264 Failed To Keep To His Word

"Hahaha! So what if he comes back? Do you think he can defeat me?" Alex laughed sarcastically.

"You're just a bunch of silly recruits! You still can't see the strength gap between us?"

"Haha! Even if he comes back, he will only lose miserably!"

The Death Combat Unit was so arrogant, they did not even take Steve seriously. During this period, they had been provoking the recruits, challenging them and taking away a lot of their contribution points.

Although this batch of recruits was indeed much stronger than those of the previous batches, there was still a huge gap between them and the veterans. As such, even the best of the recruits were defeated by them.

As for Steve, although he was rumored to be very strong and had even defeated Lawrence, whose basic cell value was 380 points, the Death Combat Unit was not a regular first line combat unit.

As such, Lawrence was only a member of the second team, which was the reserve team. Therefore, there was a huge gap between the regular combat unit and the reserve team.

Even the most average member of the Death Combat Unit had a basic cell value of more than 400 points. Although their number was small, in terms of strength, one person was enough to sweep away Lawrence's entire reserve team!

"Who said that I would lose?" Steve's calm voice suddenly sounded from behind them all.

Alex was shocked to find Steve standing behind them. The others were also shocked by Steve's sudden appearance.

"Steve, when did you get back?" Alex asked in surprise.

"Honey, you're back at last!" When Lucy saw Steve, she flew over to him and threw herself into his arms.

Steve kissed Lucy on the forehead and asked, "What happened during my absence? What's the matter with them?"

"It's them!" Saint Zachary pointed to a group of people, including Alex, and said angrily, "They don't keep their promises, and they force us to fight with them to steal our contribution points!"

Steve recognized Saint Zachary, whose strength was very impressive, among the recruits.

"Also, Sofia was badly injured by them yesterday! She is still recuperating," Lucy was clearly aggrieved.

Steve looked at Alex angrily and asked, "Death Combat Team, what do you mean by doing all of these things? The contract between us clearly stated that you cannot fight the recruits, yet you still violated those rules!"

Steve did not expect that they would go so far as to even injure Sofia in addition to bullying the recruits!

"Oh, I did sign a contract with you, stating that I would not fight them. So, I didn't fight them at all!" Alex sneered at Steve. "But, I don't have the right to control the rest of the Death Combat Unit…"

"Young lad, are you Steve?" Marshall looked at Steve with a sneer. "Are you going to seek justice for them?"

Steve's eyes were burning with anger.

"Honey, don't be impulsive. My sister was besieged by several of them before she was injured." Lucy quickly reached out to stop Steve.

"Sofia is a very calm person. How could she be seriously injured?" Steve asked.

"They found out about Vivien's mission and used Vivien's safety as a threat. My sister was worried about Vivien's safety, so she went to look for Vivien and was ambushed by them. Finally, after they were given all of the contribution points, they released Sofia." Lucy looked angry as she told Steve what had happened during his absence.

"Is Vivien back yet?" Steve suddenly realized that he had not seen Vivien for days.

Lucy shook her head and said, "Logically, Vivien's mission should already have been completed. She should have come back by now, but we haven't seen her yet. Perhaps the disappearance of Vivien is related to them?"

This was just Lucy's guess. However, Steve looked even angrier as he said, "You guys dared to break the contract and hurt Sofia and Vivien! You must pay a heavy price!"
