109 Suspicious Shopping Lis

"Hey, Sorry I'm late. I ended up missing the bus so I ran here." Sean said not even sweating after claiming to have run nearly a mile.

"N-no worries. I only just got here myself." Lily said even though she was too anxious about today so she arrived 20 minutes before the allocated time.

"So… what are we buying?" Lily asked.

"I wanted to get some supplies."

"Supplies?"

"For tonight. Our Halloween party." Sean said.

"Oh, I see."

Today was Halloween. Unlike last year, this year they had more people. Sean had been planning this event for a while and spent many days convincing Owen to come whilst also hiding exactly what the plan was.

"What supplies are we getting?" Lily asked.

"Ah!" Sean suddenly remembered. "That's a secret."

Lily was unamused with Sean's blindness who didn't think his plan through.

"It'll be ok," Sean said. "I'm sure you won't be able to tell what I'm planning."

Those words would be fine to most people, but perhaps it was Sean's level of unpredictability that made it scary. Lily didn't know what he was planning and when she saw the first item he had to get, she could only worry even more.

"Rope?" Lily asked.

"Yup. 25 feet of rope," Sean said crossing it off his tiny shopping list.

"What do you need that for?"

"It's a secret," Sean said smiling like a detective.

The two of them moved to the next shop after getting more rope than required. Sean wasn't certain that 25 feet would be long enough, so he got 50 just in case.

"Next up, A baseball bat."

"Well, I guess that is kinda normal," Lily said letting out a sigh of relief that it wasn't anything too strange.

"Ok, now we need handcuffs," Sean said.

"Moving on, I need blindfolds."

"Next I need a feather."

As the shopping continued, Lily couldn't help but get more and more panicky about Sean's true intent. Lily was a good girl, she had access to the internet but stayed off it when everyone started bullying her. However, this doesn't mean she is uneducated. She is old enough to come up with strange thoughts but young enough to not know how to use them. Needless to say, her nose began to bleed.

"Are you ok? Should we stop and rest." Sean said pulling out a tissue.

"N-no. It's fine."

"No!" Sean screamed. "We should rest. Come on. There is a bench here."

The two of them sat down at a bench while Lily attempted to figure out what was blood and what was her red face.

"Your face is really red," Sean said staring right at her with his face pressed against hers.

"Ah, i-it's nothing… this happens from time to time."

"I see. So how have you been enjoying Sixth Form?" Sean asked.

"It's a lot of fun. People don't seem to be looking at me anymore, now that my hoodie is my uniform, I blend in with everyone else."

"Exactly," Sean said. "Now you and Owen are hoodie bros. I've never seen either of you without a hoodie."

"Hehe. Yeah." Lily said hiding her hands inside her hoodie.

A common theme within this novel is an awkward silence. Science isn't able to determine why these 3 boys are so awkward around people of the opposite gender. Being awkward was what they did, even if they didn't want to. At least, Sean knew not to use the finger guns.

"You know," Sean began to speak. "I was worried that I was forcing you to do things you didn't want to. Like, with the holiday. I understand you didn't want to go to prom, but I feel like I forced you to go with us to the beach."

Lily looked at Sean and saw a new emotion on his face. She saw how anxious she had made him but couldn't help but think about how much she had changed in the short time they knew each other.

"It's ok," Lily said. "I enjoy everything we do together!"

She spoke directly at Sean who turned just as red. Lily looked at Sean and realised what she had just said before covering herself with her hood and letting out a cute high-pitched screech.

"S-shall we get back to shopping?" Sean managed to ask.

"Y-yeah… Let's do that."

The two of them continued to collect Sean's items on his "definitely not p.o.r.no" list. The two of them spent the rest of the time laughing and smiling. Unaware, that time was running out for them.
