Xiang Ning piled the beasts in a corner and stabbed all of them with the Devourer. It ate without worry as it slowly absorbed all of the flesh and blood while Xiang Ning sat aside.

He tried contacting Gu Kun and the others, but there was no signal. He took out his map and got his bearings. Since he was in a basin, it was fairly easy to find where he was on the map.

He checked his map, did some quick calculations, and saw that he was just ten kilometers away from the mission site. With his speed, it should take him less than an hour to get there. He was worried about their current situation. He put away the map and waited for five minutes until he got the sense that the Devourer had finished eating, then put it back in the black metal box. 

“Wow. Looks like you ate a lot this time,” he chuckled. The more it ate, the stronger it became. This time it had consumed five tier six beasts, and two of them had beast cores! It had definitely grown a lot stronger.

Instead of keeping the black metal box in his dimensional ring, Xiang Ning decided to keep it on his back. The aura that emanated from it would be enough to deter most beasts. He needed to rush and had no time to fight all the beasts he met on the path.

Seeing that Xiang Ning had left, the vice-leader asked Lan Quan, “If you were to fight with the boy, what’re the odds of you winning?”

“Fifty-fifty.” Lan Quan didn’t hesitate before answering. He was finally taking Xiang Ning seriously. He hadn’t done so previously only because of Xiang Ning’s age.

“Yikes.” The vice leader held his breath. Lan Quan was someone that had crossed the galaxy to arrive here. Some of them even thought that it was overkill to send him with them. But based on the current situation, it looked like Azura’s perception of Earth was still stuck in the past. Regardless of whether it was the Limit Project of the Federation or the Seven Deadly Sin’s genetic engineering, countless strong cultivators had been born in just a year or two.

“Let’s go.” Lan Quan and the rest followed Xiang Ning. He had a hunch that they had already been detected, but somehow he felt excited. He was itching to talk to Xiang Ning!

Back at the mission site, the dimensional rift was growing larger. It was now more than ten meters in length. The strange beast was still lying by the lake, completely concentrating on the dimensional rift as the black mist shrouded the entire area. At its side was a small girl, dressed in rags. Two small horns protruded from her head and she was skinny. Still, she looked better than before.

The little girl patted the beast’s smooth body as it exhaled and the black mist surrounding the area turned lighter. Since the emergence of the little girl, the dimensional rift had vibrated more than thirty times, each time stronger than the last. It was as if something was trying to force itself through from the other side.

Not far from there, two groups of people were hiding in the undergrowth. None of them dared move forward. One of them was the Seven Deadly Sins, while the other group was Gu Kun and the rest. Luckily, both of them were far away from each other so they didn’t encounter each other. Gu Kun signaled to Yu Qian and she nodded, then took out an intricate metal box from her dimensional ring.

She carefully laid it on the ground and it grew legs. It was a small mechanical spider! The tiny spider adjusted its lenses as Yu Qian tapped her watch twice. The faint red lights of the spider’s eyes turned green as a coating covered and distorted the light around its body. It was a special coating capable of distorting light and effectively rendering it invisible.

Yu Qian whispered, “Go.”

On the other side, one of the cultists was holding up a sniper rifle and aiming at the special-type beast. Vulture instructed one of the cultists to move forward.

“Understood, Lord Vulture.” He silently transformed as small scales covered his body. His stature grew shorter as he shrank. Once he finished transforming, he was on all fours and flickered out an inhuman tongue. He was a mutant native to the rainforest of the southwestern side of the world. He was similar to a chameleon before the Great Disaster.

He unfurled his tongue and disappeared from view.

Three minutes passed before a roar of the special-type beast came from the front. The earth shook twice as Gu Kun and the rest dove to the ground. They were silently reviewing the footage.

In the video, they saw a giant, whale-like beast with two legs standing near the lake. It had two feather-like antennae on its head. But what was more interesting was that there was another humanoid by its side. A refugee? Or was it a little girl? How did she get here?

Just as they were trying to inspect the dimensional rift, the beast’s eyes suddenly turned and stared at the invisible mechanical spider. But it soon turned and looked in another direction. The spider panned its camera but saw nothing.

Then, in the next moment, the beast swung its giant tail and slapped one of the trees. Surprisingly, an explosion of blood and meat appeared before the tree fell and crushed the mechanical spider. The video abruptly cut off.

“What… what was that?” Long Xiaoqi nervously asked. When she saw the beast staring at the spider, all of them had felt suffocated; they were staring into the eyes of a Beast King.

“Wait, slow down the footage.” Gu Kun was observing the explosion of blood and flesh.

Yu Qian complied. She slowed the video down and saw a figure covered in green scales. They only saw its feet, while the rest of its body was obscured by its massive tail.

Gu Kun and Yu Qian both knew what it was. “Shit! It’s one of the transformed cultists!” They had already discovered that there wasn’t even a single living insect within five kilometers of the dimensional rift. That was why they were very sure that the beast they saw should be one of the cultists.

“To think that they’ve arrived! We’re lucky that we didn’t meet them.” Gu Kun shuddered.

The situation had turned for the worse. Not only did they have a Beast King on their hands, they even had the Seven Deadly Sins now.

“I wonder how Xiang Ning is doing.” Chu Long pressed his earpiece but there was no signal.
