26 The Guilty Are Afraid Of The Law And The Innocent Fears The Fate

Just then they heard a knock coming from the princ.i.p.al's office door. They saw a young freshly appointed doctor entering from it. The doctor scanned the scene. He saw Alyssa sitting in front of the princ.i.p.al's computer and he can see on the computer the CCTV footage of the infirmary. He looked to the princ.i.p.al's and the attendant's foul expressions. He felt confused. He was standing by the door not knowing what to do. Just then he heard the princ.i.p.al saying, "Come In". He entered the room and politely closed the door after him.

Mr. Linton said, "Check this girl's would and tell me whether she had applied any medicine on it or not."

The doctor was confused. He wanted to shout and say, 'Can't you see in the footage that she hadn't applied any medicine on her wounds'.

But later he thought that maybe it was a way of the princ.i.p.al for knowing his staff's character. He didn't want to disappoint him and wanted to leave a good impression on him. He thought this as a test to evaluate him. He went towards Alyssa and took her hands in his hand. He frowned genuinely looking at her blisters and wounds. He understood that these were the wounds caused by silver. He looked towards the princ.i.p.al and said, "She hadn't applied any medicine on her wounds. But her wounds are serious and are caused by silver. Let me take her to the infirmary to bandage her wounds ".

The doctor was newly appointed in the school. He had heard rumors about Alyssa but he has never met her or saw her. Additionally, he thought the princ.i.p.al was examining him so he spoke the truth.

Alyssa felt bad for him because from now he will receive the backlash of this incident. Maybe he will get fired too.

A simple misunderstanding made her work so easy. She felt lucky enough that the doctor that came was young and naive in the field of politics. She looked towards the princ.i.p.al for his opinion.

But a person cannot always win through sheer luck. He had to work hard to achieve his goals. Alyssa's strategy and the video footage created the misunderstanding. Who knew if the doctor had not seen the footage, he would have sided with the princ.i.p.al.

The princ.i.p.al's face fell. He could clearly see his thick pile of money flying away from him. He maliciously looked towards Alyssa. The attendant too had a bitter face made up. Alyssa smiled looking at them and got up from the chair. She smiled towards the doctor and said, "Thank you, doctor. But there's no need for that. I am perfectly fine." After saying that she went outside the princ.i.p.al's office without the princ.i.p.al's permission. She was not in the mood to deal with their rotten att.i.tude anymore. Her hands were burning in pain and she wanted to at least first aid it before dealing with another baseless accusation against her.

'To be innocent is to be not guilty but to be virtuous is to overcome the evil inclinations.'

Alyssa was always bullied and gets wounded all the time. So she made a habit of keeping the first aid box with her all the time. She took a pair of rubber gloves from the washroom and used it as a cover to open her locker. Even with the rubber glove as a medium of isolation, Alyssa could still feel a stinging pain in her hands. She took out the first aid box and applied the medicine on the wounds.

It was lunchtime and Alyssa and her group were having lunch together. "How did this happen to you," Marcus asked. His eyes wide in question.

"Nothing. Just silly pranks" Alyssa replied coolly.

"Just tell us, girl. Violet is too much. Every time she steps up her game. Her cruelty is like the waves of an ocean, one more cruller than the other". Marcus clutched his s.h.i.+rt near his heart in mock pain.

"Drama queen". Alyssa shook her head and laughed.

Alyssa then recounted the whole event to them. The attendant's plot, the princ.i.p.al's scheme, and the beautiful misunderstanding of the doctor. Her friends were a good audience. They gasped and commented about the event in the right places.

But what Marcus said was true too. Violet was becoming more and more aggressive with her bullying. Alyssa had to do something to stop her.

Just as they were eating and talking about random things the phone in Alyssa's bag vibrated. The vibration froze her friends completely. Even Dianna who was absent-minded and silent the whole time looked at Alyssa questioningly. Alyssa looked towards them feigning innocence.

Seeing her expression, Dianna scoffed. "Now, these expressions will not help you from questions little girl," Dianna said impersonating as a cop. Both Kale and Marcus heavily nodded beside her. Marcus even spread his hands so that he can catch Alyssa if she decided to run.

Alyssa rolled her eyes and said, "It's nothing guys. It was not from me." as Alyssa said this another notification sound came from her bag. Alyssa closed her eyes in frustration.

Without giving her any chance to reply or say or explain anything, Kale took her bag and handed it to Dianna. Alyssa looked towards Kale in surprise. It was so unlike him.

The most innocent person is now scheming behind her back. Alyssa gasped in fake surprise. Kale scratched his head shyly.

Seeing this Dianna s.h.i.+elded Kale behind her and glared at Alyssa. Alyssa gave a strained laugh.

Dianna opened her bag and searched through her items. She looked inside and took out a strange and yet a familiar object from it. It was familiar because everybody knows what a cell phone is. They already have it. It was strange because everybody knows how poor Alyssa was. She couldn't afford two times meal forget about having a cell phone. Seeing their exaggerated expression Alyssa felt a headache coming. Dianna raised her eyebrows in question.

Alyssa could have lied if she wanted to but she spoke the truth. It was one thing to hide something from your friends and it was a whole new thing to lie to your friends. Hiding can be forgiven up to some extent but for Alyssa lying was unforgivable.

She sighed and said, "Recently I was earned some money by betting. So I bought a mobile phone from that money."

Hearing this question her friend's eyes sparkled, they simultaneously asked, "How much did you win?"

Alyssa looked at their greedy expressions and said, "I haven't calculated it yet but it is around some million dollars." Her friends gasped, now it was genuine. Seeing their greedy expression and before they can say something Alyssa added, "Now tell me what you wanted to eat. My treat."

She knew her friends too well. They were born foodie.

Dianna scoffed, "If not for the notification bell, we would have never known that our friend is so rich. And would have missed a chance to eat something good." She accused Alyssa.

On this Marcus chimed, "As a punishment now you have to buy the most expensive meal in this cafeteria."

Alyssa sighed. Unknown to her, this demand was going to bring another trouble of a whole new level on her way.
