10 An Antagonist Of Her Own Life

They were the last one to go since everyone was excited to head for the dorms and meet their roommates. In the corner of her eye, Hikaru was humming an unfamiliar song. She tried to follow along with the tune but, she added another melody to it.

"Woah! You can compose?!" Hikaru exclaimed, shocked to hear her hum with him. Eika nodded shyly, she hugged the notebook she forgot to put back on her bag.

"Well, every day, actually," She said sheepishly and, with the way Hikaru was looking at her. He had this wide grin on his face that seemed so bright it hurts.

"We're gonna rock this beach party! You, me, nothing can stop us!" He declared with a victory pose, and Eika burst out laughing. Hikaru was exaggerating his movement so much since their meeting at the auditorium. Another melody started to form in her head. It's been a long time too since she made one. She was nervous to get into Ace Academy that she had forgotten she always loved.

"Well, we must remember not to be disappointed if we didn't get chosen, expectations ruin everything," She reminded him, and Hikaru abruptly stopped on his tracks. He s.h.i.+fted his body to Eika and gasped dramatically at the thought.

"Ms. Jane Eika Miyamoto! Pessimism isn't allowed in my Christian server!" He wailed, and Eika raised a brow at him. She moved past him and rolled her eyes fondly.

"I doubt you're a Christian thought," She shot back with a smile and Hikaru let out an amused laugh. He smacked his forehead and followed after her accidentally brus.h.i.+ng his arm with her.

"Then you're what? Buddhist? Shaman? Atheist?" Hikaru asked a question one after another and Eika hushed him, denying all of his suggestions. No one needs what she believes in.

"I know we can do this! Trust in me, okay?" He said confidently, but his tone became a bit softer when they reached the dorm buildings seeing how they were the only ones outside. Eika turned to look at him. She stared up at his eyes and lowered them again. Nope, she can't look at him just yet. She looked away and nodded.

"Okay, I will," She held out her pinky for him. "Promise to trust me too," She didn't look at him. She tried to everywhere else. She feels like a child. Hikaru smiled and complied with it. They intertwined pinkies and shook it together. Eika was the first one to let go and, she coughed.

"See you tomorrow then!" She said hastily, she hurried to get inside the dorm but, Hikaru called her one last time.

"Can I get your line so we can stay in contact? Ya know, girls aren't allowed at boys dorm so we gotta stay in contact if we want to do a good job," Hikaru suggested, and Eika raised a brow at him. Who said I'll go to his dorm?

She coughed and took out a piece of paper. She wrote down her number and gave it away.

"I'll talk to you later tomorrow then," She smiled and, she gave him a wave. She walked inside her dorm. Well, this is a start. She's excited to meet her dorm mate too. I hope they can talk about different kinds of things.

As she strolled down the hallway, she couldn't help but be impressed of Hikaru. He was able to ask a girl's number without being shy. He must be used to it. She thought to herself, she got rid of those thoughts and hurried to her dorm.

Meanwhile, Hikaru couldn't keep his eyes off on the piece of paper that Eika gave him. He wanted to bang his head on a pillar and scream to himself. He actually asked a girl's number! It's his first! Like what the h.e.l.l? It's his first! The teenage boy wouldn't be able to keep his excitement in check once he gets to his dorm.

Eika checked her dorm room. Room 402. It's the right one, no mistake here. She placed the dorm key on the scanner and, she walked inside the room and took a deep breath. She's glad to find a bed. Suddenly her body felt heavy all of a sudden. She forgot she has jet lag and, her knees dropped to the floor. She didn't even make it to the bed!

She crawled towards her luggage and opened it to start unpacking, she noticed that her roommate hasn't arrived and she sighed. She took out her casual clothes, pajamas, and undergarments. She was about to place them away on the wooden cabinet but, someone's clothes are already there.

The door swung open and, her roommate was shocked to find her there. She has small eyes with fair white skin, she has curly brown hair that reached up to her elbows. Her features became sharp when she saw Eika opened her cabinet.

"That's my spot!" She hissed and approached her cabinet to shut it with a slam. Eika jumped away from it. She didn't mean to open it.

"I'm sorry, I thought it was empty," Eika said apologetically but, the girl didn't give her a break. She sighed at her and rubbed her temples. She took a tape from her study desk and taped a line on the floor.

"You should have waited for me," She said irritated. She pointed at the line. "You shall never cross this line got it? I thought I'll get a proper roommate for once!" She threw up hands up in the air and Eika was taken aback. She wanted to defend herself from this person but she couldn't. Instead, she looked down at the floor. "I'm so-"

"Shove it!" Her roommate left the room, slamming the door behind her. Eika covered her face with her hands, wanting to sob quietly to herself. She hugged her knees and sat there for a while.

She went to this academy thinking she might get a life that her cla.s.smates boasted about but all of this was too tiring. Is she an antagonist of her life story?
