Chapter 388: You Have a New Upstairs Neighbour?

“Yu Zi! I don't want to give up just like this!” Yue Jingchen ran up to her and grabbed her arm.

Yu Zi felt sad seeing him with tears streaming down his face.

“Yue Jingchen, don't make this hard for me if you really love me.” Yu Zi pushed away his arm coldly.

She had gave him chance after chance for six years, but since he didn't appreciate any of them, she had no choice but to just give up.

Yue Jingchen wanted to block her, causing Yu Zi's face to become dark. She was not sure if she felt disappointed or reluctant as she looked at this man whom she had loved for six years.

She said coldly, “Yue Jingchen, don't make me look down on you!”

Startled, Yue Jingchen put down his arm and watched Yu Zi leave with a blank expression.

Yu Zi went back to Autumn Garden on Sunday afternoon. Initially, Yu Gesheng and Yuan Hejing were afraid that she would be upset, so they asked her to stay home for a while. However, Yu Zi declined.

“I'm fine. I just feel empty inside. It's not like I can't live without him. Don't you worry, I'm doing just fine. Also, my office is too far away from here. If I were to live here, I would need to leave very early.” Yu Zi hugged Yuan Hejing while smiling. “I will come back on Friday, but if I need to work overtime on Friday, then I'll come back on Sat.u.r.day.”

When she saw that Yuan Hejing's face was full of worry, she pouted and said, “Mom, I really am fine. Your daughter is very strong.”

Yuan Hejing smiled softly. “Call us if there's anything.”

“I will.” Yu Zi nodded.

Yu Gesheng stood by one side as he suddenly said, “Let your brother send you back.”

Yu Zi wanted to say no, but seeing her parents' worried face, she decided not to object.

Thus, Yu Han sent Yu Zi back to Autumn Garden. There was underground parking at Autumn Garden, but there were also a few cars on the roadside that belonged to visitors. Normally, they were not allowed to park there.

As a result, Yu Han stopped his car in front of the entrance to her unit. He noticed there was a moving truck in front of the place with a lot of furniture loaded into the back of the truck.

At that moment, there were two young men moving a sofa into the unit.

“You have a new upstairs neighbour?”

Yu Zi shook her head. “I don't know.”

Their conversation was overheard by a neighbor that was pa.s.sing by. He said, “It's the resident from the 12th floor. I'm not sure who bought it, but the house was sold yesterday, and they're moving in today. They're in such a hurry.”

Yu Zi looked at Yu Han. The 12th floor? Isn't that the same floor as her?

Yu Zi lived on the 12th floor. It was a unit with two bedrooms and a living room. One was her bedroom while the other one was turned into her study.

The two of them went inside the apartment and saw that there was furniture inside as well. Obviously, it had been placed here by the workers so that it would be more convenient for them to move later on.

Although the furniture looked clean and in good condition, it was obvious that it was not brand new. This made it likely that it had been moved here from the tenant's previous residence. It was just well-kept too, so it did not look old. Furthermore, judging from its style and the material, it did not look cheap.

Perhaps it was just as the neighbour had said: they wanted to move urgently, so they did not have time to buy new furniture. It would take some time for the delivery and the smell of the new furniture to dissipate if they were to buy new furniture. Thus, if they needed to move urgently, they would not have the time for this.

Yu Han and Yu Zi just briefly looked at the scene before putting the thought aside and entering the elevator.

They had two elevators in their block. One of them was currently occupied by the moving company. It seemed to be stuck on the second floor without moving.

Soon enough, the other elevator slowly came down. There was no one else inside, which meant the two of them were alone.

“I'm curious what the new neighbors are like. You're busy with work, so I don't think you will have the time to get to know them. If they are bad people, you need to tell me.” Yu Han said. “We can move away.”

“Big Bro, don't worry,” Yu Zi said. “I can handle this. Don't treat me like a child.”

Yu Zi felt like the most common phrase that she said to her parents and brother was “Don't worry.”

She was all alone out here, but even if they were in the same city, they would still worry about her.

In reality, Yu Han was also living all alone in the outside world, but in their parent's eyes, no matter how old Yu Zi was, she would still be their little girl.

Yu Han was smiling. Normally his face would be serious since he was a lawyer, but his smile right now was soft and warm like the sun in spring.

