Yu Zi lowered her head such that her gaze was aimed at his belt that was hanging loosely around his waist. She did not dare to lift her head. Suddenly, he moved his waist.

Yu Zi felt her face heating up, so she subconsciously backed away from him.

Yan Huaian noticed this and smiled. However, Yu Zi could not see him since her head was lowered. At that moment, Yan Huaian lowered his head as well, but he was not so brave so as to kiss her right there and then. Having said that, he wanted to be closer to her, just a little bit closer.

He could smell her perfume as he got closer to her. It was very faint, so he needed to get very close to her to smell it.

Yan Huaian could not control himself. The smell of her perfume drew him in like a moth to a flame, making him instinctively approach her.

Yu Zi's head was lowered, but she could still feel something above her head, causing her to feel pressured.

However, she was so nervous that she did not notice how close he got.

Yan Huaian was breathing carefully so that he would not scare her. Even so, every breath he took trembled as he took in the sweet scent that was coming from her hair.

When he lowered his gaze, he could see her smooth and fair forehead right before her hairline. He was so close that he could see each and every hair follicle on her head. 

Yan Huaian moved his lips. It looked like he was about to kiss her hair.

At that moment, the sound of a phone's ringing brought them back to reality.

Yan Huaian felt guilty, so he quickly straightened his body.

On the other hand, the sudden ringing made Yu Zi's nervousness disappear.

She did not know what came over her that made her stand motionless in front of Yan Huaian.

Now looking back at it, the act of them standing like that seemed a little amorous.

Yu Zi felt fl.u.s.tered. She felt that what she just did was not right.

Thus, she hurriedly backed away whilst Yan Huaian stood there motionless.

Yu Zi took out her phone and noticed that it was from Yue Jingchen. 

If that thing with Yan Huaian had not just happened, Yu Zi would refuse to answer his call. However, if she did not answer the call now and continued standing there with Yan Huaian, she would feel uneasy.

Yu Zi gave it a thought and told Yan Huaian to excuse her while she took the call in the living room. When she saw that Yan Huaian did not follow her, she declined the call.

After a while, the phone rang again.

Yu Zi pursed her lips and declined the call once again. However, the phone rang once more, angering Yu Zi.

She took her phone to the balcony before closing the balcony door. Then, she answered the phone, "What the h.e.l.l do you want?"

Yue Jingchen did not expect to hear this from Yu Zi after she picked up his call.

He felt upset when Yu Zi kept declining his call. He wanted Yu Zi to pick up, so when she did, he felt ecstatic.

However, after hearing what she said, his heart sank again.

"Yu Zi, you're willing to let this six-year relations.h.i.+p go down the drain just like that? Why do you want to be so cruel with me?" Yue Jingchen asked in disbelief. 

"Since we're breaking up, I don't want to waste time dwelling on this. This is the best option for both of us. If you can let this go and stop pestering me, I wouldn't need to be so cruel to you." Yu Zi said coldly, but her eyes were red.

"Yu Zi, how can you do this? Do you even have a heart? You're letting a six-year relations.h.i.+p go to waste. You can do it, but I can't!" Yue Jingchen shouted.

Yu Zi closed her eyes and said after a long while, "You're right. That's the way I am. Now you know what kind of person I am. I am cruel and heartless. I can let any relations.h.i.+p go no matter how long we've been together. I am heartless, so why do you still want me? It's not worth it."

Yu Zi sighed before continuing, "Yue Jingchen. Stop this. Let's be straightforward and break this off. I'm tired of all of your pestering."

There was a long silence on the other end of the phone. 

Yu Zi pursed her lips. She wanted to hang up and stop this once and for all.

He was right. It was a six-year relations.h.i.+p. One could not let it go so easily.

However, what could they do if they did not let go? There were too many factors that prevented her from being together with him. This was why she had no choice but to break it off.

Perhaps she really was heartless. 

