"Neil Long was sitting in his office working on the acquisition and forced takeover papers of Hu industries.No proper heir and the ties with the underworld revealed,n.o.body wanted to touch the mess that was Hu Industries except Ryu Long.It was late in the evening and Neil was reluctant to work more.. It had been a month since this complicated procedure had started after the ball but it wasn't coming to an end.He wished to take some time off.He wanted to spend it with his Mi Rae and tell her that he loved her!He had been remiss in not telling her until now!He wanted to meet her family and then he wanted to propose marriage to her.He already had everything planned!His eyes scanned the scattered papers on his desk and he frowned.These papers had become his nemesis and the bane of his existence.Taking out his phone he texted his suns.h.i.+ne,"The hour is dark and I miss my suns.h.i.+ne!Tell your brother Ryu to release me from this captivity!"

As he kept down the phone,he thought of her reaction and quickly decided to finish his work with renewed vigor.Just as he was about to get back into the flow,there was a timid knock on the door.Without looking up,he called out saying,"come in."The door opened and the m closed and the office was filled with the aroma of coffee.Already a coaster had been placed on his table for the coffee and the mug was placed directly on it.Neil continued his work as he murmured a polite thank you.The person bringing in the coffee did not leave however.Though Neil bad been engrossed in his work,he was aware of his surroundings and realized that his a.s.sistant had not yet left.He looked up to see the face of Ning Xue.Neil gave a sharp frown and asked coldly,"What are you doing here,Ms Ning?"

Ning Xue, who was standing near Neil's chair immediately went on her knees and said,"Brother Neil!Please listen to me just once.If not for the sake of Ning Ning then like an elder brother who treated this little sister well in th past."

Neil shook his head at her persistence and said,"Ms Ning,I have asked you to let go of the past.So please stop bringing it up repeatedly."But this time Neil's tone had softened a bit when he spoke to Ning Xue so this gave her some hope to say her piece.In a tear filled voice she continues,"I cannot let go brother Neil.I had never known that my sister had done so much wrong by you.As a child all I knew was that one day you were going to be my brother in law and the next, my sister was dead and father was angry.He even threw out brother Matt when he came to pay his respects.It was only later that I pieced together the information.Brother Neil,my father is dying.Once he is gone,there will be no one that I can call family.I don't wish to barge or b.u.t.t into your life.I just wish you will give me a chance to redeem the Ning family name in the eyes of the Longs'.

Neil had heard everything she said but his face was turned towards the other side.So Ning Xue did not know what he was thinking.Finally she had said everything.No the rest was upto brother Neil.She could only beg for his forgiveness.Her continuously flowing tears,which she did not wipe,combined with her pitiful sobs and kneeling posture,made her look like a delicate doll.Neil was unable to hold hos cold gaze much longer,but when he saw her weeping,he could not even consider giving her a helping hand.Somehow the words that came out of her mouth reminded him of Ning Ning instead of the little girl he knew.So curtly he said,"Ms Ning,you have said your piece and I have heard it.If you are asking for forgiveness for your sister,she is already dead and gone.If,you want forgiveness for your family,then there is nothing really there to forgove.So I will repeat for the last time,Please let the past be.Don't try to dig up graves.And I am sorry that your father is suffering.You must take this opportunity to spend his last moments with him.Now please leave."

After crying a while,Ning Xue's face was getting red and a bit swollen.So taking such a face,she went out.Since it was already evening there were not many people there in the office.The few people who were there in the office observed her face when she came out of Neil's room but said nothing.They felt uncomfortable asking any questions.It was a known fact that Neil Long could be ruthlessly cold when you had committed a mistake.Maybe Ning Xue had done some major blunder to get a scolding and thus was crying.They dare not approach her for fear of making Neil more angry.

Inside the room,Neil drank his coffee and continued his work.He checked the number of pages that were left and breathed a sigh of relief.Soon he would be able to escape.After a while,he suddenly started to feel warm and stuffy.Getting up he opened the window to let some fresh air in but that made no difference and instead caused his ehad to throb in pain.As soon as he sat on his chair,he understood what had happened!Da** it!He had been drugged!Byt why?

