Chapter 404 Xiang Ning, That Monster

The Devourer was happily consuming the Sawtooth’s flesh. However, it stopped eating after ten seconds. Xiang Ning tapped on it to see what was wrong. This spoiled brat. To think that it’s grumbling about not having a beast core to eat. It’s already a luxury to be able to eat such a beast, and it's complaining about it not having a beast core? Still, Xiang Ning felt that it was a shame that he couldn’t have the beast core.

If someone else were to hear that—especially those who needed beast cores for their research—they would have dragged Xiang Ning away and properly educated him.

After some time, Xiang Ning looked at the Devourer when it had stopped eating. To think that it was dissatisfied with its meal. It looked like its usual food was too delicious for it and it just wasn’t the same without a beast core.

Xiang Ning relented. He activated Disguise and ran into an alley after putting the Devourer away.

Not long after Xiang Ning disappeared, the mutant returned. It hadn’t found Xiang Ning anywhere in the building, even after tearing the place apart, and wanted to eat the beast’s corpse to replenish some of its stamina but it saw something was off with the remains. It didn’t think much about it before it tore open the beast’s hide and bit down on the bloody flesh.

What came next wasn’t the explosion of juices from the meat, but instead a hard knocking sound. It stared at the beast and saw that what it bit down on was just a thin slab of meat. It almost bit off its own tongue!

The mutant was confused. Through the hole where it bit through it could see the opposite side of the corpse.

It ran over to the other side and saw that a huge chunk of flesh had disappeared from the beast. There was so little meat left!

One second, two seconds, three seconds....

AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

When Xiang Ning heard the raging cry, he chuckled, as his plan had worked. Very few beasts remained in the path of Xiang Ning’s escape.

......

Everything that happened was seen clearly by another pair of eyes.

“Hoh. This is interesting. Send word to the higher-ups and request they run a background check on the guy.” Lan Quan was observing the footage recorded by the mechanical spiders as he spoke with his men.

“Interesting, but don’t you think that’s too much?”

Lan Quan shook his head. “No, just do as I say. Trust me. That young man is no easy target.” He didn’t want to explain too much. His teammates were strong, but they were too arrogant. They were underestimating the Federation. But what they didn’t know was that the Eight Pillars of the Federation were monstrous existences that even those on Azura had to be careful of. It was just that they hadn’t appeared for so long that no one was sure whether the old monsters were still alive or not.

He shook the thoughts out of his head and they continued their journey while reading some documents. Five minutes later, a single folder appeared in his interface. He opened it and read the information about Xiang Ning.

Name: Xiang Ning

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Birthplace: Marsh City, Earth

He quickly scanned through the information and found nothing special except his age. Seventeen? To think that a seventeen-year-old would have such incredible perception and reflexes! He could even slice through the bullets from a sniper rifle. And it looked like he was a dual cultivator too. The world was truly filled with geniuses.

“We’ll be able to leave the city once we cross the path in front of us.”

Lan Quan suddenly stopped as his pupils shrank in fear. He had read the remaining information about Xiang Ning at the bottom of the file.

“Lan Quan, what’s wrong?” The rest of them stopped as they looked at Lan Quan. Was there a trap ahead?

Lan Quan didn’t answer, just motionlessly stood there. He was still reading the file.

Main inventor of the dimensional ring.

Highly likely to be the disciple of one of the Twelve Prodigies on Earth.

Likely one of the candidates for the Smith Saint Project.

Made contact with Chen Tianhua, one of the Twelve Prodigies, and most likely one of the main researchers behind the ongoing research of dimensional technology, warp drive, and dimensional travel technology.

Possesses extreme talent. Slayed the special-type Octoviolet Silversnake, Balamu. Recent achievements include single-handedly slaying three tier six beasts.

No wonder his name was so familiar.

“To think that it was you!” Lan Quan mumbled. He looked at the information again and saw that it was filled with uncertainty. That was something he had yet to see, considering that their web of information was very robust.

If their organization were to know anything about this they would be knocked off their seats! To think that there was such a monster in this world. While Lan Quan wasn’t a researcher himself, he still knew the implications of such achievements.

He was from Azura, after all, so he knew quite a bit of the more advanced technology. Xiang Ning would be classified as a mobile tactical-grade weapon if they were to recruit him into their organization!

And now the person in question was within his sights. Should he just kidnap him? They had invented a mind control chip on Azura. What if they could use him?

He kept thinking, but his teammates were already worried.

Only after some time did Lan Quan walk out of his thoughts. “It’s nothing. Be careful, and don’t fight if we make contact with the people from the Federation.”

“Why? Is there a hidden monster in there?”

Lan Quan wanted to deny it, but the truth was in his hand. “Something like that.”

Seventeen years old. This was supposed to be the springtime of the youth of one’s life, but Xiang Ning already had those achievements. He was still young, but already so monstrous. What would happen if he had another ten, twenty, or even thirty years?

It was incomprehensible.

......

On the other side, Gu Kun and the rest had already crossed the city and were waiting on the tallest tree.

“I’ll be on guard, the rest of you take a rest.” Gu Kun was still calm and collected. They hadn’t run into many beasts on their way out, but they had almost been caught a few times. On the last leg of their journey out of the city, one of the beasts had caught their scent and chased them. They’d had no choice but to run and escape the surrounding beasts. Gu Kun and the rest were fine, but Long Xiaoqi was panting and disheveled from the run.

“Chu Long, when do you think Xiang Ning will come out?” Long Xiaoqi was panting. She looked worryingly toward the city center. While they were running, they had heard a large commotion, especially the collapsing building in the city center. They had all seen it coming down; it was impossible to not be concerned for Xiang Ning.
