'Bow down mortals! The G.o.ddess is here!'

I proclaimed in my mind as I noticed people sending me glances of admiration and envy when I entered the hotel where I was invited to have dinner with the Hamilton family.

Since I'm still sixteen years old, I didn't choose the s.e.xy type of dress especially knowing that my chest is still at its humble state. Fully utilizing my Asian-like beauty, the red and black dress I wore had small oriental designs which made it look like a modern traditional chinese dress.

"Ethereal! She looks like a fairy."

"Is she a young actress? Her beauty is absolutely stunning!"

"Hmph! She looks gorgeous because of her dress."

When I heard the last comment, I looked at the girl whose face was laced with envy and gave her a smug face.

'HEH! This hoe doesn't understand. The dress looks gorgeous because I'm the one wearing it! If the dress could talk, it would've spoken all words of grat.i.tude to me for wearing it.'

"Good evening, I presume you are Miss Maria Lily Burnsworth?" A woman who looked like an employee of the hotel approached me.

"Yes, I am."

Hearing my response, she bowed her head and spoke. "The Hamilton family have arrived a little while ago. Please do follow me to the designated area for the dinner."

I nodded and followed her lead.

When the door of the room was pushed open, I laid my eyes upon on a luxurious dining room and like what the employee told me, the Hamilton family were there.

They were a family of four. I paid no attention to the Hamilton boys since I've already met them at school so my line of sight naturally went to the two new faces; my prospect in-laws. Loraine Hamilton, the mother of Lance and Louis, she looked like the typical gentle mother with her brunette hair tied in a neat bun and blue eyes that sparkled the moment she saw me. As for the father of the Hamilton boys, Dan Hamilton, his blonde hair and amber eyes made him look das.h.i.+ng but the authoritarian atmosphere around him would make people think that he is unapproachable.

'Though he can't beat Daddy's level. Daddy is basically an overlord.'

"It's my pleasure to be invited for a dinner with everyone here." I smiled especially towards Loraine and Edward.

Loraine immediately rose from her seat and made her way to me. "Maria! It's been a while, my dear." She gave me a short but tight hug. "Come! Come! Forget about formalities and sit down with us."

"En!" I gleefully did what she suggested and sat down.

My seat was in between Lance and Louis. When I looked at Louis, I'm actually surprised that his face didn't show any displeasure. His eyes were glued to a gla.s.s of juice as if it's the most interesting thing in the world. The brat didn't even bother to look at me!

As for Lance, his smile was from ear to ear as he kept on looking at me.

"Let us have our dinner first." Dan spoke with a stern tone.

An exquisite and mouth-watering full course dinner was then served. From time to time, Loraine and Lance would speak with me obviously to keep me entertain but Louis and Dan were silent.

Honestly, I was starting to get impatient. While we were having the desserts, I started to throw words of provocation to finally break the ice.

When a slice of nut cake was served, I pushed it a little forward indicating that I have no intention of eating It. This small action of mine didn't escape the eyes of Loraine.

"What's the problem Maria? I thought nut cake is your favourite dessert?" Loraine asked.

With modestly downcast eyes, I replied. "Yesterday, I almost fainted at school so the doctor told me not to eat some nuts for a couple of days."

'G.o.d of nut cakes, I apologize for the blasphemy.'

"How terrible! How do you feel today? I hope you did not force your body just to join us in this dinner." Worry was evident in the expression and voice of Loraine.

I made a weak smile making myself look so vulnerable and adorable. "No worries, Aunt Loraine. Lance immediately came to my rescue." I glanced to Lance and gave a small nod. Then my eyes then floated to Louis who was already looking at me.

I inwardly smirked.

"Actually, Louis was also with me when I fainted but Lance was a little faster in responding to the situation."

The atmosphere instantly plummeted. The only person smiling in the room was me. The members of the Hamilton family understood what I was implying.

Dan sipped some wine then looked at me.

"Maria, we are thankful that you had made us aware of the foolishness of our son. His careless decision had caused you a lot of trouble. Knowing that, we are aware of the possibility that you want to cancel the engagement." Yes, there was grat.i.tude in the voice of Dan but there was also disappointment.

"Maria, my dear, I know that you were hurt by my son's actions thus I would like to apologize." This time it was Loraine who spoke.

"Hahaha"

Everyone was surprised by my sudden laughter.

"Aunt Loraine, why are you the one apologizing? You did nothing wrong! Besides, your apology is worthless if the person himself hasn't repented at all." My eyes then narrowed at Louis.

Seeing that he just kept on staring at me, I lightly kicked his foot then I turned to Loraine and Dan.

"May I have some time alone with Louis?"

Loraine and Dan immediately gave me the permission. We went to the indoor garden of the hotel located at the topmost floor for a little privacy.

'Fufufu~ Let's take this kid on an emotional drive.'