"I'm not trying to pester you. I just don't want to break up with you," Yue Jingchen said in agitation. "I know you can't let go of me either. Even though you said you're heartless, you still can't forget me. Yu Zi, I know you're blaming my parents. I will explain this to them, and I will make them stop meddling in our business. I won't ask for much, and they will be fine with this. Yu Zi, give me some time to settle things with my parents, okay? After that, we can be together again."

Yu Zi shook her head. "That won't be necessary. I won't wait for you. We should go our seperate ways."

"Why? I've said so much, why are you still rejecting me? I'll ask my parents to change if you're unhappy with them. I'll ask them to change, alright?" Yue Jingchen did not understand. What more could he do to make Yu Zi come back to him?

He did not want to believe that their relations.h.i.+p was coming to an end just like this.

These past two days felt like he was in a dream. He could not even tell what was his imagination and what was reality anymore.

"I've said it many times. We're through. I don't want to repeat myself." Yu Zi said coldly.

She could feel that her parents and brother were glad that she had broken up with him. Even though they were worried about her, they were still pleased.

She would not go back to him and make her family worry again.

"Yu Zi!" Yue Jingchen suddenly screamed, it sounded like he was crying. "Do you even have a heart? I'm wondering if you ever even loved me. How can you just let this go? I am so upset, I don't want to break up with you, but why does it feel like you're fine with it? It's as if our relations.h.i.+p lasted six days and not six years."

Yu Zi was getting impatient. As she was about to open her mouth to reply, a voice sounded out from behind her, "Yu Zi, where did you put your soy sauce?"

Yu Zi turned around in surprise. She saw that the door of the balcony was now ajar with Yan Huaian holding the handle. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and there was an ap.r.o.n with Daodao Dog wrapped around his waist. 

His was holding the spatula in his hand too. He might have decided to start cooking since Yu Zi was taking so long on the phone.

Yu Zi's mouth was wide open as she forgot what she wanted to say. Yan Huaian had a warm and soft smile on his face. "You've been on the phone for quite some time. I don't know when you'll be done so I decided to start cooking. I hope you don't mind."

Yu Zi was still holding the phone to her ear. She shook her head. "N-No."

"I can't find the soy sauce," Yan Huaian said, his voice gentle and his expression affectionate.

Yu Zi lifted her finger toward the kitchen and said, "It's in the cabinet next to the range hood."

Yan Huaian nodded. "Alright."

As she was about to leave the balcony, she heard a roar from the other end of the phone. "Yu Zi, you have a man in your house? Who is he?"

Since Yue Jingchen was very emotional, when he heard a man's voice on the phone, he went into shock.

He thought it was Yu Han at first, but since it was not clear, he could not make out the voice of the person properly.

However, when he thought about it, Yu Han did not know how to cook. Moreover, this man did not even know where the soy sauce is. Thus, it was obvious that he did not come over often.

Yue Jingchen was furious. He wanted to go over to Yu Zi's house to catch this b*stard right there and then.

His body was cold but the fire in his heart was burning with rage. This was why he shouted his question; it was so loud that even Yan Huaian could hear him. 

Yu Zi looked at Yan Huaian apologetically and said, "It's a friend."

"No wonder you wanted to break up so fast. No wonder you won't change your mind no matter how much I begged you. You've already got yourself a man!" Yue Jingchen was so angry that he did not care about what he was saying.

Yu Zi pursed her lips together in dissatisfaction. Her whole body froze from anger. 

"Yue Jingchen, you're a joke. Stop calling me." Yu Zi said, "Don't make my regrets turn into disgust."

"Regret? Of course, you're regretting this. You were seeing some other man while you were still seeing me. I didn't think you were this kind of person." Yue Jingchen scolded.

Yu Zi did not want to talk to him anymore as they would just go around in circles. Therefore, she hung up the phone in frustration.

Eventually, she calmed down after a few deep breaths. After all, she did not want to project his anger toward Yue Jingchen on Yan Huaian.

After she felt calmer, she held her phone in her hand and apologized to Yan Huaian, "I'm sorry you had to see that."

Yan Huaian shook his head. "I should be the one apologizing for barging in on your phone call."
