5 The Plan

Three days later, w.a.n.g Ming had still not left his house, only eating noodles, but he was getting tired of it. He needed to make a plan on what to do. Cooking would be a lot easier if he had a wheelchair, so that would have to be a priority. But the number one priority, for now, would be survival.

After an afternoon of planning, w.a.n.g Ming came down to these points:

He needs to find a steady source of income, either by self-employment or by finding a job.

Find a new place to live, since this part of Fen Zhong City wasn't safe for him anymore since he had offended Brother Hou. Cost at least 1000 yuan a month.

Get enough money to buy or rent a wheelchair since it would make his everyday life much more comfortable. It cost around 350 yuan.

To get revenge on everyone that had hurt him. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Deciding the right thing for him to do now was to go to FanLang street, which was where his food-stand still was. And retrieve it, if he had his cart, then that would solve how he could earn money though he could not sell at FanLang street anymore. w.a.n.g Ming then wore a t-s.h.i.+rt and pants, since his legs were still injured he couldn't wear shorts.

Slowly he made his way towards the door, again walking with his old crutches. Closing and locking it and he was finally out of the house. It was a great feeling to be out of his house, but also peculiar since he couldn't walk on his feet and had to use his crutches to walk.

As w.a.n.g Ming made his way towards the FanLang street, he could feel people staring at him with eyes of both empathy and fear. Many individuals wanted to help him, but no one dared, because of the fear of implicating their family and business. They were people and no saints.

Usually, it usually took him 5 minutes from his house to his food-cart, but this time it took almost 25 minutes. He appreciated and missed having working legs. It was still 27 days left before his legs would heal. He hoped that those days would not be too hard on him. But he was ready to fight anything and everything even if he had no fighting skills or experience in it.

Finally arriving at the FanLang street, w.a.n.g Ming saw that the cart was lying on the ground. He moved towards it and saw lots of dent marks probably from steel bats. They also poured red paint all over it. He had hoped that at least he could scavenge and restore some of it, but the liquid had destroyed everything.

Feeling pain in his heart and sad when seeing the state of the cart since it was the first object he had ever made by himself except for food. He was proud when he made it since it was also a way for him to provide for his father. But seeing the state of the cart and his situation the only sensible thing he could do was to take it to the sc.r.a.ppers and sell it.

He wasn't sure the best way to get it there though, probably paying someone here to transport it to the sc.r.a.ppers as he was thinking about whom to ask since no one wanted to interact with him. He felt a hand on his shoulder scaring him, afraid and cautious of it. Maybe being one of Brother Hou's thugs, he curled his hand into a fist.

As he jumped around in 180 degrees, his eyes and body relaxed. It was only Sister Lin (From chapter 1). Releasing a breath, he didn't even know he was holding and relaxed his body.

"h.e.l.lo, w.a.n.g Ming what happened to your cart? Why are you hurt and do you need some help?" Bewilderment shrouded Lan Ling's mind when she saw w.a.n.g Ming's state and his food-cart. She still remembered it was fine when she walked by here yesterday. Though she hadn't seen him for over a month and missed his pork skewers, they had a great and unique tasting glaze on them. Who would hurt him? He didn't seem like a guy that would go around stirring up trouble.

"Thank you for being concerned with me, but it's a long story. Do you know anyone that would take this cart and deliver it to the sc.r.a.ppers for me? I can pay you and them 20% of what I get for it. I know it's not a lot, but It's the best I can offer." w.a.n.g Ming didn't want to ask Sister Lin at all since she was only a customer of his and nothing more. But it was his best option right now. Since no one here wanted to talk with him.

"That shouldn't be a problem. I know some guards at my company. They should be able to help you. I will call them now. But you need not give them any money. They earn a lot every month." Said as she smiled at w.a.n.g Ming and walked away. Lan Ling didn't know w.a.n.g Ming anymore than being his customer but seeing him in a state like that. She felt that she had to help him. There was just a small favor, anyway.

Feeling thankful and relieved, w.a.n.g Ming shouted to Lan Ling's departing back, "I will never forget this favor, Sister Lin. If I ever open up for business again, you and your friends can eat for free for the rest of your lives!" w.a.n.g Ming didn't know that he would fulfill his promise real soon.

After Sister Lin walked away, w.a.n.g Ming sighed and leaned his back towards the cart that was still lying on the ground. He was nervous that Brother Hou's thugs would see him since they usually strolled around FanLang street and hara.s.sed people. But he had to wait for the people that Sister Lin mentioned.

Hearing people gasping and pointing at something, w.a.n.g Ming also felt curious and looked at the direction they were pointing their fingers. He saw three mean-looking men, two in the back and one walking in front. They all had a bloodthirsty aura around them, the two men that were walking behind were both bold and wore black suits with black sungla.s.ses.

The man in the front was different though he had medium length hair that he tucked to the side. A scar that went over his eye and he also wore a suit and gla.s.ses, but they looked like they were of higher quality. He also had some grey streaks in his hair and seemed to be around 40 years old.

The men then walked and stopped right in front of w.a.n.g Ming, seeing the men stopping right in front of him, w.a.n.g Ming grew nervous but didn't want to back down. So he stood up on both of his crutches and puffed his chest up, which was more prominent than before and was ready to hit them with his crutches if they had any harmful intentions. There was no way for him to run away, so he had to face them.

The man with the scar then coughed politely and raised his hand up for a handshake, "Are you by any chance, w.a.n.g Ming?" Feeling a little more at ease but still cautious w.a.n.g Ming replied "Yes, who are you? Are you Brother Hou's men? And sorry I can't shake your hand I have to hold the crutches.

