left them and the two rabbits shared amongst a full pack of wolves was nothing more than a snack.

Remembering Zaro's words, the all huddled together and began scouting for some animal corpses left behind by him. Since he only completed two circulations, he had only found a small number of animals and they weren't that big in size.

An hour had pa.s.sed in the blink of an eye and they suddenly stumbled across an unveiled rabbit hole. Koh alerted the rest of the pack to stay behind while he continued inside to see if it was worth exploring.

He carefully continued downwards, the smell of death lingered inside the tunnels and eventually he reached the wooden wall. The stench of death continued and that's when he saw Zaro in the middle of it all with his eyes closed as he was sitting upright with a bright glow around his body, he was undergoing a transformation!

Noticing this, he chose not to disturb him and returned to the pack. While Zaro stayed behind and concentrated on refining the core essence that he had consumed especially with one of the rabbit's cores was a vibrant red color that glowed brighter than any other one, it was comparable to a ruby!

Since Zaro's core wasn't fully constructed, all of the essence had to be stored in his body. So, Zaro focused on expanding his core so that more essence could fit in it. Meanwhile, his fur and body were undergoing several changes!

Bit by bit strands of fur began changing color, similarly to the wolf he had seen before. However, unlike the other wolf, his entire body was changing rather than a few specks around his neck. This new fur seemed much tougher than the last one.

Zaro felt his muscles contract and become stronger all of a sudden and his senses seemed to get even stronger. However, the greatest change was that the essence from the core on his head was now merging with his heart and creating a core in his body!

It felt like it could store more essence than the one on his head! Without hesitation, Zaro tried channeling all of the essence into his heart so that he could construct a full core in his body. It was extremely difficult as this energy pulsated chaotically inside him causing some intense pain.

Zaro refused to give up and was determined to complete his transformation, after several hours, his fur had almost fully turned green and his claws grew even longer and sharper than before. His ears became pointier and his nose had grown a little more in length!

He was just about finis.h.i.+ng his transformation but he felt as if his core was far from completed? Rather than a protective sh.e.l.l covering his essence, instead it was a thin layer of purified essence holding everything inside within a sphere.

Finally, Zaro woke up only to find Koh and Kia staring at him in a different way at the entrance to the tunnel. The two pups had never looked so innocent before as they sat with their tongues dropping to the floor.

Zaro had grown in size too and he had a powerful aura around his body!

"Brother Zaro! What happened to you?!" Kia called out in astonishment.

Although he had his eyes closed, Zaro knew full well what transformations had undergone around him and inside of him.

"I received a very generous gift of nature and as a result, I have transformed into what seems like a different wolf race." He chuckled as he said this.

"Will we be able to transform too?!"

"Perhaps... you just need to learn how to hunt, I can't keep hunting for you guys forever... so I might as well teach you a thing or two about hunting. Wait a minute, how did you two find me in the first place?"

"Uhh, we followed your food trail and stumbled upon the rabbit hole, you've been here for the whole day! Night will fall soon and we came by to see if you were finished your transformation!"

Zaro was quite amazed that he was sitting in here for almost ten hours, after a brief moment he replied, "Well, I am now okay... just a little tired. I will remain here for the night and speak to you all tomorrow morning where I will give some pointers for hunting."

"Thank you, senior brother Zaro! We will be in the open s.p.a.ce!" The two wagged their tails and ran off excitedly while Zaro remained inside the hole and tried to understand the new core inside his body before eventually falling asleep for the rest of the night.
