142 Round One

In the middle of the piazza, a huge fighting ring suddenly rose up. One of the veterans immediately jumped up and landed in the middle of the ring, announcing loudly, "I am Charles, a second-cla.s.s soldier. Who among you dares to challenge me?"

Charles was wearing red gloves. As he was a tall man with strong muscles, he gave others an impression that he was an expert boxer.

"As this is the first round, let me test their strength first," said Andrew, who had just stood up.

As the recruits were unclear about how big a disparity was present between them and the veteran soldiers, the first person to go to the ring would be placed in the most dangerous situation. He would also be the one with the highest probability of failure.

"Are you sure you want to go?" Steve asked.

"Ha ha, please don't belittle me. I've improved a lot recently!" Andrew laughed with confidence.

Hearing that, Steve and others did not try to dissuade him. So, Andrew jumped into the ring and took off his clothes, revealing the bra.s.s-colored skin and strong muscles on his fit upper body. His healthy body looked powerful, with defined muscles, like a cheetah!

"Recruit Andrew!" After introducing himself, Andrew shouted to Charles, "Come on!"

Charles smiled, waved to Andrew with confidence, then said, "Come on, let me see your strength."

Andrew's eyes displayed a ray of fierce light. Suddenly, he looked like a fierce leopard that was ready to pounce.

He then shot forward like a lightning bolt, slamming into Charles directly!

Wham!

Charles was thrown backwards by the huge impact.

"Ah!" Andrew shouted.

Suddenly, his skin was covered with a layer of steel-like metallic light, and his muscles became even more powerful. In an instant, he had caught up with Charles, who had been thrown off the ground.

The minute he caught up with him, Andrew punched him! Charles felt as if a cannon had exploded on his chest!

Wham!

Charles was thrown backwards once again. He was like a sandbag being thrown to the edge of the ring, sliding down the wall of the ring once he made contact with it.

"Good!!"

"Great!"

"Andrew, good job! That's it!"

"Haha! The veterans are not as good as we had first imagined. Look at how Andrew defeated him with just two punches!"

"Catch up and KO him!"

The recruits sent forth numerous exhilarating cries from the audience. Initially, they had not been hopeful. But, now that they had seen Charles being thrown backwards by Andrew with just two punches, great joy filled their chest and they were hopeful of winning!

Steve, however, was not at all happy because he observed that many veterans looked too calm. Some even had wry smiles on their faces. They did not look like they were defeated at all.

At that moment, Charles rose slowly from the ground, seeming to have sustained no injuries whatsoever! Even his left face, which had just suffered Andrew's punch, was only a bit red and swollen.

Charles patted his chest, then asked, "Do you only have that small amount of strength? You are too weak! If felt like I was being bitten by tiny mosquitoes! Did you really try your best?"

Hearing this, the recruits, who were excited and screaming, seemed to become choked. The entire atmosphere was completely quiet. Some of them even looked pale with fear.

"This is impossible! Even if you are an Original Being, my two punches would surely have injured you!" Andrew looked uneasy and his eyes were filled with shock. He then asked, "How much is the basic value of your cells?"

"Heh heh, you can rest a.s.sured that the new recruits are disciplined and the basic value of their cells will be over 350 points!" Charles laughed, then added, "The basic value of my cells is only 330 points."

Based on this data, without the use of Fundamental Techniques to increase combat power, Charles was much stronger than Andrew...

"He just used the defensive Fundamental Technique to block Andrew's attacks." Steve looked grim, then said, "He did to attack Andrew's confidence."

Sure enough, Andrew had attacked with all of his strength and used the Fundamental Techniques. Yet, he did not hurt Charles a bit, which was a big blow to Andrew's confidence. Even the morale of the new recruits was brought low.

This did not bode well for the coming battles!
