5 Chapter 5

"Ding! The user has killed a bandit. +10 exp" The system did not stop there and continued with a second announcement "Ding! The user has obtained the ability 'Archery'." Aldarion was shocked, not only had he managed to kill an enemy, but he had also achieved the skill he had been practicing before with so much effort and had not achieved results.

With the euphoria generated by this good news, Aldarion prepared to continue firing. He picked up another arrow, pointed and fired. Not only did he hit a bandit again, but he realized that the action had been easier for him. "Is it because I acquired the skill?" Aldarion thought.

"Ding! The user has killed a bandit. +10 exp" Almost instantly after he killed another bandit, the system warning rang again. "Is there going to be a warning every time I kill an enemy? Can you configure the system so that it does not?" Aldarion asked the system. "The system can do it. Processing order. Configuring..."

After a few seconds the system said. "Finished configuration" Aldarion was glad that the system could be configured in this way, he did not want to have to listen to the announcement every time he killed someone, it would only distract him. This process lasted only a few seconds and after finis.h.i.+ng Aldarion continued firing.

When Aldarion wanted to give an account, he only had two arrows left and there were still ten bandits left. The guards were very tired and some were even injured. It had to be emphasized that the guards were a simple militia to maintain order in the city, they were not prepared for such a battle.

At that moment a rumble was heard. A very loud and robust bandit managed to break the siege, killing three guards in the process and began to scream, as if he were insane. Gersten reacted quickly and went to where that bandit was to stop him.

..........

"AAAaarggg!" Ronir roared. I was really p.i.s.sed off that what was supposed to be the easiest and most profitable job ended up being a great loss. They had almost been annihilated. When he was seeing the end of everything, together with all his strength and broke the siege, he even managed to kill some of the unfortunates who had killed his companions.

But this was not enough to calm his anger and when he finished screaming, he cleared his eyes and was going to continue killing the other guards, but just then a middle-aged man approached him and stopped him.

Even older, the one in front of Ronir seemed stronger than the rest of the weakguards guards so he put himself on guard and prepared to attack him.

When the middle-aged man positioned himself in front of Ronir, he observed the inert corpses of the three guards and then, furious, he shouted. "d.a.m.n you, Ronir! You will pay for all your misdeeds! As my name is Gersten I will stop you today!" Indeed, the man who stood before Ronir was Gersten, the Captain of the Guard.

After finis.h.i.+ng cursing Ronir, the Captain brandished his sword in an attack from above with all his strength. Ronir, who was much stronger than him, had no problem blocking the attack, but Gersten was not going to give up so easily and repeated the attack several times.

After Gersten's chain of attacks ended, he had begun to tire, showing a very agitated breathing. His chest swelled and deflated heavily and his posture had waned a bit.

Ronir, bored and seeing the status of his contender, decided to play a little with him. Ronir wanted to see the desperation on the man's face, so, in the last attack launched by Gersten, he dodged to the side as he came forward and stuck closer to it. When found at the right height, Ronir kneed Gersten in the stomach, leaving him breathless.

Gersten showed great willpower, endured the pain, grabbed his sword with the strength that was left and threw a gash at half height. But this only made Ronir snort and look at him with disdain. Ronir just had to raise his sword inverted and blocked the attack.

At the moment when the swords clashed, Gersten lost all strength in his arms and barely managed to keep the sword up. Ronir did not miss this detail and not only owed the sword, but made Gersten let go and throw it a couple of meters away from where they were.

When the sword fell, the metallic sound of it was heard throughout the area. Ronir gave a disdainful smile and hit Gersten on the head with the hilt of his back. The Captain, without strength and with intense pain from the blow, fell backwards to the ground and stared at Ronir with a lost look, feeling that he had failed.

"What's up old man? You were not going to kill me? What happened to all that you babbled before?" Ronir began to laugh, his voice high.

"It seems I've failed, maybe I should resign myself... I do not think my men can finish defending the city..." Gersten thought. But just at that moment he remembered a certain man who came just a day ago to help them and thought that, if it was him, he could turn the tables again. Then he recovered his look, smiled and looked at death defiantly.

Ronir, who did not know why he was smiling, stopped laughing, frowned and prepared to execute the man who had confronted him. I raise the sword and the moment the ba.s.s heard the whistle of an arrow.