The man with the scar looked confused and even disgusted after he heard what w.a.n.g Ming's words. "No, Sister Lin sent us, why would we work for a small-time gangster? My name is Huang Peng, and the two behind me are A'Hu and A'Feng," Shocked at Huang Peng's word w.a.n.g Ming wondered who these guys were? Brother Hou, a small-time gangster? There weren't many people that could say those kinds of words in this city. "Yes, I'm w.a.n.g Ming. I thought Sister Lin said she would send some guards from her company to help me? Where do you guys even work?"

"If she hasn't told you. It's not my place to do, get to work A'Hu, A'Feng." Then the two men started to carry the food cart. It was around 100 kg and made of stainless steel and iron, but the two men took it as it was nothing. A'Hu and A'Feng went out first and walked to the sc.r.a.pper, while Huang Peng and w.a.n.g Ming took the car. But as w.a.n.g Ming opened the door to the car, he heard shouting and three thugs running towards him. "w.a.n.g Ming, you dare to come back here? Are you tired of living? Kneel and let us take you to Brother Hou."

Hearing their words, w.a.n.g Ming knew that he had to fight here. If they took him to Brother Hou, then he was guaranteed to lose his life. w.a.n.g Ming then took a glance towards Huang Peng, but he didn't seem to care about what was happening, and the look in his eyes said your problems you solve it yourself.

The thugs then walked towards w.a.n.g Ming and went into their fighting stances. All the thugs in these areas usually all knew the same fighting style. Which was having both hands in front of the face, one arm higher the other lower, protecting the face and head. They were in front of w.a.n.g Ming and surrounded him. They all hit his upper body, but w.a.n.g Ming didn't react too much at their hits on his upper body. So they all had a sinister plan and kicked w.a.n.g Ming's legs.

When they started to hit w.a.n.g Ming, he felt the impact of their punches, and it hurt. But it wasn't too bad, so he wanted to challenge his limit and see how much he could tolerate. But was horrified and enraged when he saw them targeting his legs. The first kick hit his legs, and he felt a stinging and burning pain in his legs which made him grit his teeth and feeling anger coursing through his veins. He took his crutch and smashed it right in the thug's neck closest to him. The crutch broke in 2 pieces the piece that broke off hit the other thug right in the b.a.l.l.s, so in one hit two thugs fell.

It terrified the last thug when he looked at both of his friends lying on the floor. Last time w.a.n.g Ming was a coward and just laid down and took a beating. But this time he looked like a maniac while waving his crutch around. So the thug just ran away shouting that he would report this to Brother Hou.

When w.a.n.g Ming saw that the last thug had run away, he felt that the adrenaline and all of his pent up anger and stress left his body. His arms started to feel like jelly. So he just sat straight down on the ground. He only had one crutch now, so he had to use the front of Huang Peng's car for sitting down.

Using a minute to calm down, w.a.n.g Ming then remembered that he was supposed to ride the car to the sc.r.a.pper together with Huang Peng. Hurriedly standing up, he looked at Huang Peng, and just saw him standing there smoking and patiently waiting for him. Feeling a little guilty for wasting Huang Peng's time, he said. "Sorry, for stalling, I have a bit of a problem with the thugs around here."

"No problem, I'm just doing my job, search them for money it's basically your spoils of war." Thinking about it, w.a.n.g Ming thought it made sense, and he had an urgent need for money too. He walked with his one crutch towards them and slowly lowered himself to the ground. Then he started searching their bodies. They had nothing on them except for cigarettes, lighter, around 200 yuan and a cheap-looking watch. Since he didn't have a watch or phone to there was no way for him to know the time, he just took the watch and strapped it on his wrist.

Feeling satisfied, he walked back to the car, opened the door and sat in it. They then started to drive towards the sc.r.a.pper which was roughly 10 minutes away with a vehicle. There were lots of questions he had about Huang Peng and Sister Lin, but he knew that even if he asked he wouldn't answer. So w.a.n.g Ming just used the time in the car, to think about the next step. Should he buy another food cart? Maybe buy an oven and sell on the side roads? But he had to set the thought aside when he saw that they had arrived.

Arriving at the sc.r.a.pper, he saw his food cart lying on the floor in front of the shop. He saw A'Hu and A'Feng again. It didn't seem that they were tired or even sweat at all. The owner of the sc.r.a.p shop saw that a high-cla.s.s car had arrived. So he ran out of the shop to greet them, as fast as he could afraid of offending them. "h.e.l.lo and welcome to my shop do you guys want to buy metal or sell?" Even though he knew that most likely they wanted to sell the food-cart but to be polite, he still asked.

w.a.n.g Ming felt puzzled about the polite att.i.tude of the owner of the shop but, though it was definitely because of the three mean-looking men and the car. "I want to sell the food-cart. How much can I get for it?" Feeling even more puzzled than w.a.n.g Ming was the shop owner when he saw that it was w.a.n.g Ming that talked with him and not the man with the scar. He couldn't help but think that w.a.n.g Ming was the Mens boss.

He then played it safe and give w.a.n.g Ming the best price that he could. In case of w.a.n.g Ming being a big shot "Ok, just let me get someone to take it inside and weight it. The cart is entirely 304 solid stainless steel, which should be around 3,8 yuan per pound but, no need to worry I will give you the best price I can. Two men then came out of the shop and took the food-cart inside to weigh it. They came back 2 minutes later and told w.a.n.g Ming and the shop owner that the food cart was 242 pounds which would have made out to be 920 yuan, but the shop owner directly gave w.a.n.g Ming 1000 yuan.

Satisfied with the price, w.a.n.g Ming took the money and thanked the shop owner and the guys before walking away. Huang Peng saw that his job was done and took A'Hu and A'Feng back to the company with the car. Now with 1300 yuan w.a.n.g Ming headed to the market.