No!Now was not the time for whys.He needed to escape.If he had been drugged,then it was to feasible only if they could get their hands on him.He looked for his cell phone but it wasn't there.His doubts that the person who drugged him was Ning Xue were now firmly confirmed. Getting up with the support of his desk,he unsteadily walked towards the his room's door and locked it.Going back to the desk,he saw the picked up the intercom but all lines were seemingly *busy*.So somebody had dared to be an accomplice in Ning Xue's scheme.Neil loosened his tie and unb.u.t.toned his s.h.i.+rt a few b.u.t.tons and tried to cool himself and fight the heat.He went into the soft room and tried to absorb as much cooling as he could but the fire in his body was burning and everything was turning blurry.From the little cupboars in the room,he took out the spare phone and checked it's charging.It was full!Immediately he dialled Mi Rae's number but the phone was busy...He was now getting short of breath and the ache in his pants was getting unbearable.He needed release and soon!But he was not going to lose to a drug,he told himself fiercely.His eyes had now lost focus and he was drenched in sweat.He tried hard to maintain his faculties but he was losing control.Opening the message page,he sent one word to Ryu,"Drugged." and then tried to redial Mi Rae's number.but soon the phone was lost from his grasp and fell on the floor while Neil collapsed on the small bed inside the cabin.

Mi Rae was busy preparing for a meeting with a potential client when she received a message from Neil.She read the message and smiled.As she was about to reply,her a.s.sistant knocked on the door and escorted inside the said client,forcing Mi Rae to place her phone aside.However within a few minutes the client received an urgent call and had to leave immediately,freeing Mi Rae earlier than expected.Mi Rae looked at the message again and was dialled his number but his phone was switched off.Sighing,she packed her stuff and left for home.Maybe she was distracted or something,she did not even realize that she had turned towards his office instead of going home and only came to know when she was already parked.Shrugging her shoulders,she decided that she may as well see him and cheer him up while she was here.

Outside Neil's office,most of the employees were packed and ready to go.One of the members came upto Ning Xue and asked,"Are you not leaving?"

Ning Xue,whose voice was now a bit hoa.r.s.e said,"No!Sir asked me to stay!I want to go home but he asked me to stay here!"With that she made a face as if she had said too much and rubbed her arms as if cold.The colleague looked at her weirdly but left soon.The office lights had now been turned off and after making sure Ning Xue stood up and made her way to Neil's office.But she stopped just before reaching the door and turned back.Taking off her suit jacket,she placed it on the back of her chair and then went to the door again.Her fair hands came forward to open the door but the handle wouldn't turn!She frowned at the stiff handle and jerked it but it wouldn't budge.F***!the door was locked!This was going to be a problem!She immediately took out a pin from her hair and tried to open the door.She just needed to get inside and then let Neil Long feel her.Then the drugs would do their work!Her hands were shaking as she tried to break open the lock but the just wouldn't go in.Finally the pin was inside and she was able to pick the lock.She entered inside cautiously.She had not expected Neil Long to be aware enough to lock the door so there were chances that he could attack her.She looked around the room cautiously but could not find any trace of her.She opened the b.u.t.tons of her s.h.i.+rt and took off the heels as she looked around the room..It made bo difference to her whether she slept with him or not.If she succeeded then she would be able to blackmail him in the future and if she failed,she was going to sue him for attempt to r***.She had already laid the foundation for that accusation with her earlier performance.But the chances of him being able to resist her were next to none.She finally realized that the inner door to the small  bedroom was also locked.She frowned at the man's diligence but knew that she was just a lock away from her target. She made small work of the lock and entered immediately.This time over confident of herself.But she was in for a shock.The room was empty.Neil's jacket and tie were lying there thrown across the room but the small bed was empty.Before she could turn around to look for him,a heavy law book landed across the back of head rendering her dazed for a few minutes.Neil had actually been hiding behind the door His s.h.i.+rt was wet with a mixture of sweat and the water he had thrown on himself to cool him down and his breath was coming in short pants.Even though the air conditioner had been turned to max,he knew that he had very little self control left.It was a good thing that the drug was not paralyzing.Using the few moments that Ning Xua was dazed in,he struggled out of the room.But unexpectedly his body was not co operating with him and soon he was about to fall.At the end moment,Ning Xue caught him by winding her arms around his waist.He pushed her off with all his strength which he had little of left but once she had fallen on her bu** he was exhausted and had to lean against the wall for support.Using this opportunity,Ning Xue ran to him and clutched at him sticking like poison ivy and buried her face into his neck breathing hotly.

