5 Chapter 5: The Odds Are On My Favor.

"What's wrong?" I knew he won't tell me but I asked anyway.

He once again held my arm but gentle this time. "I've been raising a snake."

Oh! He actually just answered it. He didn't need to elaborate it for me to understand. There was a traitor in this house and I'm sure it wasn't me. I don't have anything that will be used against him. I don't even know a single thing about him either.

"C'mon, we are not in the jungle," I shook my worry off with laughter. Does it mean I am in danger again? No, I won't be killed twice, if you know what I mean.

"Go to my room right now!" he ordered.

My face cringed. "Why? What are you planning to do?"

His blue eyes told me that it should be something that I won't need to know. He sighed and got up. He held my wrist and pulled me towards his room. It was on second door from the back of the stair case. He opened it and pushed me in. He closed the door with only me inside.

"Hey! How can you shove me in here without knowing what to do?" But I guess my voice was not audible on the outside.

I heaved a sigh and look around. His room was neat and clean. The colors were grey and black that goes with the whole house. I sat and face the vanity mirror. The perfumes were laid neatly above the table.

What was taking him too long? Does Cris—no, did I just made a mistake? Will Cris get in trouble because of me? What was wrong with asking him about his trip to China? G.o.d, he was so petty!

I stood up and paced around the room. The windows were open and I can see green field across this house. If the other side was full of coconut trees, then here was just a vast s.p.a.ce with nothing but gra.s.s. Good to have picnics if weren't for the situation.

His bed was tidy—as if he had not been sleeping here. I wondered if he also had no phone. It will be very unfair to all of us if we don't have and he has. I was about to rummage in all of the doors I saw but one door opened.

"Hey!" Kean said. His face now was a lot gentler than then.

"What did you do?" I asked and walked outside.

"Just a little repair," he said and closed the door behind me.

"What about the snake?" I asked cautiously.

He smirked. "It's gone."

I don't know why the hairs at the back of my nape stood up. I'm pretty sure we talked about a certain person earlier. A traitor. But now that his answer was that it was gone, does it mean that he killed it?

I stared at him.

"What?" he asked.

We walked back to the living room. I sat to one of the couch and he situated across me.

"Nothing! It feels like you're doing something bad…" I almost pinched myself for not be able to hold back what I thought. "I mean… you are… uh…"

He laughed. "I a.s.sure you. You are safe in here. I won't cause you any harm, Kismet!"

"By the way, why do you always call me Kismet? Stop that! It's irritating me," I said. s.h.i.+t! Remember, Kara! You have to be nice to him.

"It's for me to know and for you to find out!" he said and stood up.

"Hey! Where are you going?"

"To the city. Wanna come?"

City? I don't know about anything else but this time I'd love to go. It will be my first time to be outside. My lips stretched for a big smile and excitedly stood up.

"I'll go first in my room to get ready," I said and hurriedly went up to the stairs.

"Be down in thirty," he shouted.

"Up for it, man!" I replied.

Half an hour later, we were in his car. He maneuvered it to get out of the gates.

"What will you do in the city?" I asked as I put on my seatbelt.

"Date," he said and gave me a sly smile.

I raised my eyebrow. "The h.e.l.l! And I will accompany you on your f.u.c.king date?" I don't know what came to his mind but inviting me to join was really inappropriate.

He stopped the car and faced me. "Then you'll go back to the house?"

My jaw almost dropped. "You're f.u.c.king unbelievable! And no, I'm not going to leave this seat."

He started it up again. "Then we're settled."

An hour later, the streets were full of cars. I guess we were approaching in the heart of the city as traffic jam already started.

"Do you want to buy something?" he asked.

"Smartphone?" I answered immediately as that thing always comes to my mind.

"Other than that," he replied.

As expected but I am not going to give up. "Then laptop?"

He sighed and looked at me briefly. His face was giving the 'I'm fed up' look. "Okay! I am buying you a phone!"

The rest of the trip was me preventing myself to smile. Having a phone, I was a step closer to freedom.

"No, I am not taking that one!" I clearly said.

We were on an electronic shop for our first stop. He was picking me an outdated phone. And yes, the one with keypad.

"This is way cheaper that those touch screens."

"Kean!" I am on the verge of making a scene right now.

He gave a hearty laugh and pushed back the phone to the sales lady—that was ogling at him since we have been here.

"Give me that one, miss!" he said pointing at an Iphone.

"This one is the latest model, sir," the sales lady said.

She was hesitant to pull out the phone from the display gla.s.s and looked at me like I was the odd one. She didn't know what my situation is. So, I gave her a sharp look.

"Just take it out, miss! He already knew it and he can afford it," I said and looked up at Kean who was smiling. I guess he also sensed the tension.

I was not normally like this. I really like to socialize with people but I guess a few weeks of staying alone caused me to become like this.

Kean took out his card and paid it fully.

Now, we were in the car and my new box of phone was in my lap.

"So, where is your date?" I asked.

"I am already having a date," he said nonchalantly.

I laughed as I was slowly getting the idea. So, I'm his date? "What? How can this be a date, moron?"
