7 Chapter 7: Empty Night's

With nothing else to do but hunt for Goblin Tongues, I had decided to go back to the Goblin Cave to look for more Gob's.

There was no point in exploring any further I was still too weak to roam freely so I needed to get stronger and get better gear before I could go any further.

That's what you do in video games right? So it should be the same here I thought.

It would be a nightmare if I ran into another slime or laser beam shooting carnivorous unicorn or blue furry thing again.

At my current level I could only kill small animals like rabbits and other green skinned goblins.

I spent the whole day searching for a Gob to eat but it was no luck.

The day was uneventful I spent it alone killing rabbits and stomping on fish catching the occasional bug along the way t o chow down on.

I tried calling out to Chuck but he didn't reply so the day felt a lot longer than it should have, dragging out until it got dark.

Typical I didn't even get the chance to use Clyde since all I ran into were Rabbits and Fish the closer I got to the Goblin Cave.

I retired onto a tree and started again next morning…

On the sixth day I had to leave the river side now having gone a divergent path away from the Goblin Cave's direction I couldn't eat fish anymore.

So I used my Bug Catcher skill to eat a lot more bugs than usual.

Eating nothing but bugs and, rabbits left a bad taste in my mouth all day without anything to wash it off with.

Hunting rabbits took time and effort, bugs were too small to satisfy my hunger and without the river I became thirsty for water.

Drinking bug juice and rabbit blood wasn't a nice switch of pace for me.

It looks like today was shaping up to be another boring uneventful day until I saw a familiar face hiding in the trees.

Stopping in my tracks to just barely catch a glimpse of a light green goblin with short scruffy white hair wearing an eye catching blue fur outfit high on a tree branch.

She was crouching on a branch amongst the thick forest of trees I recognized her almost immediately it was that Crazy Goblin Girl!

The crazy b.i.t.c.h was spying on something I kept my distance and hid behind a tree obscured by the bushes.

I crouched down and got closer and closer until I saw what she was looking at.

A generic light green goblin holding a dead rabbit sitting down with its weapon by it's side preparing to eat it.

Instead of eating it whole like I did.

It was using a sharp small rock too slowly skin the pelt.

Given the size and accuracy of the rock's edge the skinning process would take a while.

The rabbit looked fresh it was just caught it was pretty obvious that the crazy goblin girl had been trailing the goblin for some time now.

I was wondering why she hadn't gone and attacked him yet when I remembered I still had her stone knife.

I pulled it out of my loin cloth the stone blade in question was rough but functional.

It had a leather wrap around its handle and it looks like it was made to fit her hand.

It doesn't look like she made it herself given how much time and effort it would have taken to make coupled in with the experience she should only be as old as I am.

Then again I did kinda murder everyone around me and set off into the wilderness at first opportunity so maybe I missed the intended lessons I was supposed to receive after maturing.

Going off that It was either given to her or she found it.

On the handle there were marking's etched onto the leather strap it looked like neat gibberish to me.

What looked like nonsense scribbles to Jack was actually Gia's name written on it, in there native goblin language.

I decided to wait and see what she would do after all, if I was lucky then I might be able to kill two goblins with one stone.

I made kissy face as I looked at Clyde and silently caressed the wooden surface of the board rubbing the smooth stone blades sticking out on the sides.

Jack:("Isn't that right Clyde ♥")

I shook my head and looked on with antic.i.p.ation biting my time waiting for one of the two goblins to make their move.

As I was waiting I couldn't help but think how I missed my favorite lucky bat Bonnie.

I had a dream that one day me and Bonnie would take the World Cup with a home run.

I dreamt about the cheering crowds and loud chanting of my name throughout the stadium and world.

I thought that I would grow up to be a super rich and famous celebrity world star baseball champion.

Then the whole world would have to recognize me and the magic of true love between a boy and his baseball bat.

Oh how I missed Bonnie...

Clyde was a good rebound bat but like anyone else I could never forget the experience of my first true love Bonnie.

Bonnie was my first time…

I blushed at the memory of hitting my first home run with her, or her perfectly smooth wooden surface and that thick girthy handle grip.

She had stolen my heart that day as me and my friends celebrated with a pizza party.

We drank soda and root beer the whole night after I won the game.

My mom even bought me a brand new video game to play with everyone in celebration.

A warm and honest smile swept across my face I had gotten so carried away with my reminiscing that I forgot about what I was doing here in the first place.

Jack: ("Ah good times…")

Instead of being the world champion baseball player I had always dreamed about being.

