41 The Remnants Of Evil

Everything eye can see—living or inanimate, has ice.

Every particle in this realm adapted to the ice and cold. This is one of the most unique places to exist with an eco-system.

The living ent.i.ties here, be it Plants or Profound Beasts absorb the Ice elemental Profound Energy and cultivate.

This place is a holy land for the cultivators of Ice Elemental Cultivation Techniques. Yet, even they can't reach many places before being frozen for eternity.

There are countless useful herbs, natural treasures and secrets in this land waiting for someone brave to explore and acquire.

This is precisely one of the Four Forbidden Lands of the Continent: Eternal Frozen Land.

It spans across a vast region and lies in the south of the continent.

Countless cultivators risk their lives to gain a fortune and change their destiny. Naturally, many leave their last breaths here becoming one with the land.

In such a dangerous beautiful place, beneath a Snow mountain, the two silhouette stopped.

"AWOO"

"AWOO"

With a terrific howl, a pack of Crystal Snow Wolves surrounded the two figures.

The terrifying thing, however, each of these Crystal Snow Wolves were at the peak of Earth Realm!

In the next moment, the two figures blurred and appeared in between the creatures.

SHUA

SHUA

Sounds of piercing were heard as the the crystal ice armours of the Wolves were penetrated without delay.

"Aw...o..o" miserable howls sounded one after the other before the situation descended into silence once again. But the place was no longer the same.

Blue blood splattered on the ice as the corpses of the snow wolves laid on the floor.

They had only one cut on their body. However, the blood didn't stop gus.h.i.+ng dying the ice floor red.

The two figures didn't have a drop of blood on them.

At first look, they looked Sect Disciples.

One of them was in gorgeous black robes while the other in Refined snow white robes.

But, black was not the colour of any of the sects nor clan.

The Sacred Sword Sect robes are brown, Mystic Ice Sect are Ice Blue, Rising Valley Sect are Orange and finally, Blazing Fire Sect being Red.

Qin Clan-Navy blue, Xia Clan-Green, Yang Clan-Violet and Lin Clan-Pink.

The two people at the feet of the mountain were female, young ones at that.

The one dressed to be in black robes looked to be around 14-15 years.

The Young Woman in the Snow White Robes had a veil covering her face, she seemed to be around 16-17 years Old.

The La.s.s pouted "Senior Sister, we have been searching for 11 days for it already. Is it really there or only a rumour?"

The Young Woman replied "There are bases even for rumours. They won't request things which don't exist unless they want to waste our time. I have to get it, Ke'er. If you are bored, you can go back. I will return after finding the herb."

Ke'er vigorously shook her head and clung onto the arms of the young woman "How can I leave Big Sister alone? I will follow you."

Meng Xin sighed and patted the girl "Fine. Take some rest. We will continue searching tomorrow."

Ke'er smiled cheerily as her cute face looked even more adorable. She held Meng Xin's exquisite hand and shook "Senior Sister, When you were fighting those wolves earlier, I found an underground pa.s.sage.There should be treasures. Let's check it out."

Meng Xin's calmness turned into slight astonishment "If you agree to retreat at the sight of any danger, we can see what it is."

As Ke'er agreed nodding her head like there was no tomorrow, Meng Xin followed her into the underground pa.s.sage.

It was directly at the corner of the mountain they were under.

At first glance, it was like any other place. But there was a slight b.u.mp on the ground which Ke'er accidentally pressed during the fight earlier. The two girls saw a narrow pa.s.sage opening underground.

Meng Xin was a little amazed at Ke'er's luck.

Then, she followed her into the pa.s.sage and saw a room.

It was calm, clean without a speck of dust. There was not even a hint of white in the air nor was there chilling coldness. It was warm and serene.

Meng Xin was sure that a formation was needed to do this.

But didn't most of the cultivation heritage disappear 5,000 years ago?

Her Master once said that a great evil struck the world 5,000 years ago and humans were on the brink of extinction.

It was a hard victory that humans achieved. But the result claimed the lives of billions across the world and put an end to the bloodlines of many great families and clans accompanied by the doom of numerous sects.

Many things they left behind were lost in the rivers of time. The ones lucky enough to receive the legacies of the Ancient powers were embroiled in a war for power. It was only long later that peace ensued in the world and a stable system was established.

This is the history only the top echelons of the continent knew. It is easy for some organizations to use this history to spread their propaganda. The history itself is dark and terrifying.

Hence, people were told a sweet lie that the only big war that ever happened was millions of years ago called "Mythical War".

With all the organizations saying the same thing, even intelligent people cannot point out a thing from this so-called history due to lack of evidence.

Meng Xin looked at this room. It was empty. Taking the best advantage they could, the girls decided to take shelter there for the night.

