67 The Value Of Human Lives

It was unknown who was the first to act. It was similar to a domino effect. When one person started, everyone else followed.

Spring-Autumn stood calmly in front of the crowd of thousands. There were some faces he could recognize, [Users] from the wall. But there were more new faces than old. He could tell that these were the ordinary people that roamed the streets. No, it was wrong to call them ordinary. Would it be better to call them extraordinary?

"Aaargh!" The crowd yelled in unison as they rushed to him all at once.

It was similar to a war cry.

[Bullet Time]!

The world slowed down and color faded away. Spring-Autumn took the time to look at the facial expressions of those around him.

Rainmist only had pure confusion on her sculpted face. Spring-Autumn gently pushed her behind him. She was only a defenceless woman after all.

Next to him, Winter. Uncertainty? Reluctance? Spring-Autumn could not tell what emotion he was seeing from his biological half-brother. His glance only stayed on the man for a brief second.

In front of him, the crowd continued to run forward at a snail's pace. There was excitement. There was confidence. There was greed.

s.h.i.+ng.

The duration of [Bullet Time] ended. Spring-Autumn did not do anything in that time besides observing.

"You all have b.a.l.l.s to come at me like this,"

[Attribute Cloak: Sword Form]

As usual, Spring-Autumn's cloak lifted off his body and began to shrink into the form of a hiltless, gray sword that emitted a dull l.u.s.ter.

[Mode: Past]

Boom!

The might of 45 points in [Strength] could be seen in full. The sword's arc slashed through the first five men in the front. From the strength within the sword alone, the five men were blown back, hitting the people behind them and many after.

There was now a gap in the crowd of people from the amount of people that were blown back. However, in the face of over a thousand people, this gap could easily be filled in the matter of seconds.

The first to receive the brunt of the strike did not die. Their bodies were merely bisected in half. The two pieces of their bodies wiggled as if it wanted to get back together into one piece.

There was only a slight smirk on Spring-Autumn's face. Even he himself did not know what he was feeling right now. Perhaps it was amus.e.m.e.nt.

Boom!

The sword did a sweeping arc once again. A dozen men were blown back. There was a short gap within the crowd before quickly recovering.

Just like how Spring-Autumn had never fought a thousand people before, these thousand men did not know how to fight a single man together either.

The ones at the back started to realize that they could not reach Spring-Autumn because of the amount of people in the front. They began to gather and formed a ring to prevent his escape.

Boom!

"Ahh!"

Every slash of the sword came the sound similar to that of an explosion followed by groans of pain.

"I'm in a rather good mood. Why don't you all just stay on the ground now?" Spring-Autumn said with a tone of voice that was loud enough to reach everyone's ear.

Despite having slashed his sword so many times, there have been zero deaths. Spring-Autumn was a man that understood the value of human lives.

Unfortunately, the men that came today came with a resolution. There were over a thousand of them, they were going to succeed!

The first wave was merely those that only knew close combat. The real problem came now.

Mana gathered at a rapid pace above the ring that was formed by Shadow's men. The first wave of attack was merely a distraction!

[Users] and [Harmonization] users alike stood together, forming the strongest mana projectile.

A young man was guiding them.

"Everyone step back!" He warned the first wave of men who had been knocked down by Spring-Autumn. These men were scrambling on the ground as they tried to collect their wiggling limbs.

"There's no way you can escape," The young man said confidently to Spring-Autumn. He had blue hair and he carried a red spear in hand. This man was Loti.

"Now, Mr. Winter. Why don't you take a step back too? We don't want to harm you," He directed his words to Winter who had yet to do anything since the whole charade began.

There was no reply from Winter. Without a word, he began to walk back. Spring-Autumn sent him an inquiring glance. But Winter never looked back.

Despite having relinquished his status as a Primo member, Spring-Autumn felt strangely empty watching Winter walk away. Despite not always having the best of relations, this was how things were going to end up?

The surrounding [Users] continued to pour mana into the surrounding mana projectiles.

Now it was just Spring-Autumn and Rainmist who watched Winter walk away with mixed emotions. It was just the two of them who were entirely surrounded now.

Spring-Autumn's eye never left Winter's departing figure until he was out of sight. When Winter disappeared, he returned his gaze to the [Users], to Loti.

"Hahahaha," Spring-Autumn laughed slowly.

His green eyes were glowing.

"I understand now,"

His eyes swept across his surroundings once again. He could recognize them. The [Users] whom he saved from the lizard people. Loti, who he saved with his own hands.

That day when he entered the dungeon, the first person he saved was Loti. His objective was Winter per request of Sunglow. Now, the man had walked away.

Later, he gave his all and battled the lizard shaman.

The memory of that battle played through his mind. Killing lizardmen like he was cutting gra.s.s, killing the shaman.

Kill.

When Shadow attacked him because of his relations with Sirius. Now he is attacked for the same reason.

His green eyes left Loti feeling chilled to the bone now.

"I understand now," Spring-Autumn repeated.

"I was stupid for thinking you all had value,"

"You are all worthless," Spring-Autumn smiled at the sudden revelation. "I am going to kill you all,"
