163 Useless Woman

She couldn't remember a thing from past but her hands knew their way around. Consecutive cardio and yoga had made her sore muscles recover to an extent.

But she still got tired pretty much fast. Her doctor that visited her daily a.s.sured her that it was a common post-coma effect. Yu Youhan still had insisted for her to rest more and see the doctors on a regular basis.

According to her doctor, when she gets a strong trigger she will regain her memories and she couldn't wait for the day.

She often sat and wondered who her family were and why they haven't come to claim her but everybody refuse to tell her a thing.

That made her angry but her rage was always overshadowed by grat.i.tude. They were doing a lot for her!

Yu Youhan had been a friend to her and all her a.s.sumptions about him were false!

He was rather fun to be around. He would make her laugh, even though he wasn't funny at all, but he...tried and that made her laugh.

He was a little aloof, grumpy and sometimes deadbeat but he was a good friend to her.

And...he was handsome too. Too manly and st.u.r.dy that she couldn't help but go red when he was around.

Since his arrival, the staff had been treating her better, even the brooding Butler smiled at her subtly sometimes. It was like her woes disappeared with his arrival!

Apparently not many people knew about her habits or hobbies because she was a secretive person but Yu Youhan didn't mind letting her pursuit her forgotten pa.s.sion.

The very next day he got shooters, dancers, martial arts fighters, inventors, Chinese medicine-makers, golf and tennis players. One look at the bold sports, she knew she wouldn't even wander past them. And as expected, she was horrible in them.

She was a little disconcerted and unsettled but Yu Youhan got another set of instructors. This time they were of different nature.

Turns out she was a pro in cooking, gardening, painting and piano but all of these things she liked doing in privacy. Yu Youhan was the only one who heard her play and even plays with her sometimes in the evenings when he returned from office.

He was an expert in piano and taught her some difficult new tunes too.

When he was gone she would do her cardio. She was also learning how to boost her cooking and gardening skills. Yu Youhan cook and Gardener were immensely knowledgeable and patiently and politely taught her.

Brother Jiang visited the Mansion but hardly ever talked to her because Yu Youhan would always keep him busy. She missed him. Su Qing and He Zheng also limited their visits.

Yu Youhan said it was because of security purposes but she didn't understand what kind of threat her friends could pose?

Instead, he spent most of his time with her in the evening, took her for outings, shopping and even he took her to a masquerade ball last week. He said that it would keep her entertained until she recovers her memories and physical strength.

He had allowed her to use his grand piano and even made her an art room where she spent most of her time but she didn't want things or favours...

"What are you drawing?" Lu Xinyi jumped at the voice that startled her.

She turned around to see Yu Youhan standing there in his business suit. He had just come back from work.

He came first to see her every day when he returned home.

A gleeful smile bloomed on her face and she kissed his cheek, "Youhan! You startled me!"

"Did I now," he muttered eyeing the half made painting on the canvas, then turned to her, "Why does that look like my a.s.sistant?"

Lu Xinyi laughed at his joke. Though it wasn't a joke from his side, "Because he is your a.s.sistant!"

She turned to the painting and explained with enthusiasm, "Brother Jiang birthday is coming soon and I wanted to give him something memorable. What do you think?"

Yu Youhan eyed the painting with a frown and muttered under his breath, "I could've gotten him a 'memorable' gift for you."

He didn't like her painting anyone else, just as he didn't like her blus.h.i.+ng for anyone else even if it was her brother.

Call it possessiveness but he wanted all her emotions and feelings to be about him. Her whole world to revolve around him, and return he would bestow her the same.

She nodded her head not getting the hint, "You could... but that would be by you not me. Besides I am free the whole day."

He could tell there was something wrong by her dulled eyes. That had been happening a lot lately. She would cry at nights every day. He had heard her but he couldn't do a thing to end her agony.

Yu Youhan frowned, "Is there anything that you want to do?"

Lu Xinyi smiled solemnly and shook her head and her eyes moisture despite her attempts to reign her heart, "Well, I want to work but...I don't remember a thing. I am tired...just tired of everyone walking around me on eggsh.e.l.ls. I am utterly...useless."

Yu Youhan came forward to hug her but she pulled apart and shook her head and took a frustrated sigh that erupted a hiccup then full-blown crying.

She didn't even know who she was! She was living off a man who had no relation to her at all. She was nothing but a leech!

It frustrated her to think that everybody had a life while she was just a liability in others life.

She had been doing all the things the doctors prescribed her but nothing works! She was not getting better at all! She knew there was nothing that was triggering her memory!

All nights she would keep gazing at the photos in her phone and thinking hard to find anything familiar but there wasn't even one thing that she remembered by now.

Yu Youhan came forward and hugged her and this time, she let him.

He didn't say a thing, just let her pour her heart out. She didn't hold either, she cried all her agony and frustration.

After crying for a while in his embrace she pulled apart, and smiled half-heartedly, "Sorry about your s.h.i.+rt, suit and...tie."

Yu Youhan looked at her for a while longer then shook his head, "It's okay."

He opened his mouth to say something then thought otherwise. It was useless to say anything. He could do many things, if not everything. But he couldn't bring back her memories.

Besides... he didn't want her to get her memories back. There wasn't some Lalalland in her past. Her memories were like cancer that would end the one carrying them like parasites.

He didn't want her to return from where she came. She was better off by him, if not with him.

Her car in which she crashed was being controlled by a chip and her blood showed traces of an unrecognisable drug in it.

It wasn't beyond her to take drugs but being drugged and the car being chipped was too much of a coincidence. And there was no coincidence in their world.

Someone wanted her dead...Being with him was much better than being dead.

He softly pulled her out of her art-room, "Wash up and let's watch a movie."

"A chick-flick romance?"

"Anything."

Lu Xinyi smiled beside the heavy chest she was carrying, he wasn't responsible for her situation and nor was he liable for carrying her heavy heart.

He went to change and get fresh so did she.

Her hands were smudged in paint and her dress was stained too, even her face was smudged by her tears and makeup, so she decided to take a bath.

She could scare banshees at the moment!

When she descended down the stairs, she heard a female reporter loud voice resonating from the TV lounge, stiffening her at once.

"...The Golden Boy and one of the most eligible bachelor is off the eligible's list. The Multi-Billionaire and the heir of Li Family..."

A sharp pain erupted in her head, making her wince.

"...Li Yuan had announced his marriage in the coming month with his long-time secret fiance. Rumours are that secret Golden-girl is the daughter of the Lu Family..."

Her whole world spun around and dizziness took her on a wild ride.

'...Lu family...Li Family...Li Yuan...Lu Family...'

Her head exploded with the headache. She tried to take hold of the railing to prevent falling but her feet gave out and before everything went blank she heard someone calling her name in desperation.