Neil felt disgusted at this.His body was betraying him.He tried to gather his strength to push her away but to no avail.He closed his eyes and for the first time in his prayed desperately.Though it seemed the fates were against him.It was at this moment that Mi Rae reached his office.Seeing Neil leaning against a wall and a woman hugging him,she was shocked to the core.For a moment her heart wrenched.Her first reaction was to run away from this but her second reaction was that Neil could never do this to her.By the time she could absorb the facts,and run to help him,another figure ran past her at the speed of lightning.

Ryu Long reached his brother just in time.Using the last of his reserves,Neil had pushed Ning Xue away.Ryu caught the shocked Ning Xue and pushed her aside to catch the flailing Neil.Seeing this Mi Rae also was jolted into action and ran to Ryu and Neil.Something was terribly wrong with Neil.Together Mi Rae and Ryu Long took him back to his office and laid him on the bed.Ryu then turned to Mi Rae and said,"He's been drugged.Take care of him.The doctor is on his way."

Before Ryu could turn around,Ning Xue had come inside and tried to once again jump on Neil.But this time,she was stopped by Ryu.However Ning Xue had also consumed this drug just before coming in.She was mindlessly looking for some activity and she tried to cling to Ryu.She kept on mumbling about wanting a Long baby no matter which Long she used.Her father just wanted her to conceive a Long brother's child before he pa.s.sed away.Ryu frowned when he heard this garbled nonsense.Ning Xue managed to escape Ryu's hold and once again dived for Neil.However,Mi Rae had had enough and she jumped in front of Ning Xue.With anger burning in her at the thought of her trying to make out with Neil,Mi Rae felt that she could claw the bit**'s eyes out!Mi Rae gave her a hard slap across the face and pushed her back causing Ning Xue to fall and hurt her head losing her conscious.Soon the ambulance had come and taken away a struggling Ning Xue alongwith the police.Neil was also taken to the hospital where he was then treated for any side effects.

A few Days Later:

The incident with Ning Xue had caused another sensation with the media who were only now recovering from the annual ball last month.But soon Neil was set to release another shocker. He shook his head to clear his thoughts as he was getting ahead of himself and looked at the time..It was time.!soon the a.s.sistant would start playing...

In Mi Rae's office:

Mi Rae was  working on a simple case when suddenly the lights in her office gave out and the office turned dark with the only light coming from the small window..She was about together up when suddenly a small weird noise was heard.She tried to look around to check the source of noise but to no avail.But soon the whole office was filled with the sounds of birds chirping.Mi Rae was now clueless about what to do and could only sit and look around,a bot scared.She was about to shout for help when two little blue birds appeared on the wall near the door.She sat back in shock when one bird said,"h.e.l.lo suns.h.i.+ne...how are you doing?I am tweedy and this one is tweedo.We are here to see you!"Mi rae now say back on her chair with a thump.She studied the birds carefully and realized that this was Neil's doing.She looked closely at the projected 3d images which looked like real birds.Suddenky the bird named tweed chirped,"Won't you say hi to us?We are here to become friends with you."

Mi Rae blinked confusedly and muttered a hi.How was she expected to talk to birds and that too animated ones?Mi Rae then rolled her eyes at that.As if she could talk to real birds.Since she was lost in her own thoughts she almost missed the next words of the birds."Suns.h.i.+ne!Your fairy G.o.dmother is here waiting for you.Younneed to get ready and race towards the ball dance to meet your prince!",,chirped tweedy.The next second tweed pushed away tweedy and said,"Suns.h.i.+ne tweedy is a bit dumb so he doesn't know how to clear confusions.See you have to go for an important event just now and you need to be ready. We have already brought a stylist aka fairy G.o.dmother for you.So please get ready so that we can take you to prince charming."Tweedo then snapped her animated wings and soon both the little birds disappeared leaving behind a dazed Mi Rae.

