5 Chapter 5: Mustard Goblin

it was no longer a light shade of green but a vibrant yellow Mustard color.

My once scrawny green body had also gotten a bit of muscle ma.s.s nothing to write home about, but it was a welcomed surprise.

I had gone from skinny green midget to beefy mustard midget.

When I inspected my body I was sad that I hadn't grown any taller but my once bald head now had a wicked black Mohawk growing out.

Jack:("huh neat.")

I flicked the Mohawk tip, I guess this was that evolution thing.

I walked over to the crazy goblin to see that it was still sleeping soundly in its hole I activated my Blue Claws skill.

If I remember correctly I just needed to eat five more goblin tongues to be able to speak right.

I sat by her side weighing my options should I kill her and eat her tongue or should I just wait.

Not being able to speak or understand language was a very big problem if I was going to live amongst the other goblins but do I still need this thing?

I could kill it immediately with my Blue Claws skill but it was undeniably useful and I think it understands my inability to speak.

Given how it used sign and body movements to communicate with me instead of trying to speak.

it would be a waist to kill it now I should at least wait until I have a better understanding of these goblins .

When Gia had awoken the first thing she saw was the Blue light emanating around her.

She squinted her eyes very tightly pretending to be asleep while she peeked up at the now yellow weirdo goblin.

Her initial shock vanished as she saw his face in deep contemplation, she immediately understood her situation if that weirdo goblin chose to attack then she was done for.

Apart from her natural dig skill and high intelligence for a goblin, she was ordinary and mundane a typical greedy goblin but with grand ambitions.

Her odds of resisting or even fleeing from this weirdo goblin were low so with a cool head she reached to unsheathe her blade.

She had done so ever so lightly and stealthily while the mustard colored goblin was contemplating.

But just as Jack had finally made up his mind to let her live.

He deactivated his Blue Claws skill the moment Gia burst out from the hole and slashed at Jack leaving a large scar over his face.

Gia: "GYAH!"

Unprepared for the vicious strike he could only cover his wounded face and stumble back falling on his a.s.s.

Gia did not hesitate and with fluid motions ran over and thrusted her blade deep into Jack's foot stabbing through it, planting his foot firmly into the ground.

Jack: "Giii Giii Giii!" / "I Eat p.o.o.p!"

(intended meaning: "Get Off b.i.t.c.h!")

Jack screamed and kicked the goblin in the face knocking out a few of her teeth, forcing her off him before she could pull out the blade again.

Gia had not planned on killing Jack she was not confident enough to try and go all out.

She just needed to be sure that he would not be able to pursue her and that she would have time to create enough distance between them even if he tried.

Having accomplished her goal she ran away disappearing into the forest.

Jack slammed his fist on the ground as a vein popped on his forehead, he regretted not having killed her sooner.

Jack: "GIII!" / "p.o.o.p!"

(Intended meaning : "f.u.c.k!")

Yanking the knife out of his foot he placed it on the strap of his blue loincloth and limped away.

For some reason It felt like Chuck was calling out to me trying to guide me somewhere.

He didn't speak but I Just had this feeling so I followed my gut to where I think Chuck wanted me to be.

With every step my foot oozed out a b.l.o.o.d.y footprint I stopped by a tree with low hanging fruit no longer feeling Chuck's call.

The blue screen appeared before me.

Jack: ("Mustard?, Why isn't it Yellow Goblin?")

Chuck: "I thought it would be funny you don't like it?"

Chuck appeared hovering above my head with a playful tone as he picked out a fruit from the tree and dropped it on my lap.

The fruit was was a round spiked peach colored a pinkish purple.

It looked good but I wasn't gonna eat it on account of the spikes.

They may look harmless but anything with spikes on it was usually a sign for keep away or get f.u.c.ked.

What better example than the pufferfish or porcupine they look cute and harmless until they are provoked.

Jack: ("Chuck you ditched me!")

I picked up the fruit and threw it at Chuck, but it phased pa.s.sed him like a ghost.

Chuck: "It was just a prank bro."

Jack: ("Well change it back! My name is Jack! Not Mustard Goblin!")

Chuck: "No can do Jack from this day forth you shall be dubbed Mustard Goblin and I your humble servant Sir Chuck."

Chuck bowed his head and twisted his small teddy bear body into the kind a magician would make after performing a magic trick.

Chuck: "What are your first orders my golden colored liege."

I couldn't help but smile despite the pain and anger I felt towards Chuck for ditching me at such a crucial moment I couldn't stay mad at him.

Jack: *sigh ("Could you help me fix my foot it really hurts and it wont stop bleeding.")

Chuck floated up into the tree and dropped another piece of fruit on my lap.

And with a thick Sir Knight accent he spoke.

Chuck: "Try this Milord Mustard. It will surely aid you on your quest to slay that d.a.m.ned wench."

I giggled at his reply but gave him a skeptical look this fruit seemed suspicious but maybe I was still hung on on the whole spikes thing and was being too paranoid.

I gave Chuck a meaningful glance his b.u.t.ton eyes showed no emotion they reflected back no life Chuck wasn't like most people I couldn't read him or predict his actions or what he was going to say anymore.

My once imaginary friend who I knew everything about and would say or do anything I thought was like a completely different person to me.

He still talked and sounded like the Chuck I know and love but he was too different from the one I knew before the dark room.

I shuddered at the memories of that dark room and my daddy but I trusted Chuck more than anyone even myself.

So I ate the fruit in one go without hesitation and spat out a large red perfectly smooth sphere which I a.s.sumed was the fruits seed.

My body glowed with a pinkish light and my foot was healed not just my foot but my stretched arm too and the slash across my face.

I stood up and thanked Chuck before he flew into the fruit seed I spat out and disappeared into it.

Chuck: "Hold onto it Jack…"

I picked up the seed not questioning Chuck's weird request and carried on my way back to the river.

I wasn't going to question why he asked me to hold onto it, I just knew that I should if Chuck said to.

I wasn't going to bother chasing down that crazy goblin either but the next time I see it i'm definitely gonna make it pay.

When I found my way back to the river I traveled upstream continuing to explore the Forest.

The Forest felt endless and seamlessly stretched on for miles.

I stopped every now and then to get fish I wouldn't cook em just eat them raw so I could keep exploring.

I had spent the boring time walking around thinking about what had happened earlier.

Mainly on Chuck and his existence as a whole every now and then I would forget that Chuck was my imaginary friend.

I couldn't tell if Chuck was just inside of my head or if he was a real person.

I mean he knew about that blue death bear thing before I did and he guided me towards the fruit I think almost as if he knew it would heal me.

Chuck would inconveniently or conveniently appear and disappear often or would be aware of things he really shouldn't be not to mention he could physically give me fruit or hit me.

I shook these doubts out of my head Chuck was my friend and friends shouldn't doubt each other.

I walked until it was dusk feeling tired I climbed up a tree and fell asleep.

Ending Jack's third day of the initiation period...
