Everyone's eyes lit up when they heard that the miniboss could drop Immortal-grade equipment. There were almost a hundred Bone Dragons in the sky. a.s.suming that they could kill all of them, and that every dragon dropped between 3 to 5 items, it wasn't unthinkable that the Dragonlight Cavalry could equip 1 or even 2 Immortal-grade equipment at the end of the day. Currently, most of our cavalry troops were wearing Earth-grade or Heaven-grade equipment. There were very few players who got Immortal-grade equipment of their own because it was both incredibly expensive—at least 100k RMB on the market—and rare. Without sufficient skill or luck, it was practically impossible to obtain such items!

"Hold! Keep the tanks healed and don't die!"

He Yi barked orders while playing the tank herself with Li Chengfeng, Gui Guzi, and me. Spreading the miniboss's DPS evenly among ourselves, we were able to keep the Bone Dragon from threatening anyone of us. Its dragon breath dealt at most 100k HP to us, which was nowhere enough to one-shot our tanks at all. Also, the skill had a cooldown between 2 to 3 seconds, and that was enough time for our priests to heal everyone back to full health.

The Bone Dragons we aggroed descended to the ground and swiped at our s.h.i.+elds. We hit right back with Barrier Breaks and more powerful skills. With Beiming Xue reducing their Defense with Bone Eroding Arrow as well, the possibility that they might outlast us simply didn't exist.

Less than three minutes later, the first Bone Dragon died and exploded into a shower of equipment. To our pleasant surprise, it dropped not 5, but 11 pieces of equipment! Chaos Moon happily swiped them all and distributed them to the other players. The Frost Cloud workshop declined any reward because we had already received handsome rewards for winning the WEL nationals and internationals. Rather than h.o.a.rding the Bone Dragons' loot to ourselves, it would be wiser to distribute it to our core players such as Gui Guzi, Li Chengfeng, Chaos Moon, High Fighting Spirits, Xu Yang, Du Thirteen and more. They are the pillars of Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls. The guild couldn't be strong without them.

"Here come another three!"

Beiming Xue said while aggroing three Bone Dragons with her arrows. This time, Xu Yang and I worked together to tank a Bone Dragon each. My mount jumped into the air, and I hacked the miniboss right across the neck. To my surprise, Mountain Crush triggered and allowed me to slice through three of the Bone Dragon's backbones. It screeched in pain as a damage number no one expected popped into our vision—1477272!

"What the f.u.c.k, Lu Chen! A MILLION damage? Can you be any more OP than you already are??" Xu Yang exclaimed in shock.

I was pretty shocked myself. I had no idea that Mountain Crush worked on mobs like this as well. Awesome!

Hurt, the Bone Dragon turned around and bit me on the arm. It was this close to swallowing the Dragon G.o.d s.h.i.+eld and my Ancient Divine Dragon whole. Something unexpected happened again, however. The sleeping Ancient Divine Dragon abruptly opened his azure eyes, s.h.i.+vered a little and let out an angry growl. The draconic roar resounded in everyone's hearts!

The Bone Dragon let go of my arm immediately like a frightened kitten, stunning everyone once again. Who would've thought that a simple dragonling's roar would scare the s.h.i.+t out of its unholy brethren? Seriously, the Bone Dragon was literally shaking like a quail. If my Asura King's Deterrence lowered the miniboss's stats, then the Ancient Divine Dragon's roar straight up rendered it powerless!

Not about to let the golden opportunity pa.s.s by, my guildmates swarmed the Bone Dragon from all sides and killed it in no time. On the other hand, I took a moment to catch my breath and watch my dragonling fall into a deep sleep again. G.o.d d.a.m.n, just how much does a dragonling need to sleep anyway?

Suddenly, the Bone Dragons in the sky roared in unison. After they had torn most of the Griffin Legion into pieces, they began dive-bombing the ground and spitting their draconic breaths at us, dealing around 100k+ damage per hit. If it was just one hit, the Dragonlight Cavalry could tank it without problem. However, some of the Bone Dragons were attacking the same location at the same time. Those players who were unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire all burned to their deaths.

Still, everyone was giving it their all. Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls and our subguilds were the only guilds still alive to defend the eastern gates. b.l.o.o.d.y Mercenaries and our subguilds filled in the blanks as the players of our main guild died to the a.s.sault. Dozens of Bone Dragons circled in the air and spat fire on the ground the moment their cooldowns were up. The entire Sky City was literally on fire right now.

