I start to get out of bed but decide against it when I see how peaceful the girls are sleeping. Even Victor is slightly snoring away at the foot of the bed. I decide to look at my stats to pa.s.s the time.

After upgrading my nervous system I took a break from upgrading my systems, just in case some weird mutation like my poison happens again. With the start of the game happening tomorrow we don't need any surprises. That just let's me create more tier 1 defaults to trade on the forum. Now that I think about let's check out to see if there is any good trades happening, being so close to the game start people might put up better items. Either way it will pa.s.s some time while the girls sleep.

After browsing and not really finding anything that interested me I feel some movement, closing the forum screen I see Jessica start to move. Usually Jasmine wakes up first so I'm a little surprised, oh and now Jasmine is starting to wake. They really are in sync, it's kinda cute the way they flutter their eyes open to get used to the light.

As I was admiring how cute they looked Frost woke up as well and started to rub her head against my chin to get my attention. With a grin I started to rub the top of her head, after I stopped she seemed to have a proud look and gave a taunting smile towards the girls. Jasmine saw this and grinned as she started to brush her hand across my waist slowly with just the tips of her nails, this caused a reaction from my little brother. Seeing what her sister was up to Jessica joined the fun and started to nibble on my ear, slowly starting out morning battle. Eventually Frost wound up on the dresser again with a pout on her face as she watched the girls steal my attention away from behind her tail.

Everyone agreed that today will be to relax because our work starts tonight. The main plan is really quite straightforward, team 1 will go around searching for small gnoll groups to exterminate and team 2 will do the same for the goblins. We will mostly be firing from the vehicles doing hit and run tactics until we can finish off the group, if they receive reinforcements from another group we take off.

Some say it is just a simple plan but that makes it adaptable and that's just what we need. So for now I will enjoy the company of the twins while everyone else relaxes in their own ways.

(POV: Erik)

"Checkmate buddy, you lose again."

"Ya, ya. I believe I'm still in the lead overall though."

"Only in your head Max."

I laugh as I set my side of the chessboard backup, me and Max have played hundreds if not thousands of matches against each other. Been a while since we could relax long enough to play a game.

"You know I enjoy this as much as you but we still need to talk about your brother right."

"There is nothing to talk about, if it was before the world went to c.r.a.p then maybe we would talk some more. Now it doesn't matter anymore."

"I saw the look on his face when he came out of that store, we have seen people like him before, killed people like him before because of the danger they can be."

"Good, I'm glad he is dangerous. Now he has a chance for survival. You, me, the others, who doesn't have blood on their hands."

"I don't care about how b.l.o.o.d.y his hands get, I care about how much he enjoyed putting blood on them. You and Brandon both have the same condition, when you get into it no one can stop you, BUT YOU DON'T ENJOY IT HALF AS MUCH AS HE DOES!"

"Keep your voice down. Listen to me Max, we are brothers from the day we meet, better than friends, closer than most families. Just don't try to separate my other family."

"What happens if he can't control it and turns on us? What happens if it comes down to him or Brandon, him or me."

"It won't and if it does I promise to put him down, just like I have done before when one of our pack goes too far."

"I hope you don't have to, I love him like a brother too Erik. There was just something about him after you gave him a taste, I could sense his whole body begging for more."

"But he held himself in check. No more Max, this conversation is done. Get some rest we have a long night ahead of us."

"I will watch him tonight and we will talk more tomorrow. You won't get out of this conversation so easily Erik."

As I walked out of the room I could hear him sigh but didn't look back, I know Max won't let this go but for now it's fine. We really do have a long night ahead of us.

"Erik."

"Oh, Shara how are you doing. Are you and your sister settling in ok?"

A blush come over her face and she shyly looked down, she really does look cute. I know she has feelings for me but I don't know if they are real or fake, just an image she has from me saving her. Either way right now isn't a good time to get distracted.

"Yes, everything is great. Clara is doing much better now, thanks to the changes in her body she's healing quite fast."

I smile knowing that she is still worried from the look she gets when talking about her sister. The bond of family, it is a powerful thing.

"Are you ok Erik?"

"Sorry, must have s.p.a.ced out. Still kinda tired from the meeting last night."

"I'm sorry you should rest. Just don't overwork yourself ok? Its It's not good for you."

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Night Shara."

"Rest well."

Going into my room I lay down on my bed and look over to the far corner. Shadow turned it into his personal web room. Won't lie it was creepy at first but I've grown used to it. You can see him spinning out webs constantly practicing, with the evolution he's been getting bigger and stronger, not to mention more intelligent. He can even play chess with me now.

Sigh, this world really is crazy but that's fine. As long as I protect my family it doesn't matter what else happens. Don't worry mom and dad, I promised to watch over them and I will. No matter what happens family first.

(POV: Hunter)

I got out of bed around one and hit the gym for a bit, talked to some of the squad members to get to know them a little better. It was a peaceful day but once six came around it was time to start getting ready. Everyone grabbed their gear and doubled checked everything. The Armored Buses were loaded with ammunition and medical supplies. The Twins were busy for hours triple checking their work, I helped when I could but most of what they explained sounded like a made up language. In the end we were all ready by eleven.

I looked around my group and checked how they were doing. They looked calm but I could tell Derek and jacklyn couldn't wait for some action. Meanwhile I was getting a weird vibe from Max even though he keep smiling. I hugged Jessica and told her to be careful as we went to different vehicles.

Amazingly I wasn't afraid or nervous. No it wasn't dread or anything like that. I felt antic.i.p.ation, excitement, I couldn't wait to begin. I watched the clock in the system's page slowly count down to the true ending of our old world. When It finally hit midnight the game began and my blood began to boil.
