8 Sweethearts 8

Hence, the girls once again surrounded Peach. Yet, this time, it was to give her gifts.

Some were gifts of food while others were toys. Some were even brand new toys.

The girls believed that as long as they befriended Peach, Shen Mochen would speak to them. Holding on to this belief, they took turns brown-nosing her.

Peach blinked her eyes at this sudden change. After staring at them for a while, she reached out her tiny hands and accepted the presents with great joy.

At this young age, Shen Mochen had already demonstrated his talent to support his wife using his charm.

The kindergarten boarding experience lasted only one week. After all, they were but young toddlers. After leaving their parents for a prolonged period of time, they would inevitably miss their parents.

As Peach was the youngest, Professor Shen would fetch her to and from kindergarten every day on his bicycle.

In that way, Shen Mochen could also see his father every day. Because of this, he wasn't as homesick compared to the other children.

Therefore, Peach and Shen Mochen appeared exceptionally calm and collected amidst the group of crying children in cla.s.s. At that moment, they looked very much like a couple.

Shen Mochen took a glimpse of his surroundings. The ear-piercing cries made it difficult for him to concentrate on his drawing. He could not help but turn to look at Peach who was sitting beside him with an equally calm expression on her face. He frowned, "They're so noisy. You cried like them when you were younger."

"Huh?" Peach looked up at him, baffled. How could she possibly have memories of when she was a newborn?

"You looked as hideous as them when you cried." Shen Mochen criticised mercilessly.

"Was I really that ugly?" Peach asked. She was a girl after all and it was natural for her to be concerned about her image even at a young age.

"Hmmm…" Shen Mochen brows furrowed as he gave her question some serious thought. Looking at her and at the other children, he then shook his head and replied, "No, they are a bit uglier than you."

"Oh." Peach blinked her eyes and scrutinised her surroundings. She evaluated the crying children and nodded in agreement. "Peach is not too ugly."

"…"

On the other hand, their teacher was rus.h.i.+ng around the cla.s.s in a flurry, comforting one child after another. It was a long time before the entire cla.s.s calmed down, and she finally felt relieved.

Just then, Shen Mochen said loudly, "Your parents are not coming to fetch you today."

After hearing this sentence, the children who had just calmed down thought that he was talking to them. Uncontrollably, they started crying their hearts out again.

The teacher looked at Shen Mochen grudgingly, and was about to march over to tell him not to sprout nonsense.

Before she could go over, she heard Peach answering loudly, "Yeah, G.o.dfather said my parents are going out. There's no one at home, so I'm staying at your house today."

Unfortunately, her response was drowned out by the cries of the other children. However, her teacher still heard it and realised that Shen Mochen was not purposefully being disruptive. Sighing deeply, the teacher resignedly started comforting the children again, one by one.

It was finally Friday. Outside the kindergarten, it was already packed with parents waiting to fetch their respective child. After all, it was the first time that their child had left their side for a prolonged period, and most parents only had one child.