The first thought in Mi Rae's mind was weirdly,"Just how much had Neil spent to crete such realistic looking birds.Her next was why and finally her curiosity compelled her to wonder,just what was Neil upto.Not once had she thought that he was about to propose to her...Looking diwn at her file,Mi Rae decided to go meet her 'fairy G.o.dmother' and went out of the office.Standing there was the top stylist of country C.She was even known to have dressed Hollywood celebrities..Of course Mi Rae did not know this and was informed in awe struck tones by her a.s.sistant.Mi Rae smiled and greeted the stylist a little embarra.s.sedly for not having recognized her but the stylist smiled professionally and soon put her at ease.Due to 'lack of a proper s.p.a.ce',Mi Rae was kidnapped to a studio setup in a nearby building.There she was given a pretty white silver knee length dress to chage into.Now Mi Rae was confused even more.If she was not mistaked,Neil had prepared something to go along for the cinderella theme.Then she should have a ball gown right?But there was something awfully familiar with the dress that she could not put her finger on.After donning the dress,did she realize why it felt familiar,this was very similar to her mother's wedding dress!After this,Mi Rae was suddenly attacked from all sides with someone doing her hair,another doing her her nails and another her make up.Finally within a short span of 30 minutes,Cinderella Mi Rae was ready for her party.Her hair was tied up ina soft knot with little wisps of it falling around her face.Her only accessory were the long earrings that graced her ears.But Mi Rae wanted to laugh out loud suddenly.The best stylist had dressed her up but there was one flaw.They had given her the same shoesthat she wore to the office.What happened to gla.s.s slippers? Only as she admired herself in the mirror did she get a horrible thought!Horses.Cinderella rode a horse carriage to the ball.No way was she getting into a horse pulled carriage in this day and age!Lrt the prince charming wait forever if that was the case.With her fingers crossed,she went out to see her ride and breathed a sighof relief.Though the car outside was a long strech limousine which was eye catching,it was no less inconspicuous than horse drawn carriages.

She made her way to the car as the chauffeur held open the door for her.The inside of the car was dark and dimly lit.So it took her a few minutes before she realized that there was a scroll kept on the seat.Pressing a b.u.t.ton on the side panel,she asked the driver to brighten the lights and then read the Imperial scroll."It is declared that the Prince is going to marry the woman who stole his heart.The only way to find the woman was to see if shoes in this car fit her.If the shoes fit then she was destined to be the prince's bride."

Mi Rae looked around and saw the delicate gla.s.s slippers.She now understood that this was a part of her proposal!Neil was going to ask her to marry him!She felt all sorts of b.u.t.terflies in her stomach and she was could hardly wait for him to ask her.She found the gla.s.s slippers and realized that they were custom made for her!Neil was also it seems obsessed with getting her s.h.i.+ny footwear.Soon the car reached it's destination and Mi Rae got off in front of what looked like a castle!It actually was a castle!Neil had chosen the Hotel Castle Royal which was a new hotel of Lance Inc inspired from the old European style architecture.At the entrance stood two rows of people throwing confetti and flowers t welcome her into the palace.She was then escorted inside where a soft melodious song was playing.She looked around at the place was breathtaking.The room looked straight out of a fairytale!It was decorated in fairylights and lightblue flowers.The birds tweey and tweedo and many other like them were dancing and chirping on the walls which looked like tree branches. Thebentire hall was filled with silver balloons.It was a mixture of the elegant beauty and ethreal grace.The grand nature and opulence brought together.But there was no Neil!She looked around but saw no one.Suddenly a pair of hands wound around her waist and she felt his warm engulfing presence around her.Finally the moment she had been waiting for was here.Mi Rae felt that she was having an out of body experience as Neil slowly turned her in his arms.The hall was then flooded with more soft lights and Neil held her as they swayed to the music staring deep into each other's eyes.Finally,the music reached its crescendo and Neil finished their dance with a soft peck on her lips.He then escorted her to a partially hidden table and made her sit.

Once seated,Neil went down in his knees and sat before Mi Rae.He held her warm hands in his and said,"Suns.h.i.+ne, You pulled me to the present from my past and held me here.Everything inside me was dark but like the light you are you made your way into the gaps and brightened everything.And now I want you to do this in the future as well.This dress was made from your mother's wedding dress.Your parents have a happy marriage and this is their way of giving us their blessings."Neil then picked up a velvet box from the table and opening presented it to her.Inside was a big dark blue sapphire surrounded by small solitaires.Mi rae felt her breath hitch at the beautiful ring and her fingers curled.Neil whispered to her now,"This is the ring my father gifted to my mother when he was successful.She was his lucky charm always and to thank her and commemorate their anniversary,he had this made.If you like,then I want to present this ring to you as their blessing and ask you,Mi Rae will you walk with me forever and be mine forever?Marry me?"

