5 Agent Cobb

"G.o.d d.a.m.n you smell Jay, what the f.u.c.k have you been eating, rotten eggs?"

Meet Agent Cobb, a famous Detective who specializes more in paranormal cases and investigations due to the fact that a lot of bizarre and enigmatic events have been taking place within the city. Also, accompanied by Cobb is Jay, his a.s.sistant. They've been working together since this new paranormal investigation branch was opened. The local public isn't aware of this division in the police force as it's considered to be rather useless, despite all the trash talk about his paranormal unit being hopeless, Cobb has managed to solve every remotely weird case he got. On top of that, he's Kigen's uncle.

Jay knew Cobb was worried as they had yet received another call about someone getting killed. Once the possibility of this being the work of a serial killer out of the picture, the officers in charge decided to put Cobb to work. This was the eighth so far, and being the best at what he does, without any leads or evidence from any of the previous murders, was basically set up to fail. Next stop was the forest; it was where the body was supposed to have been found.

"Isn't it nice, going inside a creepy a.s.s forest where countless mysterious disappearances have been reported, huh?" Cobb spoke out loud in an attempt to vent his frustrations.

"You're being awfully sarcastic today sir. Try to calm down, have a Blue-Cow." Jay replied so that he could calm Cobb down. Also, Blue-Cow was a drink Jay's family invented and sold throughout the country.

"Stop trying to sell me that p.i.s.s of a drink. Geez, I'd rather drink my own s.e.m.e.n instead of that c.r.a.p."

"Ouch… Words can hurt you know?"

"Shut the f.u.c.k up, we are arriving."

The path through the forest was a torturous one, as the dirt road wasn't clear, with b.u.mps and dips practically scattered all over the place. They somehow managed to arrive in one piece at their appointed rendezvous point which was in the middle of the forest. The instant they got out of the car, a heavy feeling of dread and melancholy was a heavy burden to experience.

The forest was dim and icy-cold, the occasional gust rattling the trees and leaves seemed as if it were the cries of someone who had witnessed a lot of dark occurrences, thus adding to the uneasy feeling.

"Don't p.i.s.s yourself just yet Jay; we don't have any spare trousers left after your misfortune with the lunch we had earlier," Cobb spoke in an attempt to get him and Jay back on track.

"You're such a charmer Agent."

Forensic was already on the scene, they had investigated most of the area surrounding the body which was identified as Janet Stringer, a young la.s.s who looked about fifteen years of age. Her body was in an awful condition, so bloodied that it almost looked like someone had poured a bucket of red paint on top. There were a lot of deep cuts all over her body as most of the clothes were torn off. Poor thing was probably raped and killed, however, alongside the cuts, there were also some fingers missing and dismembered body parts such as her right foot was found near a tree few meters away if you traced back the b.l.o.o.d.y trail.

It seemed like the poor girl had to crawl in a desperate attempt to get to safety which ultimately failed as she gave her last breath on the icy-cold ground inside the dimly lit forest. The biggest noticeable injury on her body was towards the neck area, it had been cut half-way across, it was probably the killing move, who could have survived that. Fortunately, the identification was made easier thanks to the student pa.s.s she had. Nonetheless, Cobb knew that the other murders were related to this case, the reason being, that her body bared a similar mark on her left palm.

So far, it was the only lead Cobb had gathered from reviewing all the past cases. By the look of things, it was obvious that there was nothing left to find from where the body was found. So, Cobb decided to walk further into the forest, it was the detective instinct which was kicking in.

Few steps into the already dense forest, he found another blood trail which mysteriously came to a halt. By pursuing the trail, he ended up discovering a lost cabin, which was old and unused as the forest had taken back its once lost property as it was further proven by the veins and overgrowing vegetations all over the roof and wooden wall making it one with nature. Following Cobb, Jay arrived and they both headed inside. There was a lot of damage on the inside which didn't reflect on the outside as it was probably manmade. The sign of a major fight was apparent here.

Claw marks, splashes of blood who looked as if were frozen in time while slowly dripping. Adding to that, under some debris an MP3 was recovered. After clearing every little inch in the shack, both agents set off to HQ.

Upon further a.n.a.lysis, the tech crew was able to recover all the data held which was mainly songs but amidst all that junk, the kid had left a sad parting gift, it was a recording which proved to have been a major turning point in the case.

The audio began to play, "This thing or person has been following us for some days now. I'm in a cabin, I think I'm safe, but why me? It first started with those three weird guys... I'm scared I think this thing might kill me." She trembled while speaking those last words.

"Bham!" The door broke open, she dropped the recorder, the steps came closer and closer, all the while, the mournful cries for help from a girl who had just begun to enjoy life could be heard. Then, it suddenly stopped.

"This is depressing stuff." Cobb thought to himself.

"So, she was followed by three guys and was then killed by some mysterious beast?" Cobb stated out loud in an act to verify his understanding.

"From what we have gathered, that's basically it," Jay confirmed.

"I'm telling you, this thing is paranormal, it's a f.u.c.king demon." Cobb continued the conversation.

"You need to cut out on Ghost Adventures," Jay replied, unimpressed.

"It has nothing to do with that although it's a good show." Cobb continued nonchalantly.

After receiving the postmortem report, there was a side note which read that the victim was s.e.xually abused but no evidence present to identify the culprit. It was sickening, a fifteen-year-old girl, raped and killed by G.o.d knows what, truly appalling. After making that remark, Cobb and Jay's investigation came to a halt as all the lead they had, hit a brick wall and went dead with no further murders being reported.