I was a murderous cannibal goblin hunting tongues because a magical blue screen told me to do it to learn a new language.

Not to mention Chuck my maybe real or maybe fake imaginary floating teddy bear friend that talks to me.

When I said it all out loud in my head I really did feel like some nut case off the streets.

Jack began to finally go over his recent actions in his head since coming to this new world.

It would be an understatement to say that he had simply developed violent tendencies and a volatile personality.

But in truth they only worsened when Jack became a goblin due to there evil nature as a species further warping Jack's mental stability.

Goblins were creatures said to originally be born of the malice and spite of humans created by some otherworldly being long ago.

No ones knows for sure or for what purpose these beings born in the twisted image of man had or served.

Even the name and existence of that otherworldly being who created them had now long been forgotten to the sands of time.

However Goblins exist in almost all parts of the world alongside humans and humanoid species.

When a goblin reproduces with a human or humanoid another goblin will be born taking on the traits of there human or humanoid parent.

Some born of a union between goblin and human or humanoid mutate into a Demi Goblin.

Unlike normal Goblins these mutant Demi Goblins have the potential to evolve into a Variant Demon lord and be born more gifted depending on the race and bloodline.

Demi Goblins are superior to Goblins however the mutation during the union is very rare and even fewer Demi Goblins have survived long enough to become a Variant Demon Lord or Goblin King.

Goblins are weak creatures by nature even among the fragile races like humans they are inferior.

Having only survived as a species simply because of their fast reproductive ability to reproduce in droves and large numbers.

There lives are a never ending battle for survival with the world around them Having lost their G.o.d and Creator there existence is without purpose or reason...

(*sigh) When did my life go to s.h.i.+t Jack sulked.

Bas.h.i.+ng skulls wasn't so hard in all honesty every time I killed a goblin or animal I just imagined my daddy's face over them to make it easier.

Chuck: "Wow talk about daddy issues."

Chuck was floating beside me speaking in a teasing tone I turned to face him ignoring his rude comment.

Jack:("Chuck! You came at the perfect time look")

I pointed at the crazy goblin girl crouching on top of a tree branch then at the Goblin getting ready to enjoy his meal.

The Goblin sitting down who had finally finished skinning the rabbit in what felt like hours to Jack who was Oblivious to me and the Crazy Goblin Girl was now ready to eat.

Chuck stared at the girl for an uncomfortably long time before turning his attention back to me.

Chuck:"Jack don't kill that one."

Jack: ("What Why!? You were totally on board with it before what's changed?")

Chuck laughed at my response and with a hand over its st.i.tched mouth he gestured at my crotch.

Chuck: "Isn't it about time you got over Bonnie and Clyde and found yourself a real girl tee-hee."

I stood up without thinking and angrily shouted back at him blus.h.i.+ng with embarra.s.sment, he had pushed a nerve in me.

Jack: "Giii Giii Giii!" / "I Eat p.o.o.p!.."

(Intended meaning: "It's Not like!..")

I stopped my sentence midway realizing my mistake Gia and the other goblin had jolted up into a defensive stance, startled and surprised by the sudden angry absurdity shouted.

Gia and the other goblin immediately turned their heads to look at me there attention was absolute and focused entirely on me wondering how long I had been there.

Jack: "Giii Giii." / "Eat p.o.o.p."

(intended meaning: "Aww s.h.i.+t.")

Chuck: "Whoops"

Gia had a surprised look on her face before turning back to the goblin with the skinned rabbit below.

She was deciding if now was the best time to strike at the goblin or if she should run as far as possible from that mustard colored Weirdo Goblin Jack to avoid conflict.

The look of worry soon turned into a serious face filled with determination.

She was going to get that rabbit one way or another driven by her hunger she decided to take action.

While the other goblin did not know how to react and looked at me in confusion.

Gia not wanting to waste this opportunity launched her entire body like an arrow towards the meal picking it up and s.n.a.t.c.hing the Oblivious Goblins weapon.

She made a mad dash into the bushes vanis.h.i.+ng amongst the trees.

The oblivious Goblin was left startled at the sudden loss of his weapon and meal.

He would have chased after Gia if not for Jack standing in front of him whose presence demanded his attention.

He stared at Jack a Yellow goblin wearing a matching blue loincloth and fur cape with a demon bear fang on the collar.

The mustard colored goblin had bright red eyes with a gnarled wicked black Mohawk on his head.

The bladed club in his hands had a demonic skull carving on the sides of the board that enticed fear and intimidated the Goblin.

