s.h.i.+ Mengwan let out a sigh and hugged Su Qingsang tightly. “If I had known this earlier, I wouldn’t have allowed you to marry Huo Jinyao.”

“Sure, I shouldn’t have married him. I should’ve married you.”

“I am in favor of that.” s.h.i.+ Mengwan widened her eyes in mock seriousness. “You should abandon him and come into my embrace.”

“That will not do,” a pleasant, crisp male voice sounded out. It was unclear when Huo Jinyao had returned home, but now he was leaning against the door while staring at the two women. “She is my wife, so don’t you think of s.n.a.t.c.hing her away from me.”

“You’re back?” Su Qingsang smiled as she released s.h.i.+ Mengwan’s arm. “You’re just in time for dinner.”

“I’m was going to let both of you know that dinner is ready.”

“Let’s go.”

Huo Jinyao went forward to take Su Qingsang’s hand and led her out to the dining area.

s.h.i.+ Mengwan feigned hurt and trailed behind them while making mock teasing noises.

“You abandoned me the moment your husband arrived, when you had said that you want to be with me. Woman, you really value men more than friends.h.i.+p.”

“Let’s go. You talk too much.”

Su Qingsang was amused. She turned and extended her hand to s.h.i.+ Mengwan, but the latter avoided it with a pompous look on her face.

With that, she went outside. Xiang Caiping was just placing the hotpot on the dining table and she was full of smiles when she saw s.h.i.+ Mengwan.

“Mengwan, you’re just in time for dinner.”
