200 How They Came To Be Part 2

Sitting on a train that would take them partway to their destination. Sean, Ethan and Owen, along with all their other cla.s.smates, sat talking to each other. Except, the three of them weren't exactly talking.

"Why are you so shy?" Sean persistently kept asking hoping for an answer after the seventh try.

"I'm not shy!" Owen bit back.

"Then why don't you talk to us?" Ethan asked.

"I have no reason to talk to idiots." He said coldly to Ethan's face, causing the tears that were falling from Ethan's face to freeze and shatter when they hit the ground.

"Oh, dear… he's crying again." Sean said unsure of what step to take.

The crying lasted for several minutes and by the time it stopped Owen said something else that would trigger the waterfalls within Ethan's eyes. The tears that never seemed to dry up. Always producing unnecessary amounts of tears.

"I hope you can swim, Sean," Owen said as he slowly dragged himself the rest of the way of the journey. "If he doesn't stop crying we might have to swim."

"Good thing I can," Sean replied. "Plus we also have to do swimming stuff whilst we are here."

"WE WHAT?!" Owen and Ethan said in unison causing both of them to tear up, except Ethan did most of the crying.

"Stop crying," Owen said. "We are almost there. We just have to brave it out."

"alright…"

They arrived at the campsite and stood in a large open area with a small hut in the middle. It was described to them as the showers but no one wanted to go into them and everyone just decided not to shower as it was only 1 night. Apart from all the large number of tents on either side of the field, trees surrounded them beyond that. There wasn't much to see.

"So we are separated by boys and girls?" Owen said

"Seems like it. Boys are on this side of the field with girls at the other end." Sean explained. "Seems rather… warlike?"

"d.a.m.n," Ethan said pouting and playing with the ground.

"What were you hoping for? Of course, they would put us nowhere near each other. It's because of creeps like you that we are apart."

"Well," Sean said trying to stop Ethan from crying again. "Let's just unpack and get ready for the meetup."

The first meeting was uneventful for everyone. It explained the basic rules and schedules that each cla.s.s would be following. A simple, A and B schedule with two cla.s.ses being paired up and swapping activities when they were finished. The first activity was kayaking.

"STOP SHAKING IT!" Ethan screamed to Owen as he walked along the tops of all the boats.

"Come on, Ethan." The instructor shouted at the end of the line of kayaks. "We are waiting for you!"

"Yeah…" Owen said not even trying to hide his malice. "Hurry up…"

"I DON'T WANT TO!" He screamed eventually giving up and running across at full speed. Pus.h.i.+ng each kayak he ran across down into the water as they all shot up behind him like an action movie hero running from an explosion behind him. How Ethan ran with that much force is unknown, but the splashes of water he created caused everyone to get wet but him.

"That was fun," Sean said drying his hair. "I'm gonna head back to the tent and put away my towel."

"Oh, I'll join you," Ethan said.

The two of them left with Owen standing around unable to get a word in. He thought about going after them but at this point, he was worried it would be awkward. He was embarra.s.sed to chase after them, it would be like pressing a b.u.t.ton on a lift to close the doors quicker and watch as someone trips over trying to get it. It may have not been like that, but this is what Owen was thinking at the time.

"Guess I'll go over here."

Owen aimlessly walked around looking for something to do in their free time. He was mainly waiting several minutes before he could start heading back.

"They really are weird." Owen overheard someone talk coming from the showers and instinctively hid behind the closest wall.

"Ethan's the weirdest of them all. Something about him is strange." They said,

"Sean's the worst one. Hanging around with people like them."

Owen listened disheartened to as much as he could. His heart was listening as was his brain. He slowly lifted his leg unsure of what to do. He quickly stomped it down and made himself known to the people talking.

"You shouldn't say that about people." He said, "You have no right to talk bad about people."

Owen left without saying any more. He wasn't sure why he said it nor why he didn't just leave it alone. Either way, he went back to the camp and made sure that it never came up again.

"Why do you hang around them?" The same boy that was at the showers asked Sean.

"Because they are nice people. And I can hang around with who I want."

As the sun had already set and people were preparing for the upcoming talent show from each of the cla.s.ses. Sean was speaking with people who were part of the football team. Somehow the topic of Owen and Ethan was mentioned and Sean defended them without hesitation.

"That Owen guy came up to us." One of them said. "He tried to tell us to shut up but it was embarra.s.sing for him. What a weirdo."

"He did what?" Sean asked.

"Defended you. Weird right."

"I'll be back," Sean said running into his tent headfirst crus.h.i.+ng Ethan and Owen who were inside as he didn't unzip it first.

"YOU DEFENDED US!" He said pointing at Owen who picked up on what was happening

"N-No I didn't." He said trying to defend himself.

"DON'T LIE!" Sean said as he slowly crawled over.

"Is this true?" Ethan joined in.

"N-no… it's not…"

Owen tried to defend himself but he kept getting crawled over by Ethan and Sean who approached restlessly. Owen who was cornered in his own tent picked up the closest thing he could and threw it at Sean.

The soft pillow that he threw landed right on his face. Causing Sean to throw it back. Starting a pillow fight.

"COME AT ME!" They all screamed as they laughed the night away. Forgetting that they had to help their cla.s.s in a talent show.

The trip ended, and the following week of school also ended. Sean, Ethan and Owen regularly hung out with Sean juggling between his friends on the football team and his anti-social friends.

"Anti-social creeps."

"Why does he hang around with them?"

"Better off dead."

"Why don't we mess around with them?"

As the trip ended, and the first month of their secondary school life was coming to an end. The first of many rumours they would experience in the next 7 years were forming.
