The giant doors suddenly lit up after they opened up completely. Followed by this the opening of the doors turned pure black, while emitting an intangible form of qi that slowly filled their surroundings.

"W-what is this!?"

Wide eyed, Sofie stared at the black ma.s.s that formed inside the opening of all three doors. The slight qi that emitted out from the three big doors made Sofie feel supressed to an almost unbearable degree.

"It's s.p.a.ce qi… One of the most mysterious forms of qi and also one of the hardest to train in, even our sect only has a few cultivation manuals for s.p.a.ce qi up till the meridian opening realm. Any further than that and we have nothing…"

Yang Meng said as he was completely immersed in the strange fluctuations on the black door entrance.

"Why is there so much s.p.a.ce qi gathering at the entrance of the doors?"

Yue Wan questioned Yang Meng with narrowed eyes.

"The s.p.a.ce qi has gathered together at the entrance of the three doors and are forming a portal out of here with the entrance of the three doors as the centre of a portal, each door leading to a different place. From what I can see the portals will take some time to fully form. Until then, all we can do is wait…"

Finished explaining, Yang Meng sat down on the ground under the both suspicious and doubting eyes of Yue Wan, while Sofie on the other hand had gained some sort of blind faith when it came to things Yang Meng said. Especially if it was something, she knew nothing about beforehand.

This resulted in Sofie standing beside the sitting Yang Meng, just staring at the giant doors in amazement as they slowly grew darker and darker with the pa.s.sage of time, while Yue Wan positioned herself behind Sofie. Cautiously watching Yang Meng's every move.

"By the way… Didn't you say that the rank 2 demon beasts would be able to activate the door and exit as well? I can't really see demon beasts pa.s.sing the same trail we did…"

Interrupting the silence that had formed as they waited for the doors to finish gathering enough s.p.a.ce qi, Yue Wan asked Yang Meng in a confused voice as she really could not imagine a demon beast walking up the altar before sitting down, cultivating and then pa.s.s the trail.

"Well… If they could really pa.s.s the trail, it would not be a problem as the doors could just recharge s.p.a.ce qi after we pa.s.sed the trail after they leave.

The problem is… Compared to the altars, which are heaven grade tools. The doors are not even mortal grade, they are only used as an object to form the portal. This also means they are not as tough as heaven grade tools, so a rank 2 demon beast should be able to destroy it."

Reading both their minds, Yang Meng answered in a low voice as he looked at the giant doors. Not really understanding why they were built in such a material in the first place. Maybe it was better for gathering s.p.a.ce qi?

"Were the ones who made the doors dumb?"

Sofie stated in a confused voice as she stared at the darkly glowing centre of the doors, she really had no idea why someone would make a pair of giant doors out of demon beast food.

Why did they do it? M-maybe they made it as an emergency food for their demon beast pets…? Or maybe they ate it themselves…

Not really believing her last thought, Sofie stared at the stone that made up the three giant doors. No matter how hungry she felt at the moment, Sofie could not imagine herself eating rocks… And even after thinking it over, Sofie still felt that whoever decide to make giant doors out of demon beast food was dumb…

"Hah… Maybe they were…"

Heaving a large sigh, Yang Meng answered Sofie's question with a slight frown appearing at the corner of his lips.

Even if the stones were good for gathering or faster at gathering s.p.a.ce qi, it would still be food to demon beasts…

Just thinking over it, Yang Meng felt what Sofie said might be right.

"ROAR!"

A loud roar echoed through the surroundings as a giant crystal spiders leg pierced into the side of another demon beast.

The demon beast who had let out the loud roar was an enormous black wolf with white patterns all over its fur.

The crystal spider ignored the angry roar of the wolf and used another two legs to block the incoming paw from the wolf.

*Crack*

A cracking sound could be heard throughout the area as one of the crystal spider legs shattered to pieces, with the other one close to cracking apart at any moment under the soft looking paw of the wolf.

The crystal spider had no time to wonder how such a fluffy and soft looking paw became a deadly weapon, used an available leg and pierced through the wolfs head.

"Roaaaaaar-"

All that could be heard was one last roar coming out of the wolfs large mouth before it shut close for eternity.

The smell of the thief is growing closer…

Walking up the mountain, the crystal spider got more and more excited as it could smell that the thief was almost just in front of it… But that was when it happened, a giant tentacle covered in eyes suddenly came out of the ground. Shocking the crystal spider silly.

The tentacle wiggled from side to side as the eyes focused on the crystal spider, who was frozen.

What the…

The crystal spider had no idea what to do as it saw more and more tentacle slowly coming out of the ground.

Nope…!

Thinking about that simple word. The crystal spider turned around and decided to find another way up the mountain, it was definitely not going to fight some giant tentacle monster anytime soon…

"How long is this going to take! I'm hungry! I want to go to the dining hall! I want to eat the spirit fruit promised in the mission reward!"

Complaining loudly, Sofie looked angrily towards the three doors slowly absorbing the surrounding s.p.a.ce qi.

I thought that it would just take some time to gather and absorb the surrounding s.p.a.ce qi to form a portal, but this… No wonder the ones who built it used stones demon beasts used as food and to improve their strength.

All of a sudden, Sofie felt the ones who built the three giant doors was not so dumb anymore… Even she would most likely have made a door out of food if she didn't have to wait so long and it wasn't even human food, but demon beast food! So, no food(human) was lost…