They started cultivating after some basic protection.

Time pa.s.sed by. Suddenly, Meng Xin's eyebrows twitched.

It was very faint, yet she was sure that it was a fluctuation of energy.

'Heart's Sense' from the Cultivation Technique she cultivated gave her the ability to feel Energy in the surroundings. The higher her cultivation, the larger the area and the sharper her perception.

Though the fluctuation of the energy was only a little, the energy itself gave her a deadly and sinister feeling. She felt fear and hate instinctively.

Meng Xin silently walked towards a corner of the room. She closed her eyes and extended her spirit sense. She was on guard, but at the same time, using 'Heart's Sense' to the fullest.

A while later, she opened her eyes. Even with her calm disposition, she was unable to hide the shock and fear on her face.

That Energy once again came from the other side of the wall and gushed out from an aperture at the bottom.

Meng Xin no longer hesitated and brandished her thin long sword with a tremendous force.

'BANG'.

The Wall showed signs of cracking, but didn't crumble.

Meng Xin had a feeling that something is there on the other side and it is important. But it is definitely not good.

Ke'er opened her eyes when Meng Xin first slashed at the wall.

She didn't know what her Senior Sister was doing. But judging from the serious furrow of her eyebrows, she knew that it is very important and possibly dangerous.

Ke'er silently readied her sword to help her in case. Meng Xin didn't pause as she used her sword technique over and over. Looking at the cracking wall, the worry in her heart didn't decrease, instead, it grew with each pa.s.sing second.

BOOM

The Wall finally collapsed.

Meng Xin turned to Ke'er "You have to stay here and stand on guard. If anything happens, I will depend on you."

She didn't tell the words like 'Don't come because it's dangerous.'

She knew if she did that, Ke'er wouldn't listen. She gave Ke'er a sense of responsibility and at the same time, keeping her out of danger.

The dust settled and before the duo could even do anything, a gale of sinister energy was unleashed. Thankfully, It was not strong enough to harm them but it's inherent qualities of evil and bloodl.u.s.t were terrifying.

Meng Xin braced herself and walked past the broken wall to check the source.

She gasped at the sight.

A chasm was present ahead. It was filled with a pitch black and blood red clouds of gases.

The sinister feeling and energy were coming from it.

Meng Xin sensed an intense bloodl.u.s.t, rage, coldness from the chasm.

The astonis.h.i.+ng thing, however, is the intensity of the energy is decreasing.

That means the Source of this Energy was already cut off!

If only the remnant energies were so strong, then what about the source of them all?

Meng Xin looked carefully at the bottom and found that something has been dug out at the ground. Through the marks, it should not be more 5 years.

Who discovered such a sinister thing? What if it falls into evil hands?

It should already be more than 5 years and there was no terrific incident on the continent. So, just what happened?

Meng Xin pushed those thoughts to the back of her head and decided to tell her master about it.

'If there is such a terrifying enemy, there is nothing I could do against it now. So, I better focus on my own cultivation.'

Once she thought of letting it go, then all the worries in her mind disappeared and she was back to her calm self again.

But the only thing which she felt a pity was the herb she was looking for.

It was a mission she accepted.

If she retrieved the herb, then she would get to cultivate in that 'special place' and breakthrough.

Alas, now she found something which she couldn't ignore. So, she had to leave.

Ironically, when she was turning around, at the corner of her eye, caught a a light blue coloured thing. It was growing from the wall of the chasm and masked from her spirit sense. It was only a bit away from the clouds of gases.

Meng Xin's eyes brightened. She spread open her spirit sense and walked into the chasm just like that.

Stunningly, however, after she stepped onto air from the edge, she didn't fall down.

Instead, she floated in the air.

This scene was enough to shock countless people to death.

Because to float in the air so smoothly, her cultivation realm should be at least Sky Realm!

She slowly descended.

Protecting her body with profound energy and a precious armour, she retrieved the herb.

It was called Nine Yin Frost Gra.s.s and grows in extremely cold regions which are washed with blood and bones.

Meng Xin only knew that a famous alchemist requested this herb and her master told her about the award.

However, it was very difficult to find such a herb. Hence, only a few disciples accepted this as a side mission.

She wanted to wander outside to gain insights into her cultivation technique and at the same time, finish this mission.

She left the cave. Now, she could return and cultivate peacefully after receiving her reward.

She would also report Little Ke'er's contribution and get her the reward she deserves. Meng Xin's magnificent eyes blinked in satisfaction.

Afterward, Ke'er watched the red gas and her cute little face paled sensing the bloodl.u.s.t.

They didn't linger longer as they avoided the profound beasts and set out in a path.

Their destination—Qin Capital.