He caressed Yu Zi's head. He was still treating her like a child. “You'll always be a little kid in my eyes. You've stopped growing since high school, you're so short. So, no matter how old you are, you'll still be that same little girl to me.”

Yu Han remembered when his mother was pregnant with Yu Zi. Toward the beginning of her pregnancy, Yu Gesheng excitedly said that it must be a girl inside Yuan Hejing's belly. Yuan Hejing was hoping it was a girl as well. On the other hand, they were also afraid that the kid would not turn out as expected; they were afraid that they would feel disappointed if they hoped for too much.

This was why when Yu Gesheng referred to the baby in Yuan Hejing's stomach as his daughter, Yuan Hejing would rain on his parade and sat that they were not sure what it was, and that it could very well turn out to be a boy again.

At that moment, Yu Han was six years old, and he was not happy when he heard what his parents said. He felt like they were discriminating against his gender. He even asked them if they were disappointed when they gave birth to him and found out that he was a boy.

Of course, his parents said no. Nevertheless, it was obvious that they were looking forward to having a girl, so Yu Han felt like they were just saying that to comfort him.

When they were finally able to find out the baby's s.e.x, Yu Gesheng and Yuan Hejing went to the hospital feeling both excited and nervous.

The hospital did not allow them to check the baby's s.e.x at the time, but since Yu Gesheng and Yuan Hejing knew someone working in the hospital, they used their connections to check the s.e.x. When they found that it was a baby girl, they were ecstatic.

Meanwhile, Yu Han was also looking forward to the arrival of his baby sister after being influenced by his parents.

When Yu Zi was born, her skin was yellow, and she looked like a ball of wrinkles. She did not look cute at all, instead appearing small and fragile.

After a few days, the yellow in Yu Zi's skin slowly faded and became fair while her face also stopped being so wrinkly. Now, she looked like a small gluttonous ball, soft and cute.

Yu Han wanted to look at his baby sister all day. When it was time for school, he did not want to leave, and after school ended, he would rush home to see his sister.

Even after watching his sister grew up from a small bundle of joy to the woman she was now, Yu Han still thought that his sister was fragile and needed his protection.

The reason Yu Han did not like Yue Jingchen was not only because of his parents. He felt that Yue Jingchen was honest and kind, but he was a little indecisive.

However, in all honesty, he did not think that any man would be good enough for his sister.

The elevator soon stopped on the 12th floor, and the two of them got out of the elevator and walked to the door. They saw that the door opposite them was wide open, and that there were workers coming in and out of the house while moving furniture.

Right at that moment, a young man came out from the front door. He looked about 27 to 28 years old and was dressed casually. Even though he was wearing a tracksuit, he still looked very stylish. He looked like the warm and handsome type, and was baby-faced as well. He seemed like the type to be liked by a lot of people.

The man was looking in their direction so Yu Zi smiled at him. “Are you my new neighbour?”

The man stopped and laughed. “No, I'm just here to help with the moving. The owner can't come cos he has something else going on. He can only come over at night.”

Yu Zi replied with a short “Oh”.

Liu Jiamu looked at Yu Zi and Yu Han. This man looked modest, handsome and tall.

The devil in his heart rubbed his chin. This man did not fit the description of Yu Zi's boyfriend. According to her description, even though Yu Zi's boyfriend was remarkable, he was also young and inexperienced. Thus, he would not look so modest and confident.

He could not help but chuckle. Could this be another rival?

Liu Jiamu decided to test this man in place of his boss and said, “Do you guys live here?”

Yu Zi nodded her head. “I live here. This is my brother. If you need anything, you can come to find me.”

“Thank you,” Liu Jiamu said. His smile was sincere, making him look very approachable.

Yu Zi smiled back and then opened the door.

Yu Han did not follow her inside. Instead, he caressed her hair at the door. “Rest well. Call me if you need anything.”

Yu Zi nodded. She only closed the door when she saw that Yu Han had left.

Yu Han went to his car after leaving Yu Zi's house. As he was about to leave, he saw a familiar figure lurking around the door of Yu Zi's apartment.

Yu Han's eyes narrowed. This mysterious figure was none other than Yue Jingchen.

His face turned dark when he got out of the car and slammed the door.

When Yue Jingchen heard the noise, he spun around. His face changed the moment he saw Yu Han.

Yu Han looked him up and down. He had become so shabby after just one day.