Scared and fearful the oblivious goblin took one more look at Jacks frightening appearance then scrammed away to the opposite direction.

Although Chuck said it in a playful manner I still listened to him and decided to not kill that Crazy Goblin Girl for stabbing me in the foot and stealing my cooked fish anymore.

I was still mad at her about getting stabbed in the foot but it wasn't a big deal anymore my main focus was on that runaway goblin.

I sprinted towards the Gob's direction although the little rascal had created some distance between us.

With my stamina I just had to keep chasing it until the Goblin tired out.

Every now and then it looked back only to see me still chasing behind it.

The longer the pursuit the more tired and slower the runaway goblin became and the closer I was to catching it.

We ran and ran across the forest in circles the poor fool was only delaying the inevitable as it continued to struggle and push on.

The runaway Goblin was growing more and more nervous the closer I got it had no weapon and I was clearly the strongest of the two.

The runaway Goblin began to cry as it was coming to a stop it had pushed its legs and body to the maximum limit.

I had chased it around the Forest for close to an hour.

But with my stamina I still had plenty to go off of when it finally stumbled and crashed into the ground.

Left with no other choice the goblin began to cry and bow down on the floor.

It cried pleading in that incoherent goblin language over and over again I was starting to feel a little bad for the little guy.

Unlike the other goblins this one was thin and smaller than the rest of the goblin's it had soft eyes....

Those soft eyes that reminded me of my neighbors pet dog Harvey. It had gained my sympathy it felt like I was about to put down Old Yeller.

For the first time since I got here I had actually felt enough sympathy to not kill something immediately.

Unlike with the crazy goblin girl this goblin was of no use to me and it's only value was its tongue.

But regardless of its value I was still hesitating when I readied the killing blow.

My hand began to shake the longer I looked into its soft eye's until I heard Chucks voice echo in my head.

Chuck: "What are ya waiting for pal? Just do it."

Jack: ("I dunno Chuck. It kinda reminds me of Harvey.")

Chuck: "You mean that dog who talked to you when no one was looking?"

Jack:(" Yeah that's the one.")

Chuck: "Why don't you take another look pal doesn't he remind you of someone else?"

The begging Goblin was still pleading on I could really care less about what he was trying to say and focused on what Chuck had said instead.

I took a closer look at its face.

Jack:("Chuck What am I suppos….")

Those soft eyes that reminded me of Harvey morphed into the sick perverted eyes of my father.

The goblins ugly face started to slowly turn into my daddy's face.

My right eye twitched as a vein popped out of my forehead my thoughts began to fill up with memories of my time spent in that dark room.

Rage and hatred encompa.s.sed my entire body as I was driven into tantrum fueled by my madness and depravity.

I squeezed the handle of my weapon as my breathing grew heavy my pupil-less red eyes began to go blank as I rolled them over.

The goblin could hear the grinding of my teeth and backed away thinking it had offended me somehow, the goblin began to bow down and plead even harder now.

Slamming its head against the floor repeatedly pleading for forgiveness as it repeated the same word over and over again "i'm sorry."

(*BAM!)

Goblin: "GYAAAH!"

(*BAM!), (*BAM!), (*BAM!), (*BAM!), (*BAM!), (*BAM!), (*BAM!), (*BAM!), (*BAM!),

Jack was too overcome by his hatred and began to swing Clyde down on him.

he had killed the goblin with his first swing bas.h.i.+ng its head into a b.l.o.o.d.y paste against the ground as brain matter and blood oozed out everywhere splattering all over Jack.

With bits and pieces stuck to his bladed club Clyde.

But even when it had died Jack kept swinging and swinging until the whole body was an unrecognizable mess of pounded flesh.

Jack had destroyed the tongue in the process making the whole ordeal meaningless when he regained composure,

When Jack finally regained his senses it was already dark out.

He had been slamming his weapon down on its corpse for hours on end he was tired and sweating.

His treasured weapon Clyde had been dulled and soaked in a coating of Goblin blood and goo.

Jack had finally let go of his weapon and walked away from the minced pile of Goblin Meat and sat by a tree nearby before closing his eyes.

He hadn't even bothered climbing a tree or eating the Goblins minced corpse in hopes of salvaging the tongue the only reason he started this mess.

Jack was in a terrible mood and could only be reminded of his father not even Chuck could cheer him up or get him to listen.

Chuck had tried calling out to him but Jack ignored his voice and promptly went to sleep to try and forget everything.

For the first time since Jack had arrived to this world he had fallen asleep on an empty stomach....
