45 Danger Ahead?

To be honest, would I never take her at face value but I don't think she would lie to Knight. Turning around the corner I lead him to the service entrance at the side. At this time I was focus on getting him out of the crowd that I didn't notice that he was still holding my hand.

Usually, I wouldn't use this entrance as it was a bit of a maze. I open the heavy door and slide to the right and pushed open another door and walked down the stairs upturn my lamp and open the third door, unlocking the protective spell. It was good feeling to finally be home and Knight standing right where I wanted him on the eye of Horus gold that I had painstakingly painted into the floor.

"I know we have business. But I heard of your jewelry collection up for sale, can I take a look," he said still holding my hand. "Everything is for sale?"

"Almost," I said trying to keep my tone flat and controlling myself to not pull my hand away.

Carefully, I open the heavy vault door and turn left. The section where the less than cla.s.sy jewelry items were kept in my black room where the last of the vault boxes that was not ripped off by the designers.

"I like it" he said his eyes looking into a red ruby choker.

It was a simple piece with spider webs symbol engraved. I still haven't uncovered the incarnation used to active it yet. So it was not time.

"That is not for sale. There is no incarnation." I said opening another box to show him.

Usually getting the incarnation was easy, place it on the projector and wait. If it was more complicated I just looked it up in my aunts' library. This piece, however, seems rather mysterious. David even lent a hand but we couldn't even work out the inscription on the inside or what the little details in the design meant. Our butler was rather impressed with the piece and asked to acquire it for his niece if I didn't want to keep it, he's a lot wealthier than I as my aunts pay the help well. I turn him down and he reacts emotionally. I never seen his mask slip before but that was the day I saw his real face and I'll never be able to trust him again.
