Chapter 148 - Culling The Flock Pt 3

Draig woke up this time feeling refreshed, the troubles of the night were still on his mind as he attempted to figure out what the meaning behind the words spoken in his subconscious. The Silent G.o.d that was currently acting as his heart wasn't operable in it's old capacity at least to his understanding it wasn't.

Draig rose from his bed and dressed himself before leaving his room and treading to the main room where he came to enjoy his tea and over see the work done by the Deva under his banner. He was moderately impressed when he came down to see that the large pit like arena was finished and the Unaffiliated Deva laid about covered in dirt. This would be a shocking scene as Deva were recognized as n.o.ble existences wherever they went save for those of the Dark Deva who only served demons.

As Draig watched them he was soon met by Souta who looked beyond exhausted as he was covered in sweat and was breathing heavily.

"Lord. . . . . . . The task . . . is . . Complete. . . ." reported Souta his words spoken between heavy breaths.

Draig nodded and had a cup of tea poured for the youth, the Feratu didn't particularly feel attached to this person but he was finding him to be more useful as the days progressed.

"You have done well, you may retire for the time being as I must get these people ready for their trials" stated Draig looking to the lazing Deva.

His thoughts however were interrupted by the arrival of Keiko, Ari, and Yuki. The trio carrying a look of disgruntlement.

'Seems this will be a good bit of foreplay. . .' thought Draig with a chuckle, he had began to find more humor in himself as of late as he was the only one who was aware of the incompetence of these little Deva.

"Draig!" came the sudden shout from Ari causing the Feratu to raise and eyebrow towards the sudden shout.

"Yes?" asked Draig confused to why the trio would come here with such troubled looks.

"We heard about your little tournament, are you really going to pit these people against each other like this" demanded Keiko with a look of anger.

"What if I am?" asked Draig as he felt himself becoming more interested by the girls tone.

"Why, don't you understand the value of a faction? What it means to be a leader" demanded Keiko as she clenched her fists.

"Well I could give you several reasons but I will settle for the one that will anger you the most. . . . Because I can. As for leaders.h.i.+p? Ha, my methods may be brutal but they guarantee results. If I still had my old forces I could tear this world asunder" laughed Draig at the anger this girl had over him making executive decisions regarding the people who had decided to follow him.

Keiko growled at the answer and was going to speak but it was Ari that spoke this time.

"Draig. . . I like you. You are strong, courageous, dignified, you are so many things that people should envy. So I ask you please don't do this. . ." pleaded Ari with a saddened look in her eyes causing Draig to chuckle.

"You don't even know me. . . I met you two times in my life briefly and you have put together these odd ideas of who I am from that? It's foolish at best, how can you claim to like someone you barely know. The image you have formed from your misconception is astounding, almost makes me sound heroic, however you are wrong. I am not the hero, I am afraid that I am something much more sinister" smiled Draig as this was indeed becoming more amusing, it seems he was able to voice himself as he would in the other world now that people seemed to be misunderstanding him.

"Then you are a villain. . ." stated Yuki as her eyes became firm.

"I wouldn't call myself a Villain either, I am just someone who enjoys doing as he pleases. In my world we play by the rule of Might is Right, I am simply playing by this rule" answered Draig as he sipped his tea only to find that it had become frozen.

Draig cast his eyes at Yuki as he was well aware of her clan's Avatar revolving around the use of ice and snow in general.

"It's rude to interrupt one's tea" stated Draig as he tipped his cup upside down allowing the frozen block to hit the floor.

"We won't let you get away with this. . . These people don't deserve to die like this" started Keiko who was attempting to lecture Draig.

"If this is a lecture about the true qualities of a leader then may I remind you about how you lied your way into building a faction" interrupted Draig causing Keiko to fall silent.

The Feratu stared at the trio with little more than acknowledgement of their presence demonstrating his feeling about these trespa.s.sers that had come to intervene in his plan.

However suddenly Draig felt a tensing of his heart causing his eyes to widen as he clenched his chest, Souta at the side widened his eyes in surprise and rushed to Draig's side worriedly.

Keiko, Ari, and Yuki were also surprised by the suddeness as Draig coughed up a glob of blackened blood.

"He's been poisoned" spoke Yuki quickly upon seeing the contaminated blood unaware of the fact this was simply Draig's blood.

'D-Draig, help us. Fuse us with the sword' came Zarra's weakened voice causing the Vampire to ignore the pain in his chest.

'How. . . what do I need to do' asked Draig mentally.

'Use the sword. . . . stab the Cla.s.s System' came Zarra's response causing Draig's eyes to widen.

'Hurry. . . . . . . .' came the woeful call causing Draig to grit his teeth as he unsheathed the thousand fold blade causing those around him to become alarmed as he wasted no time and stabbed himself in the heart, or more accurately he stabbed the Silent G.o.d jewel residing in his chest.

"Nooo. . . ." came the unified cry as people witnessed this and attempted to stop him but it was too late.

A sudden burst of power surged from Draig knocking those gathered from their feet as multicolored energy poured from Draig's body or more specifically where the sword was stabbed up to the hilt.

Ginji in the distance heard this and saw the odd event and couldn't help but link it to Draig.

"What is he doing. ." wondered the Grave Forger.

However he wasn't the only one.