Suddenly, a figure wreathed in flames crashed down from the walls and smashed into our formation. She skidded across the ground before hitting a Bone Dragon's leg in the end. There was only one NPC warrioress who dressed herself in fiery battle armor in this city, and she was none other than Princess Karinshan herself. Her lips were stained with blood, and a deep gash marred her normally flawless arm. Behind her, the enraged Bone Dragon she had slammed into tried to swallow her whole, but the furious woman easily cut its head off its neck with a single swing of her blade. NPCs had it so much easier than players when battling against another mob. That was 25% HP in a single hit!

"Here I come!"

A woman's voice came from the walls, and Karinshan hurriedly turned around and crossed her sword in front of herself. A loud clang later, the woman was sent stumbling to the back. The attacker was none other than Sophie herself. There was no chance Karinshan could ever hope to defeat her.

Sophie swung her sword again and left another wound across Karinshan's chest. Smiling sinisterly, the Snow Minstrel said, "This is all you got after cultivating your strength for a millennium? Why don't you give me your life so I may summon that powerful yet cowardly Sword Saint of Stars of yours?"

Karinshan's sword hung limply beside her legs, and blood trailed down the blade and dripped onto the pure white marble beneath her feet. At a glance, they looked like red peach flowers.

"Dream on! Master Carrance has secluded himself in the sacred hall since centuries ago! He'll never accept your summons! Sophie, you will regret everything you did today. The only one who wronged you is yourself!"

"Take your hypocritical words elsewhere, woman!"

Sophie fired a burst of undead energy at Karinshan's chest. It was a grievous blow that threw the princess of Sky City to the back and slammed her into the statue of a sword carved by a famous craftsman. The symbol of the Silver Moon Alliance cracked at the impact before crumbling into a million pieces.

"What do we do?" Gui Guzi said with widened eyes, "The G.o.ddess of Death is so fierce! We're all going to die if this continues!"

I raised my sword and declared without hesitation, "What else? Work with me and attack Sophie! A Divine Rank boss is still a boss you can kill!"

I raised my left palm and fired a golden seal into the air. It fell down between Sophie and Karinshan and stopped Sophie from landing what could've been a fatal blow.

At the same time, I activated Great Earth Transformation and threw my sword at her. Coiling Dragon Revolution spun toward her like a hurricane!

Unfortunately, the blade hit Sophie's powerful protective aura and bounced away, spinning back into my hands. That being said, I had finally caught the G.o.ddess's attention!"

Sophie looked at me and raged, "You are… an undead? Hahaha! What a joke! Well, that doesn't matter. Xinran isn't around to save you this time, 'older brother'. I will kill you, sever her only tie to the living and take her back to the Purgatory with me!"

She abruptly appeared in front of me as if she had teleported and swung her blade, shouting, "Die, boy!"

The Purple Ying Sword s.h.i.+vered almost as if it could sense the opponent's power. I tried to Guard Sophie's attack, but her strength was so much greater than my own that my own sword was pressed into my own shoulders, dealing 178973 damage! I was also blown away to the back like a leaf!

I skidded across the ground for a long time before I came to a stop. More than half of my HP had gone missing from that one strike. Thankfully, both Murong Mingyue and Moon Dew weren't far away from me, so a couple of Instant Heals later I was back to full health.

Meanwhile, Li Chengfeng, Gui Guzi and Xu Yang reached Sophie!

Li Chengfeng's Dragonbone Flurry wasn't able to do too much damage to Sophie. The brave Xu Yang closed his distance with the G.o.ddess of Death in an instant and hit her back with a Mountain Staggering Slash, but...

Sophie knocked He Yi out of the way before raising her sword above her head. Ignoring the attacks. .h.i.tting her body, she growled, "Death Storm!"

"Back off!" I hurriedly shouted.

Li Chengfeng and Gui Guzi managed to escape out of range before the AoE skill hit, but not a dozen or so Dragonlight Cavalrymen. It was a one-shot of course. Who in the world could survive an AoE skill from a Divine Rank boss?

I rose to my feet and attacked again. This time, I fired Dragon Slaying Slash and Ancient Seal!

The attacks enraged Sophie and caused her to run toward me. She easily cut through the Heaven-burning Armor and planted her sword through my chest, dropping my HP to zero. Luckily, I had activated Resurrection Art beforehand and revived back to life!

"Hmph! Petty undead tricks!"

Sophie swung her sword, and again, I lost another level. This time, I was nailed to the wall and unable to move.

It's over!

I couldn't think of anything that would help me or my guild defeat Sophie. h.e.l.l, at our current level, even surviving her a.s.sault was an impossibility.

It was at this moment that I heard a soft voice that I almost missed, "I'm almost there, big bro! Just hold on a bit longer!"

"Xinran? Where are you?" I looked around in confusion but couldn't find her anywhere.

It was at this moment I heard a heavy and ancient voice from the back. "Let go of that young warrior, Sophie. I am the one you're looking for."