Mi Rae was crying now.The ring had been beautiful as is but knowing that it held beautiful memories for him was something she was even more grateful for.She held her hand forward and Neil slid the ring onto her finger where it nestled perfectly fitting.Mi Rae jumped into his arms and kissed him trying to put all her love onto the kiss.

Later at night:

Neil and Mi Rae were laying in each other's arms and As Neil whispered his sweet nothings to his fiance,something occured to Mi Rae. Her eyes opened wide and she asked,"How did you convince my mother to part with her wedding dress?"

Neil shrugged and said, "I didn't. I challenged your brother to do it for me.I have yet to meet her so I cannot be so forward!He,called me sometime back and said that as long as I agreed to your mother's request,I could have my wish."

Mi Rae suddenlynhad a feeling of foreboding.Her brother and mother had colluded, something was brewing.In urgent tones,she asked Neil,"what was the request?"A sly smile graced his lips and a cunning look in his eyes,"She actually had two requests.Very easy ones at that."That smile and those words were even more disturbing. She narrowed her eyes and knocked twice on Neil's naked shoulders.For a minute she was distracted by their strength but she refocused and asked,"Tell me the requests."Innocently he answered,"She wants us to help her find a daughter in law and she wants grandchildren at the earliest.She even hinted that instead of using the dress for proposing, I should abduct the bride and get married straightaway as that would be more romantic.Tell me suns.h.i.+ne,should I kidnap you?."

Mi Rae rolled her eyes at that.This must be the only mother in the world who wanted her daughter to be kidnapped..

Hehehe, Mi Rae's mother had almost reminded him of Uncle Ye with the only difference being that she actually liked him.

Naturally,with the way Neil answered her question and then changed the topic,Mi Rae did not catch on to the fact that her mom's grandchildren also meant her children.She was doomed..But having been thoroughly distracted by Neil,the poor Mi rae was clueless. 

The next morning,Neil decided to skip his exercise routine to burn some calories at home with his precious Mi Rae.He woke up and was busy staring at her as he decided where to start his treat.Sadly for him,somebody had other plans.The moment Neil's lips were about to touch some pale soft skin,the doorbell rang.Neil decided to ignore it and the person ringing it.The person was persistent and did not give up.Finally,irritated and ready to growl at the person,Neil picked up his discarded s.h.i.+rt from a nearby chair to open the door.He wore it without bothering to b.u.t.ton his s.h.i.+rt.He had no intention of letting anyone linger and be a lightbulb!he hated lightbulbs.

However,best laid plans go awry and this one was an impromptu one.The moment the door opened,Neil was met with three very different expressions.He immediately recognized them though he had only met one of these three people.The man looked him over and frowned heavily while Zheng Hou crossed his arms with a smirk.But the most interesting reaction was that of the lady standing with them.She wolf whistled at him!Literally wolf whistled.Please excuse his mouth which fell open in shock and welcome Mrs Zheng!The older woman's action caused the two fierce looking men in the family to close their eyes while the older Mr Zheng moved to cover his wife's eyes with his hands and then sternly said to Neil,"Young man.The least you can do is cover yourself when you meet potential in-laws.After this fiasco,anyone would have blushed but not Neil.He was too thick skinned and remarked with a bow,"Well Mr Zheng,now you need not worry about the looks of your future grandkids."Winking shamelessly at his mother in law(who had shooed away her husband's hand),Neil invited them in and went to wear some clothes.

He shook his head at his lost chance and thanked fates that they had yet to start on any exercise.His face softened and he slightly shook Mi Rae.Just like her new habit,Mi Rae just held onto Neil's arms and mumbled something in her sleep.Neil went close to her ear and said,"As much as I would love to join you,suns.h.i.+ne your parents are here!"Mi Rae woke up with the biggest jerk ever and glared at Neil,"Don't make such jokes at this hour."

Neil flicked her nose and said,"The joke's on us babe.They are sitting there and this is how their son in law welcomed them!I have a feeling that it was all your brother' doing!He wanted to embara.s.s me.You might want to talk to him."

Mi Rae ran out of the bed straight to the bathroom pus.h.i.+ng even Neil out of the way ad closed the door.He was left frowning at the door!She was decently dressed.Mi Rae should have atleast gone to see her parents before she escaped to the bathroom!Should I continue to appear in front of them in these pyjamas?In this time,Mi Rae had brushed her teeth and finger combed her hair and ran out to welcome her parents into her home.Neil wondered when his womanhad turned into wind.Mrs Zheng was outside bickering with her husband for blocking such eye candy.She blamed him saying,"You are the one who wanted to come so early in the morning.I told you we should wait!But no you did not wish to listen!And you Hou Ge!I asked how he looked and you said average.I was so worried about my Mi Rae's wedding pictures!If that guy is average then what do you call Greek G.o.ds?Just handsome?Really you got brains but your eyes are faulty.Atleast your sister showed good taste.

Mi Rae ran out of the room in a haste,straight into the arms of her parents.The two hugged her back fiercely and then started asking questions at the same time.Though the context of their questions was very different.Her father asked,"Is he good to you?Will he keep you happy? while her mother asked,"Is he good in bed?Will he keep you happy there?"The husband glared at his wife while Mi excused herself to the kitchen so that they could share a happy breakfast.Thus came to an end Neil's first meeting with his in laws.

The Wedding Day:

Neil and Mi Rae had decided to have a small and intimate wedding with only close friends and family members.On this happy occasion,the most frustrated and the happiest was Alicia Long.Happy because she was getting an official sister while frustrated because the baby in her tummy refused to let her walk gracefully!As Alicia took her place as the matron of honor,she looked at Neil who stood in the groom's place waiting with a hint of impatience on his face.She thught back to the time when he had proposed marriage to her on behalf of his brother.Never had she thought that they would reach here within a few years.When she had restarted her life,she had hoped but not believed that she would ever be this happy.Whenever she had looked at the darkness that filled Neil,she had hardly dared to believe that he would be able to push through it!Mi Rae really has been his suns.h.i.+ne that spread light through him.She looked at her hubby who smiled back at her as he stood in his place as the best man and then at the other two.Her eyes glowed as she imagined them getting married.Ah Hai was young still but it was going to Matt's turn too.She whispered a quick prayer that he be blessed soon.Just then the wedding march started to play and a two little boys holding a little girls hands between them strewed flower petals along the way before making their way to stand next to their father Ryu Long.After this it was the bride's turn.Mi Rae came out with her hand in her father's and smiled radiantly.Neil had also lit up as if he was a christmas tree.He looked almost relieved that Mi Rae had arrived.As if she would ever abandon him!Poor Neil was a fol for love!

The bride and groom had eyes only for each other.They were not aware of how the bride's mothers was weeping prettily while clutching her son's sleeve.How Mi Rae's father glared a warning at Neil as he pa.s.sed his daughter's hand into Neil's.The two said their vows to each other and were soon declared husband and wife.Not that Neil heard what the preist announced.He was busy bending his new wife over his arm for a kiss much to the cheerful laughter of everyone.The wedding party soon moved to the reception venue,where Neil's mother in law insisted that though Daniel was handsome,Ryu Long looked the hottest.This caused Neil much vexation but he was soon pacified when he saw how Ryu had turned red.Alicia smiled at her hubby's precarious position and to distract Mrs Zheng used another bait.In a smiling voice she said,"Mrs Zheng,what do you think about our Matt.He is the wallflower in our family.The quietest of the lot you know."

Mrs Zheng turned her attention to Matt who rolled his eyes at the way his sister in law had conveniently sacrificed him to save her husband and himself to be teased.He longed to go back to the forests but he had just returned for Neil's wedding and then to welcome his new neice/nephew.He steeled himself to endure some teasing.Mrs Zheng pretended to look him over and said,"He is indeed good looking and though not cold like your hubby or flamboyant like Neil,his quietness is attracting.Matt Long,you are an artist right?Artists should fall in love often!How come you have not yet fallen?Don't worry,auntie will get you a good girl soon.I will tell her you are the best of your brothers,you know the stuff still waters run deep and all..Dont worry."Matt who nodded along at this obediently almost spit out his just sipped champagne when Alicia interrupted, "Auntie,you need to look for a guy..I thing Mat is in the closet."
